You’re the owner of an odd business. The legality of it is dubious to say the least, but where you live there are no laws prohibiting the selling and general exporting of human bones and, at the end of the day, your company’s policy clearly states that it cannot be held responsible in case one of your providers turns out to be selling you bones that were acquired illegally. 

Recently, you’ve received an awful lot of letters predicting your downfall. They say that during a full Moon a curse will spread through the country and make the skeletons of the dead rise. Now, you were never one to be superstitious, so you shrug this off as some sort of weird prank. 

So you made the mistake of staying in your company’s studio working late into the night, only to start hearing odd movements and grumbling coming from outside your office.

“Are you hurt?” A asked, helping the stranger inside. They didn’t see blood, but their clothes were shredded.

“I’m fine, just a little dizzy. Sorry I passed out on your porch.” The stranger chuckled nervously, tugging on what was left of their shirt.

“Do you need to go to the hospital?”

“No, I don’t. Seriously, I’m fine. I appreciate your concern-“

“What happened to your clothes?” A interrupted. The stranger opened their mouth and closed it abruptly.

“I should be going-“

“Are you a werewolf?” A asked, eyeing them sceptically. The stranger was quiet for a moment.

“Yes.” They sighed, hunching their shoulders as if they were ashamed. Really, they were. Nobody wants to be a werewolf, it just happens.

To their surprise, A didn’t look scared or disgusted. In fact, they looked... relieved.

“See- you could have just said that instead of worrying me to death.” They grinned. The stranger was endlessly confused.

“You don’t- but then, they caught sight of two sharp fangs in A’s smile, and everything made sense.

Superpowers only manifest out of great danger or trauma, and they are related to the manner with which they were obtained. For example, a character gains the power to manipulate water after almost drowning, but since they were only underwater for about three minutes, they can only use their power in three minute spurts. In contrast, longer term trauma yields stronger/ less fatigable powers.

Unfortunately, this causes greedy parents to try to induce powers in their kids, and though a whole division of social work is dedicated to catching these parents and protecting children, social workers are often paid to look the other way.
