Ellis Kayin CHAN 陳嘉言

Ellis Kayin Chan (B.1990 Hong Kong ) is a Barcelona-based animation director and visual artist. Graduating from Gobelins, l'école de l'image in Paris, he delves into themes like life, death, memories, and reality through his artwork. To wrap up the year, there’s nothing better than to recap an emotional journey of my feature project <Wilderness of the Greenriver> at the @goldenhorsefilmfestive Film Project Promotion. After an intense week—and more than 50 pitching meeting to film professionals—we were incredibly grateful to receive the Grand Prize.

Finally found a moment to share some of the work I did for , the first Korean Netflix animated feature directed by @yaha_han

All started at the beginning of 2023 to join the team as Lead Animator, this film has been one of the great experience for me - grateful to have been part of such a passionate team, and to see it all come together on screen has been incredibly rewarding.

It’s been a pleasure working with @yaha_han and seeing her vision take shape — thank you for the trust.

Beautiful character design and art by the super talented @je_ahn96, with incredible support from producers Young Kyoung Kim and @daeun_lo.

Finally, I can share the trailer of my independent short film (離風藍蘭), which has been invited to several festivals for its premiere! Two and a half years of self-animating, painting and producing, it is to honour my sister’s passing. Ultimately, this project became my refuge from pain and an act of love

Nevertheless, thanks to my family as always.

I had a chance to animate and did the layout of this sequence (my favorite) for this amazing film “Feux” directed and painted frame by frame by @mohammad.babakoohi. Its was even more emotional with the music composed by @pobkf.

Last year I had a chance to work in a Hong Kong animated short, its fun to animate this cat. Directed by Jay Wong and Donald Kwok.

At the beginning of 2021, I started making this personal piece. At first were just a few images like these two scenes, to memorize and honor my sister.
