Lady with a Cigarette. Carl Schweninger, Jr. (Austrian, 1854-1903). Oil on wood.
Schweninger Jr was the son of eminent German painter Carl Schweninger. Schweninger junior was his pupil, but he also studied the figure at the Vienna and Munich Academies. His works charmingly reflect the fin de siécle lifestyle, part of which was also the manifestation of feminism, as depicted in this painting.
