Dance is more than just a hobby within the Belyayeva family. Ballet has followed every woman in the family for generations; passed from her grandmother to her mother, then from her mother to Yuliya and Yekaterina. Much like her older sister and her mother, the passion for dance was passed down to her & passionate she was. Yekaterina was never competitive, but her perfectionism shaped itself as just that — she couldn't handle her own failure, couldn't handle missing a step or wobbling on her turns. Yekaterina couldn't. handle. failure.

Despite dance ruling her family strictly, Yekaterina never saw it as something she disliked or hated — she'd grown up seeing her big sister dance, and what a beautiful dancer she was! Despite being in her own dance classes, Yekaterina would've rather watched Liya dance all day if she could've. Her sister's injury that eventually led to her being unable to go back into ballet was one more push to perfectionism that Yekaterina needed. She was understandably concerned, worried, for her big sister with the injury and the murky aftermath of it all, but she couldn't handle being a failure. Not that Liya was — she'd never be in Yekaterina's eyes — but she wants to ensure she never felt that way.

Thinking about how quiet Kalyani is when she's not speaking. She's silent when she moves, embraces silence so she can better hear the nature and the trees around her. That she wants nature to be heard more than her, that she wants to hear whichever god she serves more than anything.

Sometimes I look at Brynnox and I'm like "deers would like you. Birds would sing back to you. Rabbits wouldn't run away from you." and I fear I'm just describing a disney princess but OH IT'S HOW I FEEL OKAY??

I get so sad thinking about Brynnox being on a street somewhere and being so confused about something and/or seeing something new that she tries to stop people and ask them for help and people just walking by and not answering her. Brynnox being so helpless and scared and confused on Earth is just constant & I'm gonna go cry, like I'm fully imagining her just standing and slowly she stops her attempts to get people to listen to her & is just left standing there incredibly upset & trying to figure out what she's confused about by herself!! 😭😭
