Elysia turned 2 today!
Team Elysia Visits Nerdfest Comic Con 2013
We tumbled into Nottingham in the wee hours for the first ever Nerdfest to exhibit at our first ever convention together and what a time was had by all!
Although we don't yet have the first chapter complete, we were still able to garner a heap of interest and create chatter about the upcoming release of Elysia, which you can pre-order on our website. It's so humbling to be around those that love your work and helped put smiles on our faces after months of being locked away, working hard to create the first chapter.
Meeting old friends and making new ones is always a top priority, so if you happened to stop by our table, a huge thank you to you from the bottom of our hearts for chatting with us and pre-ordering the first instalment. Jen's beautiful artwork was a great hit with the giclee prints also.
Also, an enormous thank you to the organisers (thanks Kev!) and staff on the day, you were fab. Be sure to check out some of the few photos we were able to take at the event on our Facebook page.
See you next year for sure!
Team Elysia
We did it!
Thanks to all of 261 of our wonderful backers, we are now funded and can continue working on Elysia. We're very chuffed to be in this position :)

Elysia Kickstarter Launch!
We're very excited to give you news of our Kickstarter launch which starts today and ends on April 24th.
Visit our Kickstarter, take a look at our video and pledge now to get your hands on a copy of Elysia. We have some really awesome rewards that you can get your hands on - as well as be put in the comic itself!
After five weeks of preparation, shooting a video and organising all of the text and images, we're ready for the rollercoaster that lies ahead for the next 30 days.
Thank you!
Escher Girls
Jennie jokingly drew us as Escher girls. Awesome.
For those that don't know, Escher Girls brings together the shames and degradation of drawing and depicting women in comics and popular culture - always with their boobs and arses hanging out; usually to sacrifice decent storytelling.
Sometimes, it's nice to play into and bring light to it... and then snap right back out of it and get back to work!
New website!
We're very proud to reveal our new website design for Elysia!
Have a look and tell us what you think :)

Elysia's Growing!
I'm very pleased to announce that we have some very awesome things in the pipeline for Elysia in the coming weeks! My sleepless nights and our continuous days of working and burning the candle at both ends are soon to come to light with all the work we're producing.
A small glimpse of what's coming;
Promotional video (this has a specific purpose which will become clear).
New, shiny website (we know the old one needs a lot of work and we're on it).
Promotional images and MORE COLOURED ARTWORK!
Brand new logo!
More script work (this goes without saying, really).
Newer Concept Art
Some of the newer, though minor, characters...
We're still debating whether or not to release the graphic novel in black and white or colour. Both have their upsides and downsides. What do you think, friends?

UPDATE: Colour wins by a big margin. Thank you for taking part!
Angel to Anxo
I created a term for angel to use for my graphic novel as I don't particularly want any characters to be confused with religion in any way. I don't have anything against religion, but as there are already pre-existing angelic concepts and labels associated with religion, I wanted to move away from those entirely.
The beings in my story have wings and a significant amount of power (akin to superheroes - although this is not a superhero story), so it would be better to focus more on the fantasy elements that bring Elysia closer to her identity, along with the science mentioned previously.
Inside the story, angels are known as 'Anxos' (singular: Anxo) and there are either Anxos or Fallen Anxos. The significance of each becomes clearer as the story progresses and they are marked by each individual logo below.

Fallen Anxo logo
It doesn't take a genius to notice that the Fallen Anxo logo is simply an upturned Anxo logo, but it may take a genius to spot what's actually very clever about the Anxo logo.
Can you spot it? ;)
Second Draft Complete
After many edits and a lot of head scratching, I am pleased to announce that the second draft of the script is complete. It now sits at 43, 478 words and 355 pages.
Obviously, this will require more editing to bring it down to 300-ish pages. I'm hoping the last round of edits are the final round of edits as this beast is becoming more and more complex to work on.
We now sit at almost 50 characters - main characters plus menial ones. I say 'menial' but, of course, I mean 'necessary' ;)
Round we go for another round of edits!
More Concept Art
I'm deliberately not sharing all of the images we have because some things are best left discovered over time.
Given it's the new year, though, I thought I'd show you some more - happy new year everyone! This is the year for Elysia to take flight; I can feel it :)
Science of Elysia
Despite being a fantasy (and what most would argue, a religious) concept, Elysia is actually incredibly science-based. The concept of angels aside, all the arcs* that occur are simply energy particles being moved from one place to another by an angel.
Given Elysia's dad, Max (pictured), is a well-known scientist with some amazing discoveries that aid the angel species, I've enlisted the help of a scientist friend to make sure all the technology I've invented is actually within the realms of possibility - obviously some time in the future, perhaps not now.
*Term I've created for how the angels manipulate energy particles in the air.
