elxyoochunâ:
âAhâŚâ It canât be called a wince, but there just might be a bit of sympathy in Yoochunâs expression. Even if its tempted by laughter at the same time. No, perhaps he really does feel a little remorse for the young lad, but its not enough for Yoochun to quit the ways in which he follows out his plans, the ways in which he plots things out for the purpose of serving himself. âWell that would have been your first mistake dongsaeng,â he says, smiling in a way thatâs somewhat rueful, but not at all giving the younger man what heâs probably looking for. Yoochun is not stricken with his faults, heâs not guilty over his behavior, heâd suspected it would come to this after all. He sighs a little, shaking his head even as the rest of his body looks relaxed, the opposite of the youngerâs thorough tension cause by hurt and anger. âSomebody like me, eh, not the kind of person you should go about putting your trust in.â And while Yoochun doesnât necessarily radiate pride in that sentence, thereâs a certain casualness about him that speaks of the truth, that its genuinely how he sees himself.
"actually, you are the person i should be trusting. you look dullâi thought you would have no one to trade secrets with."
his words cut off, voice brittle, thin. there isnât anger in his voice, only frustration that blisters in his speech, lengthening syllables, quickening others. itâs erratic but masked in subtleties; heâs learned, by now, to conceal the pattern of moods that looms under the surface, that lines his skin, his features, always in wait of the moment it can claw out and wreak havoc.
to calm, junhong looks away, purses his lips. below, fingers curl around the pockets of his jeans. it really isnât the otherâs fault but heâs never been good at taking the blame. responsibility is the one thing heâs been taught to avoid, his parents always found ways of blaming it on mutants, from burnt toast to bad economy. little did they know, though, that their son, the one that pattered to hug them, that they tucked in at night, read stories to, was one of them, the enemy.
he looks back at yoochun, lips softening into a neutral expression.
"it wasnât that bad, at least. you should think of what youâre going to offer in reparations. i donât take treachery lightly."
trick or treat â cjh x lc
The sudden change in atmosphere didnât surprise him. They didnât look like they were one of them - and by look, he felt something was incredibly off with them. Usually these things took place in secluded areas, yes, but the clients were never there before them. That was what tipped him off first. It only served to prove that when given the task at hand, those around him at the time had felt something was strange even before the meeting. Chance had expected something and when the laugh came with insults to their being and then some, the taller of the two mutants hand to contain the little smirk that etched at the corner of his mouth. He had a mask on so it couldnât be seen anyway, but if he let himself have even a moments amusement, heâd be dead too soon - at least, thatâs what his father had caked into his head and perhaps that was one of the things that struck him as right. Zeloâs hand was holding his out of fear, he didnât mind it too much, suddenly remembering Jongsuk when they were younger and how he used to get when their father was being far too strict on them both â especially the younger. He did a subtle squeeze back to give him the small edge of reassurance he knew the the younger mutant needed, but not once did he look away from the barrel of the gun that was pointed right at him. Their human counterparts sneered and grunted for them to speak, to say  something, to show off the fear they couldnât really see with the things that covered their faces. They could only  see Zeloâs hand and the way it gripped on to Chance as he stood a little ways behind him. They commented on it. Homosexual slurs that made Chance briefly close his eyes beneath the mask and brush it off as nothing more than annoying terms to get a reaction. Chance had become to level-headed for that.Â
They were getting aggravated and it was only a matter of time until the gun went off. Before he would let that happen, he tapped into his power and was less than blessed with the power of electricity. It ran through his entire free arm and when he had his chance, his arm extended and he shot them both with a blast with his overpowered hand. Sparks of electricity surrounded his whole and at the exact moment, he yelled to Zelo to run. There was pain shooting up and down his arm because his body didnât like the elements. His skin was too sensitive and the cream he utilizes  before going out every  morning was starting not to work. He was getting too accustomed to the cheap brand and he would need to see a doctor about this later. For now, he was running towards the exit with Zelo, until  he tumbled forward from the sound of a gun and the piercing feeling of something tearing through his shoulder and out the front.  When he was on the ground, he refused to wither there and promptly threw himself back on to his feet with his mind trying to sway from the pain he was feeling.Â
âGO!â
the shot rankles in his ear, mind still blurry from them running, from escaping. somewhere along the way his mind turns off and turns to carnal instinct. thereâs actions sewn into his skin, waiting for this moment, for the pricks of adrenaline to loosen the threads so it can unravel. and it does; dismantled, it takes over him until heâs running because his legs decide to, tugging a wounded chance along because his arm decides upon it, because his fingers curl around whatever purchase he can find on the man. like breathing, junhongâs body acts on his own, autonomous, eyes thin as they search for an exit but canât find any. thereâs a quiet scream that escapes his throat when another gunshot is heard, worry filling him when he sees blood and his hyung in pain. the act anchors him to this reality and the thoughts rush back, heavy enough for him to pause, for him to think of a solution as quick as he can before they can reach them. they look around and every familiar wall is shrouded in panic, blurred into something foreign, something he canât discern fast enough.
"hold on." he whispers to himself, one arm dipping under chanceâs arm as he forces him to a submissive position. thereâs no time to waste and the wound will be taking its toll soon so he lets his conscious shrivel, lets it wither, fall. soon heâs pushing forward and his body flickers, coating chance, too, in the waves of energy until theyâre both heading straight through walls, a completely different direction from where they were going.
he doesnât bother to dodge tables or chairs but drives forward, his body is warm and the only thread of thought he entertains is the layout of the university, a building he knows well. he takes a quick right, a left, always making sure to push himself to guide chance along. instinct guides him down a hallway, through a wall, through shelves upon shelves of pens and notebooksâa storage room. soon his steps are leading them towards a small room, dimly lit, white walls, stark curtains. thereâs a bed in the corner and junhong lays chance atop it. itâs there, with a large, red cross plastered on the wall, with neatly lined cabinets, with machines, wires, and boxes of gloves scattered about that he finally feels safe enough to pause. he finally hears how deep his breaths are, how frantic they climb into his lungs only to be shoved out. his heartbeat drowns his ears, pounding against them like hammers. he falls to his knees, then to his side, glad that the infirmary is hidden by layers of locked doors and thick walls. then his gaze finally lifts to settle on chanceâs figure; soon he clambers forward, stands, and glances over the damage theyâve done. âwe have to do something about it.â he mutters, again, to himself. panic surges through him again, though this time itâs dull, brittle, confidence wearing thin. he leaps to the other side, cuts through the silence to start sifting through the cabinets for gauze and tweezers and whatever else seems useful to their situation.
shit happens â cjh x wyf
His eyes travel across the sky almost dreamily. Though his body seems to lagging far behind his quick moving mind, his tired eyes hung heavily with thick rims of bluish purple attenuating his already aggrieved appearance. Albeit, he might have cared in the past but he had long since forgotten and gave up on appearing decent.
But his mind had been circling around the event at work not very long ago. It had been rather aggravating only for him to realize who it was so late. Furthermore, what was he even thinking breaking into a high security facility? Especially if he was caught. Whatever he was up to didnât seem worth the risk if caught. He could only shutter thinking of all the possibilities of how something could go wrong. But Kris hadnât heard of anything all day about break ins so he assumed the other had gotten out safely. There was no way to contact him to even ask himâ and Kris wasnât sure the other male even remembered him. If he had, he would have said something right? It had been so long Kris could only assume he didnât.
Nonetheless, making his way into the coffee shop, he rubbed his eyes some. Despite all the stress associated with it he just wanted some coffee then to head home to do god knows what. He wouldnât have noticed but granted seeing someone covering their entire face completely suspicious. His eyes narrowed as he realized who it was again. How lucky it seemed. His nose wrinkled as he picked up his order and went past him grabbing the boyâs collar. âYouâre not going anywhere.â He says with a frown pulling him to an empty table gesturing for him to sit. âAnd donât even think about doing that trick again.â
quiet was all he could be. with wide eyes, he complied, sat down, and looked forward, never daring to look the elder in the eyes. it had been easy to escape once, but the second time around was always more difficult. today, it seemed, was the day fate failed him. it caged him in that coffee shop with a crowd of people too large, a pair of eyes too dark, too powerful as they bored into his skull. he lifted his coffee to take a sip in an attempt to seem casual but the liquid was too hot, burning his tongue upon contact. he frowned and looked away, as though if he ignored him enough he would disappear. much like he would have liked to do.
"why are you doing this?" he asked, only loud enough to be heard. the thought of someone eavesdropping had his paranoia running high, cutting his words into  acceptable small talk too vague to be pinpointed. his fingers tightened around his drink, toes wriggling in his shoes. he was never the nervous kind but there was no escape, now; there was nothing but fear to hold on to.
it still didnât make sense. one mistake and he already had an enemy, it seemed. even if he had been kind to the eyebrows with a face, not causing a fuss, only giving temporary entertainment in a surely hellish office. he had seen nothing but brooding looks and angry scowls as he pattered through which only gave him the impression that it was torturous and anyone who willingly worked there was masochistic in nature. but he voiced none of his findings; instead he tucked away his words with tightened lips and waited for an answer, something to unravel the mystery with. "i was playing a bit, geez."
elxbang:
(â Â There arenât a lot of people that seems to be capable of pushing themselves through his thick defensive walls, however though, Junhong seems to have managed to get past them, seep through the cracks and glue the imperfections together. And Bang in his turn doesnât enjoy hugs, itâs something that hasnât made itâs way into his mind since forever, but he canât help but feel somewhat calm when Junhong asks for the hug, as if itâs just natural to him all of a sudden. So he agrees to his request, arms gently tugging the male closer until heâs pressed against his chest, arms wrapping around the thin frame of the younger male.) You must be crazy, asking me for hugs.
more than you know. (* he responds, slim arms settling around the elder. junhong feels the warmth immediately, but it seeps slowly, in calm waves like the sea, drawing closer each time around. his eyes close and he loses himself to the comfort of personal touch, of being hugged, held, especially someone as strangely close as bang. thereâs still so much he doesnât know about him but junhong doesnât judge closeness by facts. thereâs emotions heâs seen, momemnts of observation; he feels as though one neat stroke in the air is another factâanother outlook he has on bang. as though heâs a man without a definite past but, rather, a man weaved together by different patches of emotion, different actions, brooding eyebrows, dark eyes, and those handsome, fleeting smiles. bang extends beyond the absolutes of his path; junhong things to know him, at least, means knowing the beat of his heart, the way sadness lingers like a cloud, hung above him, or even the pains that keep him chained. bang is abstract, and junhongâs only starting to know him. ) i donât know why youâre so against it. theyâre niceâyours especially.
disobedience: kim/zelo
It was with some disappointment that Mr Kim realised the boy was following him. He was hoping to slink away by himself, disappear like his beloved alley cats down the back alleys and back on to familiar, safe turf. Quite literally leave all his troubles behind.
Alas, it wasnât to be. With a heavy sigh Mr Kim tried to feel compassion for the kid. He felt a reluctant burden of care for the young ones who wanted so desperately to fight for their freedom. He couldnât blame them, not really, for wanting to claw back something for themselves in this rotten world. But it didnât mean that he had to particularly like it, or show it either.
âYouâre a real tough guy, huh.â
Mr Kim watched Zelo from the corner of his eye as they cautiously navigated the streets away from the police patrol. The kid looked like he really meant it when he said that he hated him. Again, not much to blame him for. Mr Kim didnât exactly go out of his way to make himself likeable most of the time. Wasted energy, to get close, when half of these kids wouldnât even survive the next few years.
Touch no-one, and no one touches you.
âThis is a fight, a war no less,â he relented, softening his tone just a little from the coldness of before. âLogic and reason have no place in a war. The big men sit in their high towers and draw maps and pretty pictures of their predictions, but none of that matters down here. Here, all that counts is that you try and follow them but keep yourself alive and free, because if you donât, thatâs one more step towards to victory youâve let them take.â
youth brought along a foolish arrogance that blurred the otherâs word until they were a quiet ringing in his earsâmarbled words that had no definite intention, infinite meanings. the only language he understood was that of physical distance and connection, the one that guided him as he pattered behind, always careful in his surroundings. junhong caught a general understanding but let the details slip past, as though his words were water, fluid, clear, but never static. nothing ever rested on his ears or clung to his eyes. it was a stream of water and nothing more.
the seconds that passed hammered his actions into a streamlined set of moves that granted him stealth, invisibility. even if he could walk through walls, it would be of no use to wander around aimlessly, waiting for his ability to suck him dry and leave him shriveled for the enemy to capture him. so he followed, still vaguely angry at mr. kimâs words.
"iâm not talking about those big leaders but the ones that control us. they treat us like expendable puppets. itâs the exact same thing theyâre trying to prevent but they feed us to the fire anyway, feeding it just to call it the enemy."
his eyebrows dipped, weighted by the sudden rage that collected there like dew. fingers tightened into fists, lips curled, spilled, blossomed into neat frown. it was the lack of solidarity that always bothered him the mostâthat lack of cohesion. he envied the enemy for it: they all had a collective hate, something that could bring them together. while they, the mutants, all had varied philosophies, some had conflicting ideas.
it was curious how the reasonable were always the ones to have cracks in their thinking.
Dasom grew up hearing that exact line from her parents. Itâs a line designed to dissuade people from asking questions, to distance themselves from whatever they were trying to hide. And that toneâsheâd learned to associate that tone of voice to denial. She knows subconsciously that Zelo has his secretsâso does she. So does everyone. But something about his response makes her realize that there might be wrong. Thereâs just a enough confusion, desperation, in his voice to make her bite back the scathing remarks lingering at the tip of her tongue. There is a time and place for confrontations. This is not one fo them.
So she backtracks, swallows her pride, and holds out her hand.
"Come here," she murmurs quietly, as though afraid that if she raised her voice any louder, sheâd scare him away. "You look like youâre about to fall apart."
her words point everything with a dull, buzzing sense of normality that he feels their weight in a sudden pinch. junhong feels heavy, dizzy; his own eyes blur her hands, antagonize them, make them monsters. itâs so easy to get carried away in dreams, so easy for his anger to blossom and spread, petals reaching every corner of him to rile him up, to fill him with rage.
"iâm not about to fall apart! i just donât know what youâre talking about!" he takes a step back, almost falls. long, thin arms swing around the air, fingers curling as they try to grip to it for a sense of balance, as though the air can become solid if he claws at it enough. the problem is that only the reverse work; he can become like air, but the air cannot become like him.
junhong sees her out of the corner of his eye as he moves, stumbles, eyes tearing up as fear dances around him and jeers. terror strikes him and his palms begin to sweat, neck moving and rippling while he swallowed thickly.
elxmrkim:
âIs that any way to respect your elders?â
Mr Kim laughed, and his tone was light even though his words were cruel. Say anything with a smile, he had found, and people were much less likely to try and argue back.
âWhat would mother and father say to hear you talking to an ahjussi like that?â
The last words were quieter, murmured as they were into the shell of the young manâs ear. Mr Kim had him pinned up against the wall, waiting for the heavy footsteps of the police to pass. He knew that the boy, already taller and bigger than him, could fight him off, or simply disappear through the wall out of his grasp. He also knew that the boy was going nowhere, because he had the misfortune to be wearing a belt with a metal buckle, had keys in his pocket, a metal stud in his ear. All things Mr Kim could keep a subtle pressure on, to push and pull him where his heart desired.
Once he was confident the police had swept by, he blinked and let Zelo go, dusting him down with busy impersonal hands.
âRemember. Youâre here to follow orders, we all are. So nothing is my fault. The Great Leader-â and here he laughed again, because heâd known a Great Leader before and they are never infallible no matter how they might try and beat the idea into their loyal subjects - âThe leaders always know best. Do your best to remember that and stay out of trouble. Now get out of here before Mother and Father find out their little treasure has been out sabotaging.â
"i hate you." he muttered, the matters of age and respect fluttering past his ears.
in love and war, everything was fair. it was a simple philosophy and one that granted freedom in combat; dirty tactics became the norm, advantages became deciding factors. but junhong had always preferred to stretch out that mentality to fit the rest of his life. because they were in the middle of a warâwhy should restrictions evade the battleground but exist outside of it.
though that particular reasoning was only meant as a logical explanation for his behavior and the lack of formalities. even now, when threats were tossed as though they  were the common currency, junhong held his ground. he remained strong. there was little that he hated more than being patronized, though he bit the inside of his cheek to keep the words at bay, even as they clawed at his throat, wanting to be freed. there was some reason and truth behind mr. kimâs words but junhong was too caught up in superficial priorities to entertain at my fatherâs house.
once freed, he pattered a bit to the side, never leaving the safety of the otherâs company.
he felt control rush back onto him, though he felt an odd weight around his ears, around his neck. âtell them all you want. i can save my ass without your help. and itâs our responsibility to recognize stupid plans from the leaders than to simply follow them blindly. i need reasoning and logic, canât exist without it.â
âCan I help you?â
"s-sorry." he mutters, eyes shut as he tries to block out the embarrassment that rains down on him. his cheeks are pink with shame and his arms fumble to prop himself up. whenever he manages to find purchase, though, a pain speeds up from his foot, ripples past his spine, and spreads, weakening him to the point that he falls back down.
"i canât get up." this time, junhong whispers it, as if itâs a secret minhyuk didnât know. as if having someone fall on him isnât clear enough. heâs not sure where he went wrongâjunhong had slipped through the wall, but somewhere along the way his ankle had been nicked, made solid too early. a rookie mistake, but one that sends him spiraling down into someoneâs way, both figures plummeting down.
"really, really sorry about this." is all he manages to say, anchored down on top of him. at least, he thinks, minhyuk makes a comfortable landing space.Â
elxtaehyun:
Taehyun stopped and looked at the younger boy with a questioning brow. He hadnât thought his offer anything too unreasonable but needless to say the other believed differently. With a small exasperated breath, the waiter leaned his body against and wall of the alley and crossed his arms, a warn and stained dishtowel still clutched in one hand. Honestly, he should still be in the kitchen but with the current lull, he doubted anyone would really miss him. The dull sound of dishes clanking and the kitchen staff yelling could still be heard, though considerably downed out by the thick walls that encased the bistro. âIâm just saying this place is hiringâ I know doing dishes arenât that glamorous but damn, itâs not worth killing yourself.âÂ
junhong studied his hands, fingers long and thin, skin smooth, pale, and consistent. maybe the thought that his hands were never meant for work was wrong; he had always felt entitled, above it all, but when he looked up at taehyun his reasoning faltered. because if junhong had the hands of a prince, taehyun had the face of a young king, innocent, lost, but with a looming power. elegance stretched across it with his tugged eyes and solid nose. his own lips pressed into a thin line and his gaze fell back down to his hands. maybe if life had unfolded differently there would be more creases in his life, fingers nicked and ripped like paper. maybe. âi just really donât think you understandâi canât wash dishes. donât even know how, honestly.â
Theyâre not bolting after he asks, so heâs not as concerned as he should be. Wonbin also knows how to adapt in a situation and spit out a story in order to save his own ass. Liars recognize their own kind.
âNephewâŚâ He has none. Heâs still half-awake, startled by the intrusion and the sight of a kid struggling to breathe evenly and settling right at home. Then he is deciding, calculating, and devising a course of action.
âRight,â he agrees after a moment of pretending to contemplate their story, nodding to himself. âAhyoung must have told you what the passcode was. Did she?â What ripe bullshitâheâs lying through a warm smile because they are. Just wants to see them fail at this charade theyâve adopted in his own place. âYou could have called first, at least.â He almost shot them, gun still tucked behind his back, but that sort of information tends to incite panic so Wonbin chooses to remain silent about it and fills a glass instead.
It is his offering, sliding it purposefully towards them, free hand still wrapped around a loaded pistol.
âSo, nephewâwhy are you here?â He holds tight to the glass before they can take it. âYour parents must be worriedâ?â Silence invades the end of his sentence as he waits for a name.
"uncle, uncle, uncle. momâs right about youâalways quick to pull the trigger. no patience, she says. but neither does she, must be a family thing, huh?" heâs lying through his teeth but heâs smiling, masking it all, from his ragged breaths to the tremble in his knees. panic has left him but the residue it leaves behind is insidious; it breeds a new type of fear as the seconds pull out his breaths, slower each time.
junhong shoots another smile, making sure his cheeks lift, his eyes thin. heâs faked it for so long that heâs weaved together techniquesâheâs made it a science that he follows dutifully. but itâs only as powerful as its user and junhong feels weak, drained. slim fingers curl around the glass before he drinks it quickly, water gone by his next breath.
"as i was saying." he continues, leaning back, steadying his lungs. "she always goes on and on and on about you." he moves his neck along to the circles his eyes make, fingers mirroring the action. he imagines, for a second, that this is what having family must be like; the piecing together of memories, of experiences, all sewn together by a thread of blood that no one quite has the chance to see.
"sheâs right, though, youâre just getting handsome with age. iâm here to make you some food; she said youâre awfully lonely and i thought why not surprise him? thatâs what familyâs for, anyway. nosy but genuine."

( :: Oh. The boy grits his teeth like a beast let loose. His eyes are filled with rage; heâs a wolf and tonight thereâs a full moon. Memories of middle school begin to surge: school boys and girls pulling out his hair, making him eat sand, calling him an orphan. He bites them back, teeth and nails digging into their skin. They bleed. Seven year old Chanyeol gets sent to the principalâs office, they donât; âyou need Jesus,â the man with the funny glasses tells him. Heâs now fourteen, bony and ravenous for a piece of bread. He takes from children and pregnant women: âyou need Jesus,â the cops tell him. Chanyeol looks down at the âkidâ, ready to rip their tongue out with his bare hand ( Jesus never saved me. My God did. How dare you? I am the prophet; the one and only. There are none before I and none after. ) Instead of doing anything brash, he simply gives them the best faked smile and some kind words. Heâs a prophet and men of God do not harm others. ) Iâm sorry you think so. I follow another religion, you see, it keeps me calm. Would you like to hear about it?
any religion is too much for me--so no.
(* he spits his words like sins, heavy with venom. religion only brings the deepest of rages from him, it stirs it awake from where it sleeps in the base of his stomach before it spreads its wings and fills him entirely. for god to exist there needs to be mercy, and he's learned to let go of that delusion. if there's mercy in the world then why is he alive while his parents are caged like birds for having more than the average person, for being gifted without the aid of syringes and serums and the blank faces of men in white coats. mercy doesn't exist, it's only natural that it debases religion as well. the cathedrals are fake, they crumble under logic and the weight of evidence, their pillars cracking, their windows shattering, all before it goes up in a heavenly fire, bright like the gleam is too much. )
anyway, i don't think you'll get much of a response. people cling to their religions pretty tightly. you're gonna need a lot more to loosen it.
(* his mood wavers and he finds himself teetering, on the brink of calm, ready to plunge; but the embers of rage still litter at his feet, painting pains and burns like paint. )

elxjack:
âDonât be so paranoid.â Jack says zipping his backpack to hide the pair of shoes he has stolen from the clothing store down the street. âNobody is after us. Iâve done this plenty of times before.â He admits. Junhong still looks worried and is acting suspicious to those around them. Jack puts his backpack over one shoulder and sighs, "You need to chill."
For most of his life Jack had shoplifted, broken into homes, and pick-pocketed. Even when he had been caught, which had only happened three times before, he was able to get away from the shop owners and authorities. He was too quick for them and hid well. He should have learned by now that shoplifting with others was a mistake. His friends didnât understand his skill or how to âact naturalâ. If he was going to get caught today he wasnât going to wonder how.
"Letâs go before you draw any more attention at us."
He tells Junhong. Jack is already planning a second get away. If they are caught redhanded then he will throw the backpack to Junhong and escape before he can be apprehended. Pfft, Iâm not going to jail.
"i can't be anything but." he muttered, voice light, airy. whether the shop owners or security guards or maybe even concerned citizens, someone would always be after them. jack wasn't aware of just how many eyes were watching, only letting their crimes slip by because they had bigger fish to fry, more complexities to dismantle. they were ants in comparison, but even ants get trampled on.
though he followed his advice and breathed and nodded, eyes teetering between open and closed, awake and dreamy. chill was something he could do well--he knew how to fake it enough that it numbed his nerves until he felt nothing but the vague warmth of being happy, like feeling the sun through a tepid blanket. it was never direct, only a realization.
but now, he thought, would be a perfect time to string it together. his steps were solid, deliberate, but inevitably languid. casual strings wound around him and cut off the awkward weight he carried on his shoulders. maybe there wasn't anyone chasing after them--at least not in the moment. junhong fed off the idea and smiled. "next time you take me with you when you do it, i'll shave your head and stick you in a wall."

elxbbombâ:
fearless? minhyuk gave zelo such an offended look after he heard the other get fed up with him. slowly his expression melted into an unsure expression. was zelo seriously challenging him with this?
"iâve stolen before, do you think i wonât do it again?" minhyuk questioned as he folded his arms across his chest. what the hell was this kid even thinking? he knew the power this kid wielded, but his temper was definitely something else. minhyuk shot the tall kid another look, one that could be simply characterized as annoyance. christ, he was so whiny, this wasnât even about him. their leader wanted something but minhyuk was just here to chaperone.
"did you forget you can walk through walls?" minhyuk questioned, disbelief hanging in his tone before shrugging and rolling his eyes. "and donât talk so rudely to me."
"i can walk through walls but i'm not invisible. one wrong move and i'm a target." he wondered if everyone was out of their mind that day. there were only so many places where he could hide, limbs too stretched out to ever fit in small crevices. even if he could walk through walls he could be seen, and no amount of running could ever fully save him. he'd get tired, their steps would be quicker; he could hyperventilate and fall, break a leg; he could even be shot before he could flicker back into his energy state. with the string of fates hanging above him, it didn't make sense to be so calm.
so he chose to be angry, to spit his words and coat them with venom. it was nothing against minhyuk but against their conditions, the way the universe had shaped their lives.
he crossed his arms and looked away. "i'm still not doing this. i don't even know what i'm expected to do--everything's so sloppily planned. maybe if someone had a brain there would be less risks."

he hates being asked to do things that arenât productive in some way, much like he doesnât like to be touched or like he doesnât enjoy when others come withinhis space. if you were out of sight, you were out of mind. and thatâs how he liked it. but whenever zelo asked, he gave, and so it was a matter of seconds before his arms were wrapped around a slim frame in a firm embrace. he realized that he no longer experienced the overwhelming rush of nauseation settling within the pit of his stomach when he touched zelo, held him close and felt his warmth against his own body.
he smirks to himself and makes sure to look away.
negativity is spewed from his mouth, but he knows better now. zelo isnât that young anymore and, despite the trivial internal battle to keep himself shut off, much like the boy can break the nature of atoms apart without more than a simple thought, he can break apart yonggukâs entire being.
"well you should have brought a jacket. itâs not my fault youâre cold.â his brows furrow, but heâs glad zelo doesnât listen to him (almost ever) because heâs glad he can hold him like his (and he doesnât know why).
"i'm not blaming you for being cold, i'm not blaming anyone. i just--" he pauses, closes his eyes. yongguk's warmth finally seeps in, blanketing over the chill, plucking out the cold that had settled in his bones. he'll never know what the older's secret is to a tepid existence; he figures it's the same with everything. go big or go home--completeness is just yongguk's lifestyle. he almost feels guilty for asking favors, as though one tug of a loose thread will make it all unravel, will bare yongguk, tear him open like a book. but it doesn't, at least junhong doesn't notice. he only grins, letting his eyes thin until they flutter shut and he's laughing, warm chuckles that bump and float like balloons that tie around his tongue.
"i just wanted to be warm. it's my fault, but whatever." a shrug trembles through his shoulders but he doesn't chase after it; his position is too comfortable to be disturbed or compromised. an embrace does wonders but one from yongguk is something else. although slim, his frame carries a power inside, as though yongguk is actually a giant folded into a tall, thin man. junhong smiles again, the residue of his laughter. of course yongguk is a folded giant.
"why do i even need a jacket when you're around." he adds. "you're like a space heater. are you always sick?" junhong blinks his eyes open and gazes at the elder, finally wrapping his arms, too, around his waist as best as he can. his fingers splay and his palms fall flat on yongguk's back, wanting to glean as much warmth as he can from his fevered presence.
the quiver in his spine ceases, no longer cold or freezing, but finally reaching a state of bliss, of comfort.
