Emilia often times growing up felt bad for the title that she had been born in to. She’d watched countless movies and television shows, all depicting what American women dreamed of; to suddenly find out one day that they were a princess. Despite Emilia only being a Duchess, she never quite understood what everyone was so interested in. After all, the job itself was nothing more than an act. Smile at a camera here, be caught laughing at an unfunny joke there, and of course the most popular, which was dance with every eligible bacherlor at every ball that Emilia attended. As odd as it sounded, the royal life was something that Emilia never seemed interested in. Of course she faked the enthusiasm for her family, but the people who really knew her could see straight through Emilia’s facade.
Strangely enough, while her family cursed the tabloid’s the wrote up false stories about their family, Emilia found herself silent praising them. Not for the lies that they often times spread, but for their interesting take on journalism. It was no secret that from time time Emilia was a small girl, she often found her escape from the extremely stressful life of being royal in writing in one of her marble notebooks. Pages and pages of short stories and poems filled each and every line of each and every notebook. It took Emilia nearly seventeen years before she finally confessed to her father how much she craved to be writer. Despite his initial denial, eventually with the help of her brother Henry, Emilia convinced her fathe to allow her to attend a semester abroad in New York. It had been the happiest of moment of Emilia’s young life.
NYU had been the ultimate dream for Emilia and by the time she graduated, magazines and newpapers were lining up at the door to offer her full time positions as their staff writer. Unfortunately, when Emilia had been informed about the death of the King, she took the first flight home in order to be with her family. With everything that’s been happening since the King’s death, Emilia has been finding it harder and harder to return back to her simple life in the state’s. After all, what kind of person just abandons their family in a time of such need? Emilia has vowed that until the current state of affairs within her family and country have been worked out, she will remain home with her family. Even though her heart aches for her life back home in New York, it’s nothing compared to love Emilia has for her family and their safety.

For Emilia that’s exactly what she has with Katerina. She’s everything Emilia aspires to be, why wouldn’t she cozy up to the one person who understands her?
Lucas Van Allan | Acquaintance: She met him a few times at social gatherings before all of the Cerberus drama began. He’s well versed in the political views and with his help, Emilia is seeing a future that isn’t so dreary. Maybe he isn’t all that bad after all.
Charles Astor | Friend: He was always nice to her growing up (as nice as boys can be). Of course she stayed in touch with him over the years even as she started to drift further from her family. She may’ve had a crush on him when she was little, but really, could he ever be more than her brother’s friend who got gum stuck in her hair? She has to admit though, it is nice to see a friendly face through everything.
