❛ Not afraid of the law, though? ❜
KINNEY, SAWYER.
Sawyer reluctantly brings back the previous distance between them, perhaps minimised in the slightest. Not enough for the older to tell, she was sure. ❛ I would’ve… had she not ditched me oh-so-rudely! ❜ The teen defended herself, though her tone implied simple playfulness. ❛ So, showing up at your door, at the dead of night, is a NO-GO? Bummer. ❜
❛ Right. I’m not the most educated on teenaged girl controversy, ❜ He shook his head, smile indenting his cheeks. ❛ If you need help, Kinney, it’s always open. the point? Avoid needing a place to crash at God-know-what-hour in the morni--- Why so conversational? You avoiding laps or something? You could stand to be less obvious, I think see Cassidy Rodriguez giving you the stink eye. ❜
MICAH !
half a smile tug at her lips, one she shakes off as his speech continues on. ‘ ‘s not WEIRD. not that weird, at least, ’ she corrects, and her stare diverts from his. her entire face has got to be puffy by now. ‘ you’re not—– not cool… ‘s just that i don’t——- i don’t know how to talk ‘bout this stuff. ’
❛ You don’t have to know how. ❜ He looked back down at her, noting her UNWILLINGNESS to look back at him. ❛ Plenty of years older than you, and I still hate it. But if it’s anything someone else can help with, even if it’s just listening --- you might as well tell them. ❜ He paused for a moment. ❛ That and I can’t have you crying in the middle of a game. Getting it off your chest’ll do you some good. ❜
SAWYER !
As past adventures were brought up, features were obscured by hands: a muffled groan leaving the teen before she chooses to face Elliot once more. ❛ Well, why not? ❜ The brunette finally challenged, head tilted on its side. ❛ Was being MY HERO— ❜ Phrase is spoken in theatrical dramatisation, a hand placed above her heart: small figure leaning against Elliot’s. ❛ — only a one time deal? ❜
A tiny half laugh, just a huff out of his nose before she spoke again was all the response he gave her groan of what he could only assume was embarrassment. ❛ Needing to was the one time deal. You gotta stay safe, kid. Walking around half drunk in the middle of the night is one way to NOT do that. You should have called from Katie’s house, nice thing called a PHONE BOOK. I would have come and picked you up, Kinney. Don’t want to make me worry on purpose, I hope. ❜
ᔆᴬᵂʸᴱᴿ
She’d forgotten about the others; leaving them to finish their routes while she shamelessly flirted with the coach. Something that became more of a habit by each day. ❛ Way to make it about you ! ❜ Shoulder collides with Elliot’s in playful roughness, the teenager’s laughter erasing any form of suspected ill-intent. ❛ What about celebratory drinks after, oh … I don’t know –– an entire SEASON of killing it ? You owe us, old man. You owe me. – – – We’ll do it anyways. You might as well be there to make sure we don’t bite it before twenty-one. ❜
❛ Celebratory? ----- Tell you what, you win the rest of the games for the season, and I’ll turn a blind eye for ONE drink. Don’t tell the other girls I said anything, though. Respect’s IMPORTANT, and it’ll be dwindling for me and the art of soccer if you all wake up with hangovers. We don’t want a repeat of being too tipsy to go home either. ❜ He shook his head in a quickly 𝑎𝑏𝑎𝑛𝑑𝑜𝑛𝑒𝑑 refusal, but he cracked a smile at the other’s detailed reasonings as he spoke ---- if there was one thing Sawyer did, she stuck to her guns.
ᴰᴬᴹᴵᴬᴺ
A huff of air is released, the younger clearly amused by Elliot’s response. ❛ SEX. ❜ He clarified, not particularly bothered by the other’s position in Sheffield; or in his father’s department. ❛ You getting any ? ❜
A look of vague bemusement met his face for a split second, but then it was 𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙚𝙡𝙙𝙚𝙙 by ANNOYANCE, and he shook his head, rolling his eyes before speaking to the other. ❛ You wanna do me a favor and get outta my practice, kid? ❜
FILED UNDER: kinney, sawyer.
She laughs; an act not unusual to the teen, but genuine nonetheless. ❛ As they should. It’s a WONDER they haven’t gotten one up yet. If not for martyrdom, then for sheer AWESOMENESS. Name one center-forward with a better heel kick than me … My bet’s on that you can’t. ❜ Smugness dripped from her tone, and there wasn’t humility shown in sight. Though her voice remained playful, passing the bottle back to the older. ❛ THE CITY ? Jewish, much ? ❜
&. ——— ❛ You’re telling me. I would have gotten the key long ago if it was MERIT based. Good officer, good coach, excellent citizen --- you might be a little too young for it, you know. Hear they only allow legal drinkers on account of the TOASTS. You ought to go practice your instep kick until you’re twenty one. ❜

@elliivts !!
Having just left practice himself, Damian couldn’t help but stop by to watch the one occurring afterwards. Gaze shifting between the male coach, and the girls running ‘round the field in little to no attire, a chuckle escaped the teen. ❛ I always wondered why the fuck you’d bother with this soccer bull. But … I’m STARTING to see the appeal. ❜ He pauses, keeping his field of vision firmly on the field ahead. ❛ You getting any of that on the side, or what ? ❜
&. ——— ❛ EXCUSE ME? ❜

❝ don’t say that —– - you’re, like, a total catch! cop, tall, real nice. don’t say stuff like you’re married to the job now. if you want, i could play matchmaker. tried that . . before. ❞
&. ——— ❛ I’m ... flattered at the offer, Pauline, but ... married to the job isn’t exactly a false statement. Between coaching and trying to BREATHE for a second ... work’s been taking up the rest of that time. I promise, though, I’ll make the time to take you out for whatever shopping nonsense I’ve gotten myself roped into. But no matchmaking. ❜
kisch, pauline.
❝ i know, BUT . . you don’t have to make it so obvious! i was thinking more along the lines of trading the sweatpants for a nice suit. you’d look so chic. a cop’s authority on the outside and all that. fake it until you make it. or until someone’s willing to be mrs. elliot moore.❞
❛ A ... suit? For daily wear? ---- Pauline, I appreciate the MULTIPLE offers, but ... ‘ chic ’ isn’t exactly my top priority. And marriage isn’t either. ❜
kinney, sawyer.
Of course she had her own bottle, though it was left among her belongings feet away – a distance she didn’t feel the urge to walk. But that wasn’t the sole reason for her reluctance to fetch her own, knowledge Elliot seemed to lack. ❛ I think I’m in PRETTY good shape already, don’t you ? ❜ The younger provoked, plastic meeting full lips as dark brows rose. ❛ Maybe I’m just DYING to make life miserable for you … Literally. ❜
❛ I salute your sacrifice, Kinney. Brave one to make, and I’m sure many would salute you over missed soccer practices and turned eyes to vandalism. ❜ He looked at her with amusement, his head shaking a little has his brows rose in turn. ❛ They might even give you a posthumous key to the city, kid. Rising up in the world even after DEATH. ❜
suryadi, micah.
she’s not sure why she’s crying anymore. her breakup, sure—- but it was more of a triggering factor. julian apolskis isn’t even on her mind as tears that have been waiting for years to be released run free, but rather the life she’s had to lead. this is not what she ever wanted for herself—— fatherless, sisterless, boyfriendless, homeless ; not a life anyone would want. and god, it’s so overwhelming that she’s reached the point of finding comfort on her soccer coach that it’s bizarre and she does not want to do this again, but the sense of security that washes over her alleviates her troubled mind—– and her sobs become easier to control. elliot gives her the time she needs to collect herself, and it’s only after a moment of silence —– when all she did was bury her head in his chest ( god forbid he’d see more of her crying face ) —– that she speaks again.
‘ —— my bad, ’ she sniffs, wiping her tears away with her hands. ‘ —- i just—— ’
❛ Nothing to feel BAD about. Better you take out emotions on a SOCCER BALL than anything else. ❜ He pauses, attempting for the vague encouragement to get her to continue past a cut off sentence. ❛ Anything you’d want to talk about? Even if it’s WEIRD talking to your soccer coach, I could find someone ... younger. A girl. ❜
micah.
at a certain moment, between meaningless kicks and hits, everything becomes HAZY. her body continues to function, doing what she’s been told and allowing tears drip from hazel eyes ; but she’s not… there. and neither is he until he voices his concern and everything comes back to her. micah tries to blink the stinging sensation away from her eyes, but in doing so, her chin begins to tremble. the brunette shakes her head one, two— even three times because she HATES being seen like this, by anyone ; she hates even witnessing herself break down like this. but she’s too far gone, and the only way her body manages to react is by sobbing into his chest, hands clutching at his jacket.
It was a little disconcerting to see Micah like this --- she had always seemed more stoic than the other girls on the team, steel faced and determined. So as he witnesses her cry more freely than she had upon his first questioning, he accepts it, gingerly placing what’s supposed to be a comforting arm around her as she cries. Not sure what to say, there’s several moments of just tears and breathing before he speaks. ❛ Hey ... it’s ... it’s okay. You’re okay. ❜
sawyer.
the facade was kept on, & sawyer kept up the act of being unbothered by previous exercises. though, she allows herself to fall down onto the grass – legs stretched out before her as she leaned back onto her elbows.
❛ season’s almost over & you want me to take it EASY ? nu-huh. jogging … now, that’s a WARM UP. i’m plenty warm already, i’ll have you know. you going to share, or what ? ❜
❛ End of the season? You not coming to the scrimmages to prep for next year’s games, Kinney? ❜ At this point, he was peering down at her, and as his sentence finished, he moved next to her on the ground in a swift motion, passing her the water bottle. ❛ Bringing your own is a good idea, you know. It’s still hot this time of year, passing out on the field requires a little too much paperwork for me. Unless you’re up for risking your health to make me MISERABLE. ❜ A half smile, not uncharacteristic when talking to the younger, formed his lips into a curve before fading back into a neutral expression.
❖ would you make sweet, sweet love to sawyer
❛ Sawyer is young. She’s on my soccer team. She’s obviously a very pretty girl, but --- I’m in a position of authority as her captain. It’d be inappropriate, and wrong. ❜
pauline.
‘‘ says WHO? i think they scream i’m single & a soccer coach. you ever considered something more . . preppy? ‘‘
❝ ----- I am single and a soccer coach. PREPPY? Popped collars and sweater vests? That’s not really the type of clothes I need, Pauline. Just the basics. ❞
