Something about the laugh made Juliet feel as if she was floating. Or maybe it was just the alcohol, but her hopelessly romantic heart was only elevated as her guard lowered from the intoxication. Yet she was still in enough control to keep her face neutral and not let the infatuation show. Her stomach growled as he mentioned fish and chips and suddenly realized she was famished, she’d have to remember to get food when the bartender came back. “Food sounds delightful… I seemed to have forgotten that bit.” She smiled when he was closer to her and his eyes seemed more vibrant than ever before.
When he mentioned her sadness she felt completely transparent. Why couldn’t she be better at hiding her feelings? She seemed to wear her heart on her sleeve and showcase everything to the world. She shrugged and tried to nonchalantly slide the piece of paper away from Elliot and under a menu. “Job stuff is complete madness. Ever met Rita Skeeter? If you have I’m sorry, but I promise you the way she treats outsiders is her being nice. She can make the Daily Prophet feel like a war zone that witch..” She looked and him and smirked, “Literal witch as well as bitch of a witch.” She waved down a worker as they passed by, “I’ll have a butterbeer for now as well as an order fish ‘n chips and whatever this fella would like.” She nodded her head at Elliot and waited for him to order. She chose a more tame drink in hopes she would not become overly intoxicated and make a stupid decision in front of Elliot, for something about the man made her more nervous than she’d ever felt around any other wizard.
elliot laughed, shaking his head at the younger witch, “food’s the important part, love. forgettin’ to eat while you’re drinkin’ is how ya find yourself incoherent ‘n singin’ along t’music that’s not playin’ -- i’ve learned that the hard way, y’know.” he placed his own order, paying for their food a drinks. elliot didn’t say much until his own fish and chips and beetle berry whiskey were in front of him. “i actually haven’t had the -- apparently unfortunate -- pleasure of meetin’ the witch myself -- i think she mighta been a bit before my time in hogwarts, and i don’t really ever find myself in the prophet offices. ya shouldn’t let ‘er ruin your day though, she’s not here after all,” he pointed out, gesturing to the other patrons around them at the pub. “i’m sure that ol’ dumbleodre would have something far more inspirin’ to say to ya about that, but alas i’m not dumbledore.”
