I actually ended up experimenting with colors more than I thought, but halfway through the 16th century I didn’t want him to end up in deep vibrant blues his whole life. Blue is still his main color but he’s been known to step into greens and neutral earthy tones.
My theory is that the 14th century was when he was flourishing in his newly minted immortal life and wanted to show off his wealth and magical prowess, hence the insanely dark and vibrant colors that are probably historically improbable and would’ve been so hellishly expensive. Then he got real sick of the attention and switched back to being a scholar for the rest of his life.
