Damn girl u gud??? What the hell is going on in Amphoreous??? ššš I personally didnāt get to the end of the quest since idk why itās dragged on for so long + confusion. But whatās your thoughts on how it concluded?
Personally? I really liked the ending itself. I think for āAmphoreusā, it was realistic and fitting. There's a lot of mixed opinions going around now, and quite a lot of them are simply āI didn't like this I didn't like thatā, to which, everyone has the right to feel, I'll not blame anyone for that. The story pacing felt rushed.
The storytelling was obtuse and too verbose at points that were fundamentally very simple.
The final boss battle could've definitely been more... grand? In comparison to how much of a threat Irontomb was built up to be, the gravity of the boss battle didn't quite match up to it. They also could've let the other factions participate more.

Overall the execution could've been wayyyy better.
Now, the ending of Amphoreus.
Amphoreus, as a simulated world once headed towards certain destruction, is not only saved, but is and will be cherished by the entirety of the universe until its true genesis. It doesn't just stay within the boundaries of HSR, it tries to resonate with us. The people within the HSR universe will read, interpret and spread the tale of Amphoreus, they'll fall in love and think, āWhy can't these characters be real?ā Just as WE, the ones in the actual reality, do. And Amphoreus' growth will be facilitated the more people make wishes like these.
Not to mention, several factions are working to make Amphoreus real. It wasn't just saved with "the power of love and friendship" in the cheap sense. There is an active effort being made here. Even the Exotale/Eternal Page was possible due to Cyrene's sacrifice. Amphoreus and the Chrysos Heirs didn't just become real with one snap of fingers. The love that nurtures Amphoreus is not empty, it's backed by meaningful actions. There's an insinuated āall of this is worth it for this worldā here, thus adding a certain value to the Amphoreus of the future.
Amphoreus is not doomed. Amphoreus is eternally cherished. Amphoreus will return, as a true world. And I think that's beautiful.
As a reader, writer and fan, I felt seen through this ending. Because if you think about it, this is how all stories come close to touching reality, not just Amphoreus or Honkai Star rail. The affirmation that we, as the audience and appreciators, play such a crucial role in making a story come alive is precious to me. Through affirming this, it feels as though the writers have also left a request to us.
My biggest worry throughout Amphoreus had been Phainon. At first, I also felt rather lost for him in particular. I'm not exactly sure what everyone who say that they're dissatisfied with Phainon's ending exactly wanted, some say that they wanted him to be a Lord Ravager and/or trailblaze with us. But after thinking about it a bit more, I'd say that that wouldn't have been fair at all to Phainon.
Phainon has always been a man of simple wants, who found happiness in fulfilling others' wishes, who merely wanted a peaceful life with and for his friends and family. He's at last free to choose and think about his own desires, he can at last rest.
Though, I do think that they certainly could've taken a bit more time to ease him and the other Heirs to their current situation on screen. Because I'm sure seeing Phainon appear to be as if nothing happened threw many of us off initially. But at the same time, I can also see why he's acting the way he is. He feels encouraged to behave this way because all his friends and family are finally with him and they're not within the Scepter's control anymore. Not just because hiding pain behind smiles is a classic Phainon technique.
They definitely could've spent a bit more time on āKhaslanaā, they could've given him closure (perhaps a chat with OG Cyrene), addressed and answered some questions about him. But I think Phainon not becoming one of the Lord Ravagers was for the best. Although it would've been cool in theory to have a Lord Ravager who opposes the Destruction be on our side, Phainon deserves to rest and live a normal life. My personal critique is in how they rushed in these cases on screen, not Phainon's general outcome. If Phainon is happy, I'm happy as well.
