Ajay had put on his best rain coat and decided to go out in the field to look for things he could bring back to Sanctuary to run tests on. He hadn’t been out since things went down just weeks prior, but seeing how it was, felt weird. But he now stood in some field with bodies spread around him. He was alone.. Or so he thought.. Feeling something move in the corner of his eyes he slowly looked up, meeting the glaze of a someone .

She sat there with a gun dangling loose in her hand. Ever since the recent encounters with the Martyrs, Elliot had been working hard on her aim. Luckily for her, she had been improving. What she had expected, but not wished for was to encounter a horde of zombies to test her abilities. Now she was surrounded by corpses. “Oh man..” She muttered into her palm.

“Damn dude, how’d the hell did you get that?” Jack whistled as he noticed the wound that the other man had. “Just sit down and hope that I don’t decide to make it worse.” Jack joked.

“His idiocy.” She smirked as she gave the wounded man a small cup of water. While they drifted too far from Sanctuary, Elliot was thankful that the city let them stay here for a bit until the man was healed. “So he’s going to be okay?”

Zayden let out a slight chuckle though it pained his bruised lungs, he enjoyed the burn. “Sometimes our best plans don’t work huh? But really i’ll be fine. I’ve managed this long. But of temperamental bandage work and bush medicines, still alive.” It was who he was, to shake these kind of things off as if they were nothing. To place himself aside to focus on others, nowadays that was used in a negative way more than anything. “Do you really think they’d take a look at me if i’m just visiting?” he questioned, considering the option. He wasn’t in the business of lying about his lack of skills when it came to dealing with injuries. “Don’t mention. Maybe it’ll give you something to mull over until you’re back in action” he smiled back, hoping that they’d do some good. “Yeah, the Martyrs are all over the place out there. I’ve tried to avoid them best I can, but doesn’t always work for me”

“Yeah, just because you’re surviving through with that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take better supplies.” Zayden was stubborn - this she always knew and as much as she loved him for it, it was also the very thing that annoyed her. Usually, she would have pushed a bit harder but it wasn’t really her place anymore to do so which was why she allowed the topic to be brushed off, “Of course. Sanctuary’s all about helping people and besides, I can vouch for you if anything right? Just don’t make me look bad.” She joked as she lightly tugged on his sleeve to motion him to follow her, “Yeah.. I unfortunately ran into a few myself.. They’re just.. nasty people..”

“It’s alright. Just trying to make sure someone is not following me with bad intentions or anything. With all that’s been going on I just got a bit more jumpy.”

“I understand. Everyone’s pretty on edge ever since.. you know..”

“Aye, the very ones.” He said with a small nod. He listened to her as she spoke. “Ah suppose that since they turned up not a lot of people have gone out to update the maps. A lot of new things have been popping up. Or old ones…” he said trailing off a little. He thought of asking if she’d seen his cousin. He’d been around a lot longer than he did. However, he’d probably lose it if something happened to him. “Whit were ye tryin’ to locate?” He asked. He looked around trying to spot any people that belonged to his group. He knew that they wouldn’t take kind to him walking with an outsider - and they’d blow his cover.

"Makes sense, who would want to be out there discovering new territory when there's a bunch of psychopaths out there killing people." She wrapped her arms around herself tighter, sickened by the thoughts, "Just one of our equipment that got abandoned when that group started ...terrorizing people. Someone's got to go and fetch it back."

Val turned around and looked at the person who was out of her line of sight. “You shouldn’t sneak up on people. There are some of us who will shoot first ask questions later.” She said loud enough for them to hear. She held up her gun - a weapon she used rarely. Val had managed to save a few bullets despite how hard it was to come by them.

"Wasn't my intention to sneak up on you, but you do have a gun and you didn't seem to have noticed me so..." She didn't know if she should peek out and risk being shot in the eye.

“Alright I can hear you over there,” Kenzi called out as she heard what she thought was someone running. Walkers didn’t usually run or ever run really. “You may as well show yourself or something.”

“Sorry, didn’t mean to scare you.. I realized it might have been too late to hide.” She chuckled as she revealed herself.

Outside the place where Elliot sleeps someone has left her a gift. Lightly carved into the ground there is a small snake symbol, and a message written in small legible letters, "I'm watching you."

Waking up from her slumber, Elliot stretched her arms as she slowly sat herself up. Another day of work - as much work she could do with one arm in a sling. Just as she was about to sit up, the carving on the ground had caught her eye. "What..?" Alarms went off in her mind as a sudden chill ran through her. Did someone come in during the night? How did she not have heard them? There was no mistaken the image as anything but the symbol of the terrorizing group. "Oh my god." Using her feet, she quickly tried to erase any traces of the message. The wise thing would be to tell another about it, but there was enough trouble going on around. So, for now, she would keep it to herself even if it shook her.

“You are pretty clumsy” he teased light heartedly, despite the mountain of worry, he knew it was better to let these things go then to hold onto it. “I hope it gets better before you get cabin fever” Zayden should have really been taking his own advice, but he never was very good at that. “It’s okay, having a little trouble with my arm but i’m good” he reassured, quickly changing the subject to ignore the fact he was injured. “I brought some stuff” he mention pulling the bag from his back and placing it at his feet. “Engine parts, generator parts, a few medical supplies. It won’t do me much good at there, so I figured you could probably use it”

“Hey! I ..I manage.” She couldn’t even defend that fact because she really was. Elliot then sighed, "Well, the plan is to not get sick in general, but I’ll try my best. I’m more worried about you though. We have a whole med team if anything goes wrong but you’re out there on your own. Did anyone take a look at that?” Her eyes dropped to the arm, concerned that he got hurt again. At least this time, he didn’t seem to be as worse of a state as he was the last time they met. “We can drop a visit to them now if you want?” She offered and was willing to back off if needed even if she didn’t want to. Crouching down, Elliot tried to open the bag with a bit of difficulty considering she was doing this with one hand, “Oh whoa, there’s a lot of stuff in here - I think you can keep the medical supplies though, out of everything, that might be the most useful thing for you out there. But thank you, Zay.” She offered a smile.  “Have you.. Have you ran into any of those called the Martyrs?”

“Alright, let’s get the show on the road, aye?” He asked with a grin. No one could say that Neacal couldn’t act. He acted all the time, and this was no different. “Are ye looking for a specific location, or just browsing around?” he asked. His voice dropped to a whisper. “Ah’ll give ye a clue. There are a lot of people who are fond of the snake.”

Seeing how she didn’t really have a choice and he appeared to know the area more than she did, Elliot followed him despite the nagging feeling she had telling her to get away from him. “I was.. trying to locate something, but it seemed that I grabbed an old map - or no one bothered to update it and took a wrong turn somewhere..” She sighed, unsure to why she was even telling him all that. Elliot slowed her pace as he gave her a riddle, “The snake?” She furrowed her brow as she tried to make sense of it. There wasn’t any indication to any actual snakes around here, so did he mean metaphorically? And then it hit her, “The snake.” She repeated as her eyes drew back to the man, “As in.. the Martyrs?”

“Duh,” She told her, drinking a bit more of her water before doing the top again, nodding in agreement. “Probably a good idea,” She said with a chuckle before hearing the question, giving her a look over. “Depends. Probably not, but it’d fuck up their leg pretty bad. If it hits a major vein or gets infected….probably not a good idea. You…what happened?”

“Oh...” A trap that was enough to break a leg or worse - how enlightening. Ellioit made a mental note to warn her fellow Sanctuary members not to head this way or they’ll most likely fall for it if the woman didn’t warn them instead. “Me?” She looked down at herself. “Uh.. Just encountered people that I shouldn’t have.”

Thomas smiled and nodded gently. “Right. Yeah, well that definitely makes sense.” Thomas laughed along with the words coming from Elliot’s mouth, about how not only did they have the walkers to worry about, but now regular humans had to join in on the chaos, too. The situation, it wasn’t funny at all. But, if they didn’t laugh at some things, they wouldn’t be able to laugh at anything. “Uh-huh. Right. And, I mean, I guess we should try and find them. Especially since not a lot of people can actually do anything about it, I guess it’s a good thing we’re out here like walking targets, right?”

“Yeah, and some don’t even want to go out so far in case anything does happen so it pretty much is up to us to get things fixed. Let’s just hope we can do it before people or zombies come find us. If we keep talking about it, it might just jinx us and I would love to avoid that right about now.” Elliot chuckled as she readjusted her belt. Normally a toolbelt would only consist of - well - tools but because it was an apocalyptic world, elliot, along with many others, had a gun strapped to it. Odd, but necessary. The thought of that was very depressing.

As she stepped closer, Zayden careful wrapped an arm around her, leaving his injured arm to hang by his side. He could clearly see that she wasn’t as okay as he wanted her to be, but he could feel she was in one piece. And for now that was going to have to do. “Sorry I didn’t call first” he said in an attempt to make a joke of the situation they had now grown so accustomed too. “I’m really sorry about your arm El, what did the doctors say?” he queried not wanting to push the subject if she didn’t want to talk about it.

The side of her lips lifted ever so slightly at his joke. To think the most mundane thing back then would almost be a luxury nowadays. She missed having her phone, her camera - along with everything else but she had learnt how to live without them along with everyone. “This was probably on me, you know how clumsy I get.” She chuckled, playing it off like it was nothing. “It’ll heal, but I can’t really exert a lot of force with it though..” She looked down at her sling, trying to move her fingers but barely doing so. “You’re alright though? I know.. I’m nagging again, but... I- “ She sighed, shaking her head, “I’m nagging. Sorry.” It worried her no matter how well he could handle himself out there.

“Oh,” he said thinking about her answer. She seems to be in a hurry to get away. He thought to himself. “Well, Ah know the area. Perhaps Ah can be yer guide?” He proposed. Something about her still wasn’t right to him - something seemed off. So he couldn’t just let her wander off. He was part of a different group now, and they allowed him to do something about any suspicions he had.

“My guide?” It was true that she didn’t know the area, but how much did she trust this man? Not a lot. But what were the chances of getting even more lost. Elliot didn’t have much of a choice it seemed. “I guess that would be helpful. I don’t even know where I am.. “

As she began to come closer, his eyes caught the sling and bandages that littered her body. The worry he held now sinking into ever part of him. As the guards stepped aside to let him through, Zayden stepped inside Sanctuary. He never thought that would be a real thing, but in the moment he didn’t care. “I’m okay El” he reassured her, despite the open wound he still had on his arm, beneath his shirt. It was easy to forget when one of the only people he cared about stood before him injured. “More importantly are you okay? I didn’t come because I think you can’t take care of yourself or that the people here don’t have your back. I was only worried”

Elliot stepped forward and gave the man an one-armed hug without crushing her own wounds - and his if he had any. While she wanted to believe in his words, the Knight knew how often he’d say he was fine - even if he was bleeding somewhere like the last time she saw him. “Yeah. I’m okay. I mean, I’ve been better but, it happens...” She couldn’t help but chuckle at his reasoning. “I know. I’m really glad you’re here.” Now that she hugged him, she didn’t realize how much she needed one. “I was going to help with fixing up Sanctuary, but I can’t really .. do anything bumming one arm. Whoever the Martyrs are, they really did a lot of damage to the place..”

He clenched his jaw. It was clear that she was in a hurry to get away from him, but why? Was she going to tell others of his location, and come back with a mob? Either way he didn’t trust her not to do something. Maybe she’d absent mindlessly let it slip that she met someone who could be a Martyr. Which wouldn’t be good for him or his new group. ‘No. Ah’m a bit bored. Ah get a little testy when Ah’m bored,” he lied. He had to know more about this person. What their intentions were…and whether or not he needed to get rid of her.

Testy. So did that mean he was getting annoyed with her? Elliot didn’t think she did anything wrong yet except maybe stumbling upon his territory. “Well, I can leave if you want.. I must have made a wrong turn somewhere.” Sanctuary still had to be fixed but no one else was willing to venture so far. Either she had been dazing off while she was walking, or she took an old version of the map and lost her way.

“Me wee barra. Yer a youngin’ out in territory ye shouldn’t be.” he said. His eyes flickered to her crossed arms. As if that little gesture was something extremely disrespectful to him. Yes, he wasn’t technically someone high ranking within his own group, but he refused to be treated as some low on the food chain. “Whit brings ye out here?” he asked. He was already feeling as if this person wasn’t someone he could trust.

“I’ve noticed..” She said cautiously before finally taking a step back. Maybe she should leave because one thing’s for sure, this man was not a friendly. Everything about him set off all alarms in her mind. “Nothing.. I was just.. Nothing.” She looked behind her, seeing how fast she could get out of here, “I should get back.. I’ll leave you to.. whatever you were doing.”
