Obito jerked a thumb towards his face, particularly towards his eyes. His vision was horrible these days and often went in and out of complete blindness. Excess use of Mangekyo, even years ago, was still biting him in the ass.

“Hngh...” As usual, Minato-sensei was right. It wasn’t enough to simply awaken the sharingan, especially if he was going to beat Kakashi with it. Obito huffed in frustration and starting to tug down his cheeks to widen his eyelids.

Guess they pardoned anyone fully, eventually… not that Sasuke was one to talk. First Orochimaru, now Obito… At least it meant Obito had really turned himself around. Can’t say the same for the former.

He decided to take off his mask, given who his current company was. There was no need for it.

“Naruto is pretty soft,” He admitted, nodding. “And Kakashi is backing him up. Guess it helps to have two kage vouching for you.” He eyed Sasuke, who he hasn’t seen in years. He may be grown but he hasn’t changed all that much.

Obito was growing impatient. Day after day his heart ached no matter how hard he tried to put his past behind him it caught up with him all over again. Seeing Kakashi so much as their plans were going into motion was stirring his empty heart.

He decided to talk to the real Madara.

“This plan is convoluted,” He stated firmly. “It’s taking too long.”

A vague way of saying that he was starting to have doubts.

It’s been some many years since the fateful days of the 4th shinobi war. The village has placed some leniency on Obito for good behavior and he was allowed to actually leave if he wanted to. He made sure to wear a mask, however, as the other villages didn’t share the same level of mercy as Konoha did.

It was a strange comfort to be out on his own, face shielded from the world. He made sure to keep to himself most times, save for the one other Uchiha---

“Sasuke,” He greeted. “Didn’t think I’d run into you out in the wilderness.”
