Chaotic bookstores are the most beautiful ✨
crazy how so many of your experiences as a girl are shaped based on whether you are perceived as attractive or not
This hit me most when the school my Mum worked at was closing down. She was worried about finding a new job and one of her co-workers told her not to worry, women who looked like her didn't stay unemployed for long. She came home and told me about it because before that she'd never thought about how her life would have been if she had a different face. And in the end no, she wasn't without a job for long at all.
Everybody has different experiences but in mine I see unattractive men aplenty in manager positions, or at the very least "decent" jobs. Fewer women altogether in those positions, and the ones who are? Always attractive. (Perhaps on occasion slightly less attractive but a direct relation of a colleague with some sway).
The fact that the maletypes in the notes are exclusively saying either some variation of "it goes both ways attractive women won't sleep with me", or "you're all beautiful it's your personality that counts" is very telling. Let women talk about their experiences without trying to make it about you, you're making fools of yourselves when you miss the point that hard but still try to chime in.
libraries are nice ♡.
Starting November off with a shorter read 📚📖 https://www.instagram.com/p/BppKK0yH138/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=70a022cqp73a
When you want to take spoopy book photos and remember you’re a wuss who neglects the horror genre… 🕸🎃📚 https://www.instagram.com/p/Bpmn7OGHJoj/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1g9oymzmrp72e
Why is it that the TV on is default in the break room? If I am alone in the room, I turn it off. If there are people and I note that no one is watching it, I ask if I can turn it off.
No one EVER asks me if they can turn it on if I am sitting quietly with my book and the TV off.
Its incredibly rude and I’m really annoyed about this nonsense.
I feel your pain, in our staffroom it's the radio. I could be reading alone in there for a good 20mins but somebody will still come in demanding to know why the music isn't on.
Apparently it is very important to them to hear a snippet of song in the moments it takes them to grab their cigarettes from their coats and leave again.
More quiet time as the default!

I have four pretty new bookshelves and the best boyfriend ever who bought and built them for me! Soon all my babies will be out of their storage boxes and I'm sooo happy!
Nooooo I went from being practically a dozen books ahead on my Goodreads reading challenge at the beginning of the year to being two behind :(
I have this problem this year - at one point I was so close to completing my challenge that I upped my reading goal and everything! Ah well, it's the fun of reading that counts. Maybe you could try some short stories if you really want to catch up though?
BOOKS ARE MAGIC
