I love the deleted Gallavich scenes from season 10 but I can actually live without them not being in the actual episodes. But do you know which deleted scene I’ll be forever upset they took out though? The Lip and Ian scene from 7x12. Not only is an excellent brotherly exchange (which is one of my favourite things ever), but it also really adds depth and nuance to Ian’s feelings about leaving Mickey at the border.
Bascially: he’s really not sure that he did the right thing. (And I, for the record, absolutely think he did the right thing, but I’m still very, very, very happy to see him feeling hesitant about it, torn over it.) He repeatedly seeks Lip’s reassurance that he did – or did not – make the right call: “Stupid, right?” he asks, and “You think I should have?”
(Sidenote: the line about the sex being fucking fantastic is fucking fantastic. HELL YEAH IT WAS! I also love that Lip asks about it so casually: he knows they had sex, he is zero percent concerned about Ian cheating on Trevor, he just wants to know if his brother got properly laid.)
But the most important bit, the best bit, is when they start talking about Lip abstaining from alcohol and Ian goes: “Is that a thing again?” and Lips nods yeah, he’s trying.
“How many days?” Ian asks.
“At this point I’m just counting hours,” Lip says and this is the point, I think, where Ian realizes that oh, that’s what he’s been doing, too. Counting the hours until the ache passes; until the longing fades; until he once more can pretend not to remember what it feels like to have Mickey’s arms around him.
And so, when Lip says that he’s glad that Ian came back… Ian doesn’t answer. Because maybe it was the right call, but he’s not sure that it was, and he sure as hell isn’t glad.
I mean, he tries and he tries and he tries, for the next few hours and days and weeks, but this time he can’t do it. Looking back at the past year he can’t unsee the lies he’s told himself and others, and yes, there’s been good things too, worthwhile and real things and maybe he wouldn’t undo any of them, but having seen Mickey again, having had the ruse exposed, he can’t go back to fooling himself that Mickey doesn’t thrill and fulfill him in a way no one else can.
And this, I think, adds a lot of context both to his feelings regarding letting Mickey go and his downward spiral in season 8. It is an excellent and important scene and it is the one scene that should not have been cut.
a lot of mickey’s actions of love seem bigger than ian’s because he was able to make bigger gestures of love. mickey was in a much more dangerous position than ian when it came to being gay and being in a relationship, so when he takes steps to show his love for ian they seem bigger because they’re more dangerous.
e.g. mickey coming out in season 4, mickey breaking out of prison to see him, mickey getting himself thrown back into prison for ian and so on.
a lot of fans equate these ‘bigger’ gestures to mickey being more in love than ian is, when in actuality ian just doesn’t have the opportunity to put himself at risk for mickey the way that mickey does.
ian can’t come out for mickey like mickey does, because none of ian’s family would care like mickey’s family does. ian can’t break out of prison because he’s never in prison. ian can’t get himself thrown into prison for mickey, because let’s remember ian had a family and a life he would be leaving while mickey had no family in mexico and was working for a cartel, so not much of a free life either.
even so, when ian does have the opportunity to do something dangerous for mickey, he does it. he drives through the entirety of america with mickey, even though he’s an escaped convict with the whole of chicago after him and not much of a plan. he was about to shiv someone to stay with mickey in prison because mickey was UPSET. not to save mickey’s life or their relationship, just because mickey was sad and insecure about ian leaving. like hello?? (im gonna write more about this in another post because i have more to say on it).
he turns up at mickey’s wedding in s3 despite the potential risk (because he knew terry was there and wanted to kill him) to try and save mickey from a life he would hate, full of lies and control and pain.
and let’s not forget about the other huge gestures of love ian makes that may not be as dangerous but are just as meaningful. he gives mickey two years worth of his savings at the border, when that money obviously means so much to ian since he grew up with nothing and worked his ass off for it. he pushes through his fear of commitment and proposes to him (after beating people up for mickey, which is definitely mickey’s ideal proposal). he tells Lip off for hitting him even when him and mickey are arguing a tonne.
i’d even argue that the porno ian filmed was him trying to do something for mickey. people ignore it because it was clearly a misguided decision and ian was manic at the time and it was a truly terrible situation, but even so, ian saw that they needed money and did everything he could to get them money, not realising the impact it would have. remember, ian’s grown used to seeing his body as a commodity. he seems genuinely surprised that mickey was upset about it, because he probably thought mickey would see his body as a commodity too.
anyway, all i’m saying is that NO mickey doesn’t love ian more than ian loves mickey. they love each other equally. it only may seem like ian loves mickey less or mickey loves ian more (to some fans) because the things that mickey does for ian are more dangerous and life threatening. they’re only like that though because they have to be, and ian’s not in the situation to do that as much.
i know this probably sounds really convoluted, but it’s just my argument to why people seem to think mickey loves ian more or ‘fell harder’ and why that’s bullshit.
yk what frustrates me about so many gallavich fans: there will be a clip of ian and mickey being so in love and down bad for each other. like equal levels of horny and heart eyes. and the comments will be “oh mickey loves him so much” or “mickey is so in love” or “look at how mickey looks at ian” or even “mickey cares so much about ian.” like ian isn’t right there being a loser simp just as much. in fact i think ian invented “heart eyes” in s1 (according to academic research). fans dismissing ian’s love for mickey will always be my roman empire (i don’t even know if im using that correctly)
I think this might be many fans Roman Empire. Mickey stans go hard and sometimes it leads to people actually hating Ian and that makes me upset.
I think part of what comes across is the high stakes Mickey has to face. His life is at risk because he's gay and because of those high stakes fans read that as Mickey loving Ian more. But Ian has those same risks, Terry could easily kill me just like he could kill Mickey. And the fact that Ian's mental health has so much to do with his relationship and his gay identity, it's amazing that he still ends up getting married to Mickey.
Mickey and Ian both love each other to the extreme and they are each others best support system because no one else in their world have faced the trauma that they have faced together.
“What?” Ian asks, furrowing his brows. “No, I’ve got someone coming.”
“I know,” he says. He has the decency to put a sheepish expression on his face. “You’re not allowed visitors today.”
“What? What the fuck are you talking about? I always have—“
“I know,” the man swallows, shaking his head. “They should’ve talked to you about this. But, y’know, after this morning, they just thought it’d be best for this week if you were focused on yourself.”
“Focused on myself?”
“Yeah, y’know,” he shuffles from foot to foot. “They just think you don’t need any distractions right now.”
“Distractions?” Ian almost shouts. “No, Mickey’s not a distraction, what the fuck? I’m supposed to be seeing him today. I only get an hour once a week and you’re taking it from me?”
“Look, it’s not my decision. I don’t have any say in—“

do you have any other fanfics in mind to write? 🫶🏻
I do! I'll give a little rundown on some things I'm working on here:
the last chapter of invited intruders
another couple chapters of one of my old (and not very popular, but I love it) fic heard you can save me. I have an aim to finish every multi chapter I start, so it will be finished at some point if anyone was wondering about that.
an angsty one-shot about Mickey being suicidal in his first prison stint and Ian finding out about it. (I know that's dark, sorry)
another angsty one-shot about Ian in a psych ward around s4-5 time but AU, so a different psych ward and a whole different bunch of things. I've pretty much finished this one, actually, but I'm kind of nervous about posting it so if you guys are interested in that please let me know.
(they'll both have happy endings, just so you know. I can't really do sad endings)
Hey, just wanted to tell you that I started reading Invited Intruders yesterday, and I'm OBSESSED. Once I'm done I'll be making my way through your other fics. 🥳 (Also, not sure if you've already been asked this, but do you have any fic recs or your fav gallavich fics?) X
Hey! Thank you so much! I really appreciate it <3
Honestly I like way too many fics, so I'll give some of my favourite fanfic writers instead because all of their stuff is good. I've been reading a lot of fics by ifallonblackdays_fics , sam_writes_fics @sam-loves-seb on here (I know I talk about her work a lot but she really is amazing <3) and biblionerd07 .
I'm sorry, I'm not great at recommending fics overall because it would be such a long list, but I really hope you like this authors!
i lwk think the clothes mickey wears in s11 are the ones ian has bought for him. as ian is the skinny jean wearer. i also think mickey appears to be wearing lots of ian’s clothes in s10 + 11 so he probs didn’t have much left once he got back from prison and ian is ginormous in s11 so lots of his clothes probs no longer fit. so mickey is wearing hand me downs from his hunky husband and clothes he’s been bought as i doubt mickey buys clothes. i also think ian wants mickey to dress less like a milkovich. but i 100% agree with you! i love his 90s boy band type aesthetic he has in the earlier seasons!
I can see Mickey borrowing Ian's clothes, though I doubt Ian's clothes included jeans THAT ripped. I saw someone say that Mickey might have ripped them himself and maybe that's what happened. Even with Ian possibly growing out of his clothes, Mickey's still a lot shorter than him, so I'm not sure if they'd be able to share jeans.
I don't think Ian wants Mickey to dress less like a Milkovich. Out of all the Gallaghers, I'd say Ian's the least judgemental over the Milkoviches as a collective. He's friends with Mandy, seems chill with Iggy, even has that chat with Terry about prison. He just hates Terry. I don't think Ian would want Mickey to separate from his family like that when Ian was never too judgy about the Milkovich lifestyle.
Also, he fell in love with Mickey when he was 'dressing like a Milkovich', so I don't think he has much of an issue with it. I can't remember the exact quote, but Ian literally says he 'fell for' the 'bitch-slapping piece of trash' in Mickey. I feel like the clothes come with that a bit, so I don't think Ian took issue with it.
Thank you for the ask! I also love the look from the earlier seasons much more than from the later ones. :)
Hi! I’m not sure if you’ve been asked this before, but what do you think of Linda as a character? I find her really interesting, I just wanted to ask your thoughts?
Hey! I definitely think Linda's an interesting character. She's incredibly well-written and I love how she's very morally grey in a way that's classic to shameless. I really like that she's not a pushover and refuses to coddle Kash's incompetence. I mean, from what we see of their relationship before she finds out about Ian, Kash is USELESS. He can't stop their store from being robbed, he doesn't really take care of the kids, he lies to her and he's not very emotionally present in the relationship at all. So, all around a shit husband even aside from the cheating and noncing, which I'll get onto in a second.
She stays firm the whole time, though. Very clearly sick of his shit and refuses to let him get away with things. This gives the impression that she's put up with it for a long time and maybe she tried to have sympathy at first, but Kash remained useless.
I also really like that Linda stayed true to her beliefs the whole time. I feel like a lot of people in the Southside and maybe a lot of watchers of the show thought she became Muslim for her husband or something (I only assume this because she's white and people make a lot of judgements about that), but her faith is very clearly separate from her husband. She says 'I'm a white Muslim' after she finds out about Kash and Ian, which I think shows that her religion is very important to her and not something she would leave if she left Kash. I really like that aspect of her character, because while I don't think Shameless did the best job of being inclusive, I do think that's a really interesting way of presenting her.
A lot of shows, especially back then, would have portrayed it negatively as the husband forcing the wife into his religion, but this is clearly not how Linda's character is established and I like that. I really like that she stands on her own two feet as a person and isn't just Kash's wife.
I don't like that she saw Ian as the bad guy when she found out. I do like that she definitely saw Kash as a worse person than she saw Ian, but still, she blamed Ian for 'screwing her husband' when he was being groomed. I do think this is part of what makes her character so well-written though, because it's probably a very accurate representation of the time and the area. It's something someone would do and it's made obvious to the viewer that this is a bad reaction because you're made to feel sorry for Ian, which I think shows that they did something right.
(There are the few people that blame Ian for his and Kash's relationship and seem to think Ian did something wrong there, but I think that's fucking insanity.)
Anyway, yes, I think she's very well-written as a character. I like that she's shown to be witty and smart and not easily deceived by Kash's lies (shown with the scene where she finds out about him and Ian, she'd clearly planned out how she would act as she already decided not to tell the kids and she was overall very measured in that scene).
I also like that her emotions are always presented as valid, for example when Kash says 'what about my mother' and she says 'you bastard, what about me!'. It serves to make Kash seem like an even worse person, which I also like because I hate him.
I do think that punch should've gone to Kash instead of Ian, obviously. But again, it's accurate to how people tend to act in those situations (blaming the victim) and the show critiques it.
you know, reducing ian's emotional complexity to an outdated dynamic where "one felt first" and the other "felt more" delegitimizes all the experiences and processes of both him and mickey, individually and together, while completely losing the meaning of their relationship's nature? I can buy it at the beginning and even then there are so many layers to deal with that are just as problematic, but if you're telling me that ian wasn't affected by having to cancel his wedding after terry set the place on fire, or that he wasn't in an internal battle when they separated for all of s11 and he "didn't care about mickey", then you have no eyes and you're certainly not capable of creating a complete picture of his character's entire life process. Putting a meter on love and feelings as if they could be something tangible, canonical, conceptually rigid, and above all normative, is absurd. Especially within a dynamic like theirs and within characters that are anything but extremist and "pure" in their decisions and emotions.
15. “Finally. Missed you so much.” but make it sort of in front of other people??🙏🙏🙏 if u want. it's okay if not, too!

It had only been a week. A week filled with phone calls and text messages and a whole bunch of facetime—but, fuck, it had been a week.
Did Ian really have to go on and visit Fiona alone with Lip? Was it really that necessary for him to travel all the way to the alligator land just so they could help Fiona switch apartments? Mickey didn't see the point of the long-ass trip to Florida just so Ian could complain about how humid it was and how it was a blessing he didn't share a room with Lip anymore.
Mickey missed him. He missed him a lot more than he thought he would, and he really should've considered the fact that he and Ian spent most of their time together. They may have been apart before for long periods of time, but it was hard to tear them away from each other nowadays.
So maybe it wasn't that much of a surprise he'd had a hard time adjusting to the empty space of their apartment and the coldness of their bed. The lack of dad jokes during their long rides at work and the unmistakable scent of Ian that had been slowly fading and was almost gone now.
That was Mickey's excuse for not doing laundry. He didn't wanna lose Ian's smell from their home. The sappy excuse would probably work with Ian, he thought.
And even if it didn't, Mickey could distract him from his annoyance in other ways.
Airports sucked.
Being in an airport, waiting on Ian and Lip with their family of twenty thousand—or six, whatever—sucked even more.
But the plane had already landed and it would be just another couple minutes before Mickey saw his husband for the first time in a week. Before he wrapped his arms around him in a bone-crushing hug. He didn't even give a shit if anybody saw him and thought how big of a fag he was.
Husband. That was the only thing on his mind currently.
"They should be here already," Tami said, bouncing Fred up on her hip.
Debbie shrugged from beside Mickey, one hand tightly holding onto the redheaded girl between them. She was fisting the fabric of Mickey's jacket, and it made Mickey smile. It eased the anticipation a little.
Who was he kidding? There were swarms of bees in his stomach, poking and stinging. He felt slightly nauseous.
"I think I see Lip!" It was Liam who exclaimed.
Mickey didn't see Lip.
But he did see the redhead trailing right behind him, a suitcase in his right hand, recently bought for the trip. His hair was ruffled, and his eyes were sleepy, the jet lag probably hitting him in full swing.
Still, the green orbs Mickey missed so much lit up the moment he noticed Mickey, the corners of his mouth twisting up into a wide smile.
Mickey wasn't any better. He could feel the grin stretching across his face involuntary, yet he did nothing to hide it. Nothing to stop it from spreading. He didn't care to hide the excitement he was feeling upon seeing Ian for the first time in a week.
A week.
His legs moved on their own accord, and in what felt like no time at all, he was engulfed into a hug, Ian's long arms circling him—it was familiar; comfortable, and warm.
"Fucking finally," Ian choked out against Mickey's hair, his lips pressed to the top of his head, cradling his body gently. "I missed you so much."
Mickey tilted his chin up and their lips connected in a brief kiss. Just a peck that turned into a couple more, all loud on the pullback, their limbs still wrapped up in each other.
"Missed you more."
They stared into each other's eyes longingly for a couple of moments—it was probably too soft and sappy for them, but who gave a shit? They hadn't seen each other in a week.
What interrupted them eventually were a few short coughs, as if somebody was clearing their throat.
Mickey glared at Lip, practically forcing himself to tear his eyes away from the man he was holding.
"We done with the reunion or you guys wanna continue making out in the middle of the airport...?"
Ian was the one who flipped him off, finally disentangling himself from Mickey so he could greet his siblings properly and pick Franny up into a long hug. It made Mickey frown, the loss of contact. He forced himself to endure it, though—half an hour of a ride longer and they'd be home alone, free to do whatever the fuck.
Still, as soon as they were done with the obligated reunions and the questions about Florida and Fiona, Ian found himself next to Mickey again, gripping Mickey's palm and intertwining the fingers with his own.
Who gave a shit if anybody was looking? Who gave a shit if Lip was rolling his eyes at the obvious display of affection or if Carl was making obnoxious kissy faces at them as if they haven't been married for a while now—Mickey saw none of that shit.
the other small scene i love in s11 is when mickey is walking back into the bar having just tried to get “swol.” he’s like i hate working out it sucks or something and then “no wonder ian’s always in a bad mood.”
and i love it as 1) we all think mick is the grumpy one but he thinks ian is, 2) it’s just so sweet on the whole i can’t tell you why, 3) it’s a snippet in their lives that implies we don’t see so much of mickey being the no 1 victim of ian and The Chin and he always thinks ian is nagging him etc and i love that too
something that would have been totally in character that i’m glad they didn’t do is lip blackmailing mickey. by that i mean that lip knew mickey was gay long before any of his family did. he even dated mickey’s sister during this time. i feel like i could see lip trying to get favors from mickey by threatening to out him
I can see why you think that as Lip is definitely the type to blackmail people into getting his way, he's clever like that, and we can assume that he wouldn't really see outing someone as very morally wrong in the first seasons because he doesn't really understand being gay at all.
But I still don't think he would do that because one, who would believe him? two, he would definitely get beaten up for even trying it, three, he didn't do anything that would have fucked up Ian's life. He could have blackmailed Kash, too. He even says he wanted to call the cops on Kash. But he doesn't, because he doesn't do things that mess with what Ian wants.
Also, he didn't stand to gain much from blackmailing Mickey. He didn't need much from him throughout the show. The only possibility I can see is if Lip had a massive problem with Mickey and Ian shagging, so he tries to blackmail Mickey to get him to stop. But again, he would just get beaten up for it.
Sorry for such a long reply, this ask was just super interesting!
hii do you know any fics where the boys beat tf out of each other (and i guess make up after but thats less important i just want to see them fight) 💔💔
im pretty new to the fandom and havent been into fanfic in years so i still dk the best way to find ones that specific. theres no tag for physical fight that i can find on the gallavich fanfic library or ao3 :-( tysmmm i love all the fics you recommend and how you contribute to the community
hey! Um, I really can't think of any off the top of my head. There used to be a gallavich fan fiction library on here where you could ask for fics and they would find it for you, but I'm not sure it exists anymore. If anyone knows the account, maybe there were some asks similar to yours if you scroll down which could give you some fics. I'm not sure though.
The closest I can think of is one of my own fics stupidly named I'll fight everyone but you where they fight and then make out. I can't confirm if it's good or not though because I really cannot read any of my older fics. (Honestly, that might be the only good scene in it. I think it's in chapter 3)
eii,are you going to continue the invited intruders fic with another ''series'' after it finishes. It would be lovely!
I do have ideas and loose plans for some sort of continuation of it. I don't think it would be written soon, unfortunately, because I want to do some stuff outside of that universe for a bit. It also probably wouldn't be another long, multi-chapter fic with 100k+ words. I want to take a break from those for a while and focus on writing an actual book (because I want to be an author some day), so it would probably be a couple of long one-shots, I'm thinking like 20k words each maybe.
