would you be willing to list the brushes you use in clip studio? i've tried a few things myself, but would love more recommendations
Yup! Thanks for finally giving me a reason to make that post about the brushes i use! ô w ô
So my brushes aren’t very exciting actually… i mostly use the same 3 brushes but change the setting and blending modes. I think mastering digital art means to forget about the cute flower petal or ribbon lace brushes and learn how to create a lot of different effects with a few very simple brushes. This is gonna make your art wayyy more consistent and personal!
You can find it here: [LINK], all my other brushes should be pre-installed in your verison of Clip! :) the only thing I’ve changed about this brush id the pen pressure setting, just click the little arrow next to the brush side slider and you can edit all kinds of pen input effects, setting the pen pressure to look like this makes the ends of you lines more rounded
I use this brush for pretty much everything, and i also have two copies of the brush, one set to blending mode: lighter color, and one set to darker color. This lets me color shapes without having to worry about the edges :3
You can find this one under pastels, i just changed the name because I’ve changed the settings so now it looks more like a noise air brush :)
I use this one for shading, texture, blush, it’s pretty much replaced my airbrush, inlike how it looks more like an irl air brush splatter. If i want a more sublte look i set it to a tighter gap and lower density :)
Pencil brushes are for more than just sketching! You can use it for coloring too and get some nice texture (note: the texture setting is enabled, just now visble because i never change the texture density)
The spray brush i use for things like stars, freckles, skin texture, glitter, particles/fireflys/snow. Tip: turn spray devination way up and particle density way down!
I use an air brush or a noise brush set to blending mode: glow dodge to make thigs glow or for patches of light :)
Aaand last but not least: “running color on fiber”, this is nice blending brush that will give you some texture. Using a plain smooth blending brush (just like using a plain smooth airbrush) and make you art seem very digital in an ugly way.. so try to find alternatives like this one that gives you some more texture the play around with!
The best advise i can give is to make you own set of brushes! All of these i have altered a lot to look like how i like, and i also have a lot of texture overlays and methods for post processing my drawings. I think if you’re a digital artist you should build a set of tools just like traditional artists have a collection of water colors or microns, you should customise your art program to your liking! Brushes are defintiely an important part of your “art style” so if you’re looking to make your art more consistant, find out what kind of textures (or lack thereof), line widths and line end shapes, level of cleanliness and how perfect you like your lines, etc you like to work with! :)) ♥︎♥︎♥︎
