Well thank you! I think it’s been about that long. A year after you left, I ened up…um…leaving town. My mom passed away. She was all I had left, so I packed up all my stuff in a car and I’ve been living in and out of hotels all over the southern United States. Now I’m settled here for now. Don’t know how long I’ll be staying, but I like it so far.

I feel like No Angel describes the way Elliot's always there for people and, in a way, his promise to them.
"Pretty girl, pretty girl, pretty girl, you should be smiling / a girl like you should never look so blue / you're everything I see in my dreams / I wouldn't say that to you if it wasn't true"
Treasure is the way he feels about a certain girl that has not been decided yet.
"Oh, I'm like a kid who just won't let it go / twisting and turning the colors in rows / I'm so intent to find out what it is / this is my Rubik's cube, I know I can figure it out"
The chorus Rubik's Cube describes the way Elliot felt when he couldn't figure out what the missing piece was in his life.
"If you ever see me talking to myself / I'm just running through the words I have to say to you"
Talking to Myself more specifically those two lines describes the way he carefully chooses his words and how he can get nervous at times.
"If no one wants to look at you, for what you really are / I will be here still"
When I was reading Elliot's bio for the first time, If No One Will Listen instantly came to mind and I feel like it just screams Elliot.
"I'll be your crying shoulder / I'll be love's suicide / I'll be better when I'm older / I'll be the greatest fan of your life."
Again, I'll Be is another promise to his friends that he'll always be there for them.
"If I'm louder, would you see me? Would you lay down in my arms and rescue me?"
I feel like Elliot relates to these lines as well as others in More Than This because he feels like all he is to people is the best friend and nothing more when (at times) he thinks that he could be perfect for them romantically.
"I'd never ask you 'cause deep down / I'm certain you'd say / you'd say 'I'm sorry.. believe me.. I love you, but not in that way"
The reason I picked Not in That Way is similar to my reason for More Than This & If No One Will Listen. This song came to mind when I was applying for Elliot and I think it does a good job describing how he feels a good 90% of the time/the constant feeling of being friendzoned.
"See, the whole entire world isn't quite enough / No it's not enough / I want to feel something that's not just wasted love"
The lines above from Wasted Love is literally what I think goes through Elliot's mind when he sees couples walking down the street and how he longs to be in a committed relationship.
After spending the majority of the day cooped up in his room, Elliot decided that the carnival was a good enough reason to get out of the house. Normally he wouldn't go to a carnival by himself since he thought it was just a place for guys to do cute things for their girlfriends like win them an obnoxiously large prize at a game booth or for little kids to have fun with their families. However the blond found himself wandering the fair grounds in a clean pair of clothes in hope of finding someone he recognized. While he continued to walk aimlessly, he allowed his mind to wander. He took in his surroundings - the bright lights, the familiar scent of popcorn and cotton candy, as well as the happy faces - the whole lot. Elliot was so preoccupied that he didn't even notice where he was going and bumped into someone. Automatically he placed a hand on their shoulders to steady them. "Sorry, my bad, I wasn't paying attention."
