As a part of the Slytherin House, I choose to see opportunity. If you’ve chosen to see opposition, and I seize your opportunity, I assure you that it is less selfless and more self-serving. In these situations you’ll walk away thanking me.
she hadn’t realized she’d fallen asleep, stomach empty from missing dinner though not necessarily hungry anyway. she woke up just minutes before a voice directed a question at her, crown perked as she looked over the couch towards the redhead. “beats me.” candid answer, only when the girl had mentioned did valentina notice how empty the room was. “is there an astronomy class happening or something?”
elvera shook her head and placed her books down on an empty table to give her arms a rest. “i just finished dueling club- if something else was going on i would’ve heard it.” she stretched her arms and back a bit before a group of slytherins walked back into the common room, sitting down in what seemed like could’ve been their spots before they all left. elvera eyed them all, noticing that they all looked smug and happy with whatever just happened. ( probably just another prank. ) elvera thought to herself.
elvera had just finished up with dueling club and had a ton of homework, along with a few quizzes to study for. the exhausted redhead was lugging all of her books up the stairs, slowly, until entering the slytherin common room. to elvera’s surprise, it was strangely empty. she glanced at the clock on the wall only to confirm that it was well past dinner time, but not late enough where everyone would be in their rooms. there was one person, though. a brunette that elvera had seen around quite often, but not actually spoken to. “hey, do you know where everyone is?”
it had been quite some time since elvera had seen her blonde best friend. the only person that can make her smile, laugh, feel almost anything. they have such a unique bond that it seemed almost strange how elvera was rarely ever seen by anyone else’s side. as if on cue, while elvera was about to text katherine, she looked to the side to see the familiar blonde a few feet away. joy fueling through her system, elvera ran over to katherine and immediately put her arm through hers. “hey, stranger!”
i’m heading out to work in a few but when i get back id love to write with you all! i dont think my posts are showing in any of the tags yet but like this for a closed starter?
another dress. marcus doesn’t know why he’s doing this, why he still does this, but he makes a note of that dress too. he doesn’t think too much about it. it feels natural. as she walks, he follows her. ( there has to be some metaphor here. ) "i’m not looking to make any real changes. i guess i’m just looking to break bad habits.“ he looks at her when he says it, averting his eyes a second later. it felt like a comment that was too much, too far to what they used to be like. ”valentina parkinson. are you gonna try those on?“
elvera averted her gaze from marcus when he said he wanted to break bad habits, assuming that it was a stab at how she treated him. she knew they were toxic, and she treated marcus beyond poorly, but there’s no simpler way to put it other than she just can’t cut him out. she doesn’t know what it is, but the redhead just won’t do it. elvera met his gaze once again as she approached the dressing room. knowing that no one should technically see what she tries on, the chances of someone else having the same dress as one of the two that she’s holding is pretty high. “i am. will you stay?” elvera asked, cutting in a second later. “to tell me if they look good, i mean” she quickly stated, before marcus could assume otherwise. pft, i mean, it’s not like she wanted marcus to always stick around or anything.
this all felt so stupid. marcus wished they could go back to at least being friends, not elvera running from him every chance she got. to be honest, he didn’t even fully understand what happened between them. they were fine then suddenly very not fine. maybe he wished that he could read her mind just for that moment in time so he could understand. "new dress, new year, right? i guess we’re all looking to make changes.“ his eyes followed her hand as she put the dress back, trying to make a mental note of that one in case she actually bought it. not like he was hoping to run into her at the ball. "as always. my mother wanted to go to germany this year though. that was an interesting summer.” clearing his throat, he didn’t know what else to do besides follow her. "who did you get paired up with?“
elvera tilted her head as she listened to marcus mention changes, and she furrows her eyebrows slightly. “and what changes are you looking to make?” she eyed the dress that she was previously holding and took it off of the hanger once again. she folded it over her arm, along with another that she’d been holding since before their interaction, and tucked some hair behind her ear. “germany? that sounds like a good time.” elvera was very slowly making her way to the dressing room, taking a look at anything that caught her eye during the walk. “teddy lupin. what about you?”
elvera had just finally gotten the time to start shopping for the ball. she couldn’t say that was she was feeling was excitement, but it meant something considering that she was putting an effort into going. elvera was calm, taking her time with browsing through all of her options. besides, she comes to this shop often when she’s bored so she already knows most of its options. there was, however, some frantic shopping beside her. the silhouette to her right apparently couldn’t decide on what to even try on, and elvera apparently couldn’t help but chime in. “you should just try them all on.”
marcus didn’t know what it was about him and elvera. on paper, they were like oil and water. two things that just couldn’t mix, but still they end up getting drawn to each other. even in the middle of a busy wizarding town with all their fellow students around them. he knew that he should just turn around and go somewhere else, but that wouldn’t be who they are. "looking for something pretty for the ball? thought you’d have plenty of dresses already.“ it was a bad start, pitiful even. "have a good break then?"
the voice that was suddenly beside elvera was the last that she had expected to hear, especially when all she ever does in run away from him. marcus flint jr and elvera alice goyle are two very, very different people. they’re opposites in every way and that confuses the redhead, why can’t they just stay away from each other? it had taken elvera a moment to turn her head and look up at the taller silhouette, contemplating if he was even real and actually talking to her. ( why do i feel nervous? ) elvera thought, the tightening in her chest only becoming more apparent. she shook it off and finally decided that if she wasn’t going to run, the boy shouldn’t be waiting for a response until the end of eternity. “i do have plenty of dresses, but that doesn’t make any of them the right one.” she put the previous dress that she was looking at back on the rack and took a deep breath, turning to face him fully. “i did. did you?”

hey all! i’m k and this is my cold, distant baby, elvera goyle. bio and some wanted connections under the cut! like this and i’ll come to you to plot!
- elvera grew up as a pure-blood with a loving family.
- all elvera felt while growing up, and still to this day, is an empty inside that she can’t shake. she doesn’t know where it comes from.
- elvera cares for no ones feelings, knows no empathy. the only time she feels anything, is when the thought of dark magic crosses her mind.
- dark magic, to elvera, is fascinating. she sees strength in it that she wants, and it’s more tempting to her every day.
- she doesn’t care about hurting people, has no concern for what other people feel around her. she does what she wants, when she wants. elvera has never severely hurt anyone, but she knows that she won’t care if she does.
- elvera can get angry, though. and when she’s angry, you do not want to tempt her. she’ll do whatever it takes to get the rage out of her system.
- elvera always had and continues to manage straight A grades, finding comfort in knowing that she’s doing the best of the best.
- there is emotion to be felt inside of elvera, but rarely anyone can get it out of her. after years of being made fun of for being too sensitive, she’s mastered pushing everyone, anything, and everything away.
- to make matters worse, she is a closeted bisexual who doesn’t know what to do about it.
- she joined dueling club because she loves to fight and learn, there’s really no other reason.
wanted connections
the best friend: the only person that can make elvera laugh and feel happy, though it falters out of her system quickly. they are joined at the hip and always together.
the casual ex (male): someone elvera thought made her happy, which would’ve changed quickly. they likely ended after a short while because elvera wasn’t able show affection.
the “not” ex (male, since it was public): someone that everyone thought elvera was dating, which scared her. they brought emotions out of elvera that she had never felt before which scared her off, but their connection is so strong that she can’t stay away.
the experiment: a girl elvera hooked up with, who made her realize that she might also be into females.
