              a DANGEROUS move in this game of CHESS, bringing up blame for               Osgood.             Kate was not going to let that go easily.          Her cup                reached the saucer more forcefully this time, an unusual BETRAYAL               of emotion for Kate, but this was about more than her work.   She was                staring DEATH in the face                       and she was not in the mood                to l o s e. TRUTH: she had not understood what she was facing, this                hell-beast, this entity, but neither had the DOCTOR. And something                had to be said for that.

              the true colours of DEATH were showing, the charade up, and finally               the pretense of CIVILITY over. Thank heavens for that, the simpering               lady of grandeur was tiresome.

  Of course she knew    and that was one of Missy’s many many    advantages over UNIT and the Doctor. Knowledge, she knew they    would be there, waiting for her and her little army,     she knew they    did not stand a chance against her.          She knew she could swat    them all like flies and she did - OH, she did.        A half smile crept    onto her features, she was enjoying this far too much.      The steel    worn by a Lethbridge-Stewart was delightful,   but the anger of one    was  something  more  and  it made the Eternal  want to dig deeper,    push more buttons.        See to what extremes she could take Kate.

              “As I’ve said - I don’t take kindly to being shackled.”

  It was a lie,   she could not care less for being imprisoned,   escape   was easy.   Her real motive was the Doctor, and how he had wanted   to take Osgood on as another of his stewards.        Some would say   jealousy, but really           the loss of a companion was always hard   hitting for the Doctor,   and one lost before she could ever travel was   just  another of  Missy’s many ways  to bring the Doctor down to his   knees. An even greater loss came later,   but opportunity struck and   Missy just couldn’t say no.

             “You might think I’m terrible, dear.    But really, it’s what I do.               And you - you only care for poor Osgood, don’t you?      What               about the two other soldiers I killed?          They had lives and               families, people that cared for them.       But you didn’t shed a               single tear for them, did you? 

                                         NO - they’re just cannon fodder, after all.”
