Watercolor tattoos don't have strict ideas around composition or subject matter. The aesthetic of these tattoos is naturally free flowing and creative, so they often include psychedelic or surreal elements.

This was an interesting type of tattoo to use for the Hierophant, since this card centres around structure and conformity. I tried to show how creativity requires structure to reach its full potential

The Emperor // Neo Traditional

THE EMPEROR

UPRIGHT: Focus, authority, masculinity. Practice discipline and you will succeed in your goals. You may soon be stepping into a leadership role.

REVERSED: Rigidity, recklessness, tyranny. You are holding too hard onto control, or someone in your life is making you feel powerless.

Neo Traditional tattoos also draw heavy inspiration from American Traditional tattoos. While American Traditional tattoos usually used only three colors, yellow, red, and green, Neo Traditional tattoos have a wider range of color and more subtle gradients.

The Emperor is a very masculine card, so I incorporated a lot of straight lines and sharp angles into this design. The helmet and metal elements in the centre also create a shape resembling the symbol for "male".

DAY 5: JOE HILLS

The Empress // Trash Polka

THE EMPRESS

UPRIGHT: Femininity, nature, fertility. You should connect with your own beauty and nurture yourself with kindness. This will bring you joy.

REVERSED: Insecurity, stagnation, overbearing affection. You are neglecting yourself for the sake of others. Don't stifle your own growth.

Trash polka is a modern tattoo style that draws inspiration from collage traditions. It combines disparate elements together into an energetic, abstract design. Trash polka tattoos are normally red and black, but any bold, high contrast color can be used in place of red to achieve the same effect.

Since The Empress is the card of fertility and the feminine, I incorporated iconography like a venus symbol, a flower, and honeycomb into the image. This is also a card representing nature, so I sourced a quote from @joe-hills-said about the shape of the Earth.

DAY 4: ALT HERMIT

The Juppet // Single Line

For the bonus day prompts, I am going to make smaller/simpler designs and put them all together on a flash sheet rather than a tarot card.

I chose to draw the Juppet for Alt Hermit day. For this one, I made a single line tattoo design, which, as you can probably guess, is a design that's made of one continuous, unbroken line.

DAY 3: VINTAGEBEEF

The High Priestess // Watercolor

THE HIGH PRIESTESS

UPRIGHT: Creativity, intuition, mystery. Trust your instincts and learn from the subconscious messages in your dreams.

REVERSED: Repression, confusion, superficiality. You are ignoring your intuition and may be too concerned with getting the approval of others.

Watercolor tattoos come in a wide range of aesthetics inspired by traditional paintings and the texture of brush strokes. These tattoos often have no outlines and contain soft gradients that mimic blended paint or ink.

For Beef's card, I used more geometric shapes than you would normally expect in a watercolor tattoo as his Season 11 is inspired by a retro 1980's aesthetic. I also tried to evoke the feeling of a gateway between worlds, since the High Priestess card is connected with spiritual knowledge and the subconscious mind.

Neo traditional tattoos draw inspiration from multiple older styles, including traditional Japanese irezumi tattoos. In this design I use some traditional irezumi imagery to represent the four elements (fire, water, earth and air), which are usually included on the Magician card.
