"Lucky for you I have hands of steel and a lead foot. Let's get you home and get those things, hmm?" he asked with a laugh, a giggle from their son as he tickled the back of Jake's legs.
-- Fast Forward --
He'd placed the plate they'd be sharing on the coffee table, Jake tucked in the chair next to them watching the latest episode of Bluey. Bluey was a staple in their house, there was nothing quite like it if they needed a a moment or two of distraction. Yet his focus was on Ellie who seemed to be more and more uncomfortable as the hours passed. "Of course, you know I'll do it whenever you need. All you have to do is ask." he smiled, eyes focused on her as he spoke. "Here, let me massage your feet." he stated, eyes focus on her as he listened. "Maybe once Jake's in bed we can settle in the tub? That may help your back feel better."
There wasn't much on her mind at the moment other than the discomfort she was in, but then again being towards the end of one's pregnancy was uncomfortable. As the sounds of Jake's favorite TV show filled the air, she winced and nodded at her fiance's suggestion. "Thanks and you know I'll never turn down a massage from you," she gave a weak smile as she placed a hand right under her right ribs to help the pain. "Yeah, hopefully that'll help, this just feels different. If I don't feel better after the bath, maybe I'll give the doc a call?" She asked, a weak smile forming before kicking off her shoes without bending down, something she had gotten good at over the past few months, "you sure you don't mind?"
"I think that sounds like a good idea." he nodded, eyes watching as her hand rested under her ribs. He wasn't one that worried much; he knew his fiancé knew her body more than anyone else and if there was an issue she'd take care of it. Just like he knew that if something were to happen, he'd do whatever he could to keep things calm for her, Jake and the baby on the way. It was just what he did; the comforter when things were tough. With her feet now in his lap, fingers worked diligently to massage them, doing his best to be both gentle and affective. "Whenever you're ready for the bath let me know and I'll go get it ready for you." he stated. "I'll do whatever you need; no questions asked." he winked.
"That and the eyes, and don't even get me started on the smile," reaching up to gently squeeze his chin, shaking it ever so slightly. In fact there was nothing about him that didn't make her swoon, each and every day she thanked her lucky stars for him. Nodding as they walked along, she chuckled and rubbed his back with her free hand. The walking made her tired and she was glad they were almost done with their walk. "I will never say not to a back massage," she playfully groaned, "and I'm looking forward to the Dino nuggets. Baby is hungry." She giggled as they made their way to the car.
-- Fast Forward --
Ellie sat down at the table, her back aching from the walking in addition to her swollen feet and ankles, everything just hurt. Growing, she stretched out her legs a bit, as both dogs came over to see what was wrong. "Thank you babe," she said regarding to Emerson getting dinner ready for everyone and getting her something to drink. "My back has been killing me all evening," she placed a hand on her lower back and stretched bit, "and this kid is digging into my ribs." She chuckled as she rubbed her ribs, clearly uncomfortable with everything.
"Lucky for you I have hands of steel and a lead foot. Let's get you home and get those things, hmm?" he asked with a laugh, a giggle from their son as he tickled the back of Jake's legs.

blushing as he kissed d her cheek she then replied, "I don't know. I think Jake's dad is quite charming. And pretty hot too." She winked back at him before turning the stroller down the path back to their car. "Oh is it now? Will damn if I wasn't already pregnant," he mused, biting her lip as she way he'd his hand on her belly, the baby inside moving a bit at his touch. Her life was even better than she had imagined it as a kid, a wonderful and thoughtful partner in life and an amazing son. And another child on the way, it was just perfect. "Let's see how this one goes and we'll circle back," she reached up to cup his cheek before laughing. "It is a lot of work, and tiring too," she put a hand on her lower back and stretched a bit, her back muscles tight from carrying the weight of her stomach. Humming as Emerson joked about Dino nuggets and ranch, she got hungry all of a sudden, "he does know how to share. So I think you'd be in the clear."
"It's the freckles, isn't it?" Emerson winked, eyes focusing on his fiance' and then looked forward, only laughing when he heard her joke about already being pregnant. He hadn't been lying before when he'd stated that he'd have as many babies as they could manage. But she had a point, first they had to get through this pregnancy and then talk about adding more later if it all went okay. And if it didn't, Emerson wasn't sure he could manage to go through with it again. "Sounds like a plan. You're the boss." he admitted. "Especially when it comes to kids. I'll do whatever you feel is best, whatever you need." he shrugged. And that was the truth. "I know it is. I think someone deserves a back massage tonight." he stated, arm around her shoulder. The mention of Dino nuggets made Emerson's stomach growl, and he exhaled. "Let's head back to the car. I suddenly don't think I can wait another second." he laughed.
~~ FAST FORWARD ~~
"Alright, Dino nuggets and mac and cheese." smiled, placing a plate for himself and Ellie in their spots at the table and added one for Jake, who moved from their bathroom, hands wet from washing. "There you go, bud, extra ranch." he winked at his son. "You have water and lemonade, enjoy." he spoke, placing the same to glasses in front of Ellie as he sat next to her.
"It really is, definitely cherish every moment," he said with a half smile, reminiscing when his own son was small. Seems like just yesterday his son was a toddler and now he was almost a teenager. "He's twelve, still young but not so little anymore. I miss this stage," Wyatt nodded towards the little boy between them. "How old is he?" He asked and he knelt down to pick up the boxes of pizza, his own as well as the others. "That's very true. And not jist pizza but any good food," he smirked before opening his box, "it's a little worse for wear but still edible. Though the cheese did take a hit. How's yours?"
"Twelve?!" Emerson spoke, almost as if he knew the kid personally. "Damn. And here I was thinking three was big." he sighed, looking at his son as he ruffled the child's hair. It truly felt like he'd blinked and his son had gone from a newborn and soon enough he was going to be a father to another little one. It was bittersweet how much his life was changing. "This one's three." he stated as Jake looked up, beaming at the other, clearly proud to be a whole year older. "About to be a big brother so I feel like if I blink too much this one's gonna be graduating high school and his sibling's going to be driving." he exhaled, eyes focused on the other and then at the pizza in his hand. "Upside down, but, you know it's fine." he shrugged. "Nothing we can't handle, honestly."
Noticing the wipes on the table, Tristan gave an appreciative nod and grabbed one, using it to clean the cake from his daughter's face. Dylan let out a giggle as he did it which just made Tristan smile. He then took the water bottle out from a backpack that he'd always carry whenever he was out with his kids, handing it to Dylan so she could have a drink. "Yeah... That's pretty much telling them that they can have more than one," he said, raising his eyebrows when he realized that Aidan was already trying to make his choice on which one of the extra cakes Emerson had that he wanted to take home. "Just one," he reminded his son, which Aidan countered by saying that he was just choosing another one for him, since Emerson said that Tristan could choose one for himself. Tristan let out a smirk and tossed Emerson a look that said 'you should tell him no'. "She'd probably just invite all of us over and have you run after them, Jake included most likely, while we're cooking in the kitchen," he said with a grin, standing back up and just waited for both of his kids to choose which slice of cakes they wanted. "Do you have enough for Jake and Ellie? Actually, does Ellie know you're getting cakes?"
Watching Tristan with his kids was heartwarming to Emerson; he had a soft spot in his heart for family, and Tristan with his children were no exception. "I swear these two have grown more overnight." he exhaled, taking a wipe to wipe of his nephews hands once he had selected his own piece of cake, but stopped when he realized the other had gone to get a second. "You need to let your dad pick his own, bud. You picked yours, Dylan picked hers so it's only right to let Dad pick his." he stated. He hated being the person to say no, but, he'd been why they'd gotten to this point to begin with. He looked up at Tristan once the cake situation had been situated and he laughed at the other's confession. "That actually sounds pretty accurate, we should probably do that anyways. Me chase the kids around while you and Ellie cook." he stated. "She always appreciates the help and I'm not great in the kitchen." he stated, shrugging. His eyes focused on the bag in front of him as Tristan asked if there was enough cake for Jake and Ellie and he nodded. "I told her I was coming home with treats. I didn't specify what and I don't think she realizes that it's as much as it is, but, there's plenty. Enough to eat tonight and also freeze."
He had such a way with words, that she'd melt at them anytime he spoke. That combined with they way he'd look at her? It absolutely made her weak in the knees. Each and every damn time. "This is exactly how we got here," she teased and pointed to her stomach, "with that smile and your words." She playful shook her head and just grinned, taking it all in. As they walked along, she could hear their son giggling on Emerson's shoulders at something random, which of course was the best according to Ellie. "Me too," she nodded, as being one of four kids, she had grown up in a hectic household and loved the chaos of it all, so being able to have a few of her own had always been a dream of hers. "Five more huh? Looks like we have some catching up to do," she chuckled, still pretending Jake was invisible. "Sounds good; I think that'll do the trick," she grinned as Jake did the same, "I think it'll be a dino nuggets kind of night."
Offering his fiance' a smile, Emerson kissed her cheek. "Someone's gotta teach Jakey to be a charmer.. and if he is anything like his father that won't happen so I have to step it up." he winked. Though, his way with words was precisely what brought him here and even more so what brought him to become a lawyer later on in life as well. He'd always been a talker, might as well put it to use right? "Though, you know what they say? That men find their women more attractive when they're girls are pregnant? It's totally real." he laughed. "Not that you're ever unattractive, but, damn I got lucky." he whispered the last part, a wink as hi hand pressed against her stomach, kissing her softly. They'd really begun to build a beautiful life together, and Emerson was happy to be along for the ride. At the mention of having some catching up to do, Emerson laughed, shaking his head. "You know I wouldn't say no. I've always loved the idea of having a good handful of kids." he shrugged. "But you're the one that has to do all the work, so truly you tell me when you're ready to stop." he smiled, looking at her. As Jake giggled, he tightened his grip on his son's ankles, holding onto him. "I actually think dino nuggets sound delicious. Maybe with ranch, Jakey loves dino nuggets with ranch." he smiled, tossing her a wink. "Think he'd be opposed to me having his portion if he's not home in tine?"
Though Sydney felt like a hallow husk of herself most days, she still attempted to show up to the brewery sometimes. She had almost give all daily power over to her manager and assistant manager, but sometimes she showed up to try and immerse herself into the living once more. But even being here was hard, the many repairs and work in the place had been done by Jesse. Standing behind the bar, Sydney was trying to work through the new selections for the seasonal offerings they'd have in a few months. The notepad beside her had some notes, but they were sparse and she wasn't able to get her head into the task at hand. As the little boy ran up to the counter, Sydney looked up and looked past him when he pointed to his father. "Oh!" She gasped, grabbing some towels and coming over to the others at the table. "Are you alright? I can get you a new drink."
Emerson looked up as she approached, shaking his head. "I'm alright." he nodded, realizing that his previous actions were probably confusing. "I'll probably get them another drink, but, no need for you to take care of that." he stated, looking at his son who had eagerly joined his side and began helping her clean up the mess on the floor. "We were just emerged in conversation and I didn't notice little man here was twirling in circles." he exhaled. "Thankfully most of that drink landed on me, thankfully. But, as soon as we're all clean I'll put in my order and whatever they had. Thank you for your help."
Giving the other a soft nod, "thanks and my son would attest to the same. Unfortunately it's a bad habit though." The looking at the little boy, Wyatt felt a pang of nostalgia, as if he was looking at his own kid from years ago. "Cute kid, reminds me of my son," he smiled and put out a hand for a high five from the young boy. "Must be some divine intervention," he laughed and helped pick up the other box, "I'm good, and yeah. Never knew those things could fly like that."
Looking down at his son who eagerly gave the other a high five, Emerson ruffled his hair before returning his attention to the other man. "It's crazy how fast they grow right?" he questioned, eyes focusing on Jake again. "How old's your son?" he asked, hoping that the other wouldn't tell him he was grown now or something; Emerson wasn't sure he was able to picture his little boy that old just yet. "Sometimes habits aren't meant to be broken, though, especially when they involve pizza." he laughed. "Yours okay? If not let me buy you another."
She nodded and hummed, a smile curling on her lips as she felt his own lips against her head. There was nothing quite like seeing the love of your life becoming a father and then one for the second time. The way he interacted with their son was her favorite, their shared laughs and smiles, the way he comforted him after a fall or nightmare. There was no one she'd rather go on this journey with, than Emerson. "I'm excited for it, all over again," she beamed and then laughed, "don't tempt me mister," she tapped him on the chest playfully, smirking at him at the same time. "She totally would, especially with all of our blue eyes," looking at Emerson before her eyes flickered down to their son, her heart bursting with love for them both. Her cheeks blushed at the way he spoke, then she looked over at Jake and beamed. Watching them, she laughed and pretended not to see him up on Emerson's shoulders. "Hmmm I think first we should try to find Jakey," she teased and looked about as she pushed the empty stroller, "maybe eat at home that way maybe he'll wander home and we'll be there for him."
At the mention of their daughter looking good in blue because of their blue eyes, Emerson smiled. "If she looks even a portion of you she's going to be stunning." he winked, kissing her cheek as he heard Jake laugh from the stroller in front of them. If you'd have asked Emerson awhile ago where he thought he'd be at thirty six, he certainly wouldn't have told you here with a fiancé, a son, and another bundle of joy on the way. "I'm just stoked to be bringing another kid into the world." he smiled. "But you know me. If it were up to me we'd have five kids or more." he winked. A large family was something Emerson had always wanted, but, he also could respect it if that wasn't something Ellie wanted. He was content with where his life was now, though, regardless. With Jake on his shoulders, belly laughs at his mom's obvious 'searching for him' which made Emerson laugh along with him. That sound would never get home. "I think that's a great plan." he stated only once he'd regained his composure. "Maybe if we go home we can make his favorite - mac and cheese with dino nuggets - to weasel him back in." he winked as Jake began grinning, talking about how much he wanted that. "You want to order food in or are you feeling dino nuggets too, my love?"
Rushing after work, Wyatt wasn't sure what he was going to do for dinner with him and he was a son. Moving from a big city to a small town, the options weren't as vast as they used to be so he had only a slim number of places to choose from. Finally settling on pizza, he texted Benny to let him know and what kind to get. However he was in the mfst of replying when he bumped into someone, and seeing their own box go flying. "Shit," he mumbled then saw the little boy, "Oh sorry," he winced hoping the adult wouldn't chew him out for cursing in front of the kid. "Looks like the pizza gods didn't want either of us getting a pie tonight."
Shaking his head Emerson shrugged. "It's alright man, he's heard worse from me." He admitted, taking a look at his son who had stood up, waiting for his turn to apologize for stopping in the middle of the walk way. "Thank you, Jake but you're okay bud." Emerson smiled down at his son, moving to pick up both pizza boxes. "I guess not." he laughed. "Who knew we could send both pizzas like that though. You alright?"
He just rolled his eyes at Emerson's words before leaving his kids with Emerson to pay for the bread. Aidan and Dylan would be fine with his uncle for a short while. Aidan agreed with Emerson's terms which was how Tristan found his kids, sharing a slice of chocolate cake. Which wouldn't be too bad if Dylan didn't somehow manage to have chocolate all over her face. "How did you manage to get cake on your nose?" he asked his daughter with a chuckle. Dylan just gave him a grin and pointed a finger towards Emerson. "Uncle Emerson put the cake on your nose?" he asked, amused. The girl nodded vigorously. "Uncle Emerson said we can have this cake then we can have more," he heard Aidan and turned his attention towards him and saw the boy grinning ear-to-ear. Tristan couldn't help laughing. "Uncle Emerson said that, huh?" he said to Emerson. "Is this the only slice or did they manage to finish one or more before this? I'm just asking because I'd like to be prepared for how hyper they possibly might be later."
The interaction between the children and heir father made Emerson's heart swell; if there was anything the man enjoyed more than his own son, it was getting to experience it with his family. With eyes focused on them as they devoured the cake - he'd literally never seen kids eat something so fast in his life - he shook his head, grabbing the pack of wipes he'd started carrying in his backpack and placed them on the table. Hopefully everyone would be thankful he at least came prepared. At the confession of his nephew, Emerson threw up his hands, shaking his head. "I said no such thing." he admitted, looking between the two and then looking back at Tristan. "I did tell them that if you said no that they could take a piece home to share, but Miss Dylan here convinced me you wouldn't mind." he stated, sending his soon-to-be brother in law a small smile. "Sorry man." he exhaled. "This is the only piece they've gotten. I told them they had to share. I know how Jake gets whenever he's had a bite of cake so, I wasn't about to turn them into hyper children." he laughed. "Feel free to take a slice for yourself though. I think your sister would force me to come stay with them and send you to our house if I didn't offer you one after hyping them up."
The Garden had been a place that Emerson and Ellie shared plenty of things with. It had been the meet up place for their first date, the dinner they'd enjoyed before their engagement, and the last meal they shared as a family of two before their son was born. And now that it was a place that they enjoyed often, he had ordered in her favorite and had taken Jake to pick it up. He had walked up to the take out counter, currently not paying attention to the fact that his son had wondered off to a window, people watching. Nor did he notice that the boy was now twirling in circles, and knocked into someone, causing them to spill their drink as he did. He turned, looking at his son and the blonde that he'd run into. "I'm so sorry." he apologized, taking a step towards Jake. "You have to stay with me, bud, please go ask that lady at the counter for napkins." he watched as Jake did. Emerson wanted to make sure his son understood helping when he made a mistake, even if it was just getting napkins. @sydneyxheywood
"I think it'd be exciting to know," glancing up at the love of her life, "we can pick out names and start setting up the nursery." She was confident that they would be ex ited either way, knowing or not knowing as well as if they were having a boy or girl. Humming fir a second she laughed, "exactly. Never too early to start to prepare too. Plus we can only use so much of his stuff on a girl," not that a newborn knew the difference or cared, but after a while she'd want to start dressing up a little girl in pink and bows and the like. Closing her eyes at his touch, a smile formed on her features, "you're pretty great yourself there," in fact she thought he was the best and the best part of her. "I'd say we're both very lucky, and we got lucky with Jake too." @emersonreinhart
"I think so too." he nodded, bringing his lips to the side of her head and giving it a soft kiss. Sharing this journey with Ellie was one of Emerson's favorite things, and he couldn't wait to witness Jake become a big brother. The mention of decorating the nursery and buying clothes made him smile. "I know I'm going to be." he smiled. "I wouldn't mind a daughter, but, you're such a good boy dad I want another." he smiled, kissing her softly. "I guess that's just an excuse to plan for baby number three." he winked. The mention of Jake's clothes only being somewhat possible for a girl made him laugh. "Come on, you don't think our daughter would look stunning in blue?" he smiled. "It is my favorite color on you." he admitted, eyes focusing on her for a moment before Jake spoke, and Emerson moved to the front of the stroller, smiling when Jake asked to be held. "Don't tell mom." he winked at Ellie, lifting Jake onto his shoulders, a game the three of them played where Jake liked to play invisible and pretend his mom couldn't see him. "While we're walking, did you want to get dinner out tonight or did you want to eat at home?" @elizabethxmonroe
"Oh, shit." Emerson cursed, dodging from nearly running into someone, his pizza box clutched close to his chest as he tried to make his way through the crowd of people that had already seemed to form in the building. Friday night pizza wasn't an abnormal thing in the Reinhart house, and while there was always a cheese pizza involved, Emerson had specifically gotten a pizza to cure Ellie's cravings. And while he would've likely gotten a Hawaiian pizza himself, he'd been more than content with whatever she'd ordered for herself. One hand clutched his son's hand as he made his way through the crowd, and stopped abruptly when Jake had paused to fix his Velcro on his shoe. "Come on bud." he stated, taking a step forward before he looked, bumping into someone and sending his pizza box flying. So much for enjoying pizza tonight. @wyattxfoster

"Did you ever think that we'd end up here?" Emerson watched as Jake ran around the park, playing eagerly with his cousin's Sawyer and Archer. Emerson and Elliot had only met because Emerson was dating Elliot's sister, but, something about the other - having Ellie's family in his life - was comforting. Not to mention Jake would always have cousins to play with and that was a bonus in Emerson's book. His attention returned to Elliot as he spoke, allowing himself to exhale as his head nudged towards the kids. "They're all cute playing together huh?" @elliot-monroe
Sharing this moment with the love of her life, was something she had always dreamed about as a kid. "Soon, though it they're anything like Jake, I better get used to them now," her hand on her belly, rubbing it ever so slightly. She was glad to have felt the first sort of flutter of movement with Emerson right there, as she had with Jake too. Being able to share these little moments made her fall in love with the man beside her everytime. "We definitely can, I wasn't sure if you had wanted to or not," she stopped and looked up at her fiance, "I'm honestly could either way." Meeting his bright blue eyes, surrounded by those freckles she loved, her heart swooned, "good because I'll never grow tired of it, and one day I'll be Mrs. Rhitt," which she just loved the sound of and couldn't wait for that day. Everything about her life as an adult had been like a fairytale, especially since meeting Emerson. "You make it easy to be charming," she gave him a wink back before looking at Jake too. "He really is, we got lucky."
Emerson hadn't expected to fall in love as quickly or as deeply as he had, yet with a three year old and another baby on the way it had been nearly impossible not to give his heart away a long time ago. Ellie meant more to him than he could ever truly express; the life they'd built together was just another added perk. "If you want to find out the gender, I'll do my best to be there." he admitted, knowing that he would always do anything he could to be there for all the big things, milestones and appointments. "But if you want to be surprised, I'll be there for that too." he shrugged. "Could be fun, though, if we need to buy girl clothes I kind of feel like we'd need to know that since Jake doesn't wear pink." he laughed. Arms snaked around her tightly from behind, hands resting against her belly as he kissed the side of her head. "You're the best you know that?" he exhaled, taking in the moment. "We're pretty lucky. It's not every day you get to share a life with the person you love who's also your best friend." @elizabethxmonroe
