Charlotte Lennox | 42 | Lennox | Duchess
“Heat not a furnace for your foe so hot that it do singe yourself.” - William Shakespeare
“Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. The late king made no secret for his attraction to the current Duchess of Castellon, which explains her cold and standoffish nature following his death. Does it matter that she married someone he hated, seemingly in retaliation for him not leaving Queen Adrienne to be with her? Bitterness isn’t a good look on most people, but somehow, Charlotte Lennox seems to be able to pull it off. Let’s just see how long she lasts with Alexandra on the throne.”
“Does our Duchess of Castellon have a wandering eye? Granted that her husband does not seem to love her as the deceased king did, you’d expect her to at least pretend to have eyes for him and him alone. She seems to have developed an attraction towards Illyria’s very own crown prince, Prince Henry. You’d expect a lady to have learned by now that tangling with a married man is bad news, but sometimes you don’t. At least we must admire her ambition.”
RELATIONSHIP STATUS: Married
OFFICIALLY ADDRESSED AS: Her Grace, My Lady, Duchess of Castellon
Little Lottie did a good job of making herself in the spotlight at an early age. Born to a coal mine worker and a seamstress, Charlotte dreamed of a life bigger than what she had. She read stories like Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast that told her ordinary girls could be special too. Taking that to heart, she fought to be put in a better school and educate herself as best as she could so that when her prince came, she’d be ready. Charlotte’s love of fashion and beauty grew from the fact that it was what she saw rich women doing. If she wanted to be rich, she had to act like she was one of the rich people.
It didn’t take long for Charlotte to worm her way into society. An attractive young woman who was as shrewd and cunning as she was, and had nothing really left to lose, made an excellent pawn the games of the royals. What they did not expect was that Charlotte not only could play the game, but she had one of her own that superseded all of theirs by the time they were finished. King Richard had taken a fancy to her, and she did her best to pretend to hide the fact he was her lover from his wife, children, and press. She leaked just enough to keep herself safe, but still a headliner nonetheless.
Adrienne got her husband back, and Charlotte let him go. She was now coveted by Andrew Lennox, a war profiteer who knew how to steal and swindle better than she did. After the king’s death, she married Andrew and showed him how to buy a title for the both of them. It was then that she met her match, knowing full well that Andrew was perhaps just as cunning as she was, and willing to get the fame and glory they both craved.
With Richard’s daughter on the throne, however, Charlotte’s plans changed. She couldn’t manipulate her like she could Edward. There was very little leverage she had, and Queen Alexandra was hellbent on fixing the Cerberus issue. Unfortunately, Cerberus was keeping both Andrew and Charlotte very, very wealthy. Without wealth, they were nothing. The title was just a sham, and most people did not respect it. But money, everyone respected money. Charlotte had to take matters in her own hands. She’d wrecked the royal house once before, so it would only be easier the second time.
+ creative, passionate, tough, courageous, decisive
- deceitful, cunning, flirtatious, finnicky, materialistic
Andrew Lennox | Husband: Her husband was a business partner, her reason for being wealthy and famous at this point. No longer did she have to sneak off with other royals, but now she was part of the aristocracy herself. She will do anything to keep him happy and content with their marraige
Alexandra Winters | Contempt for: Alexandra is a thorn in her side. She wants her off the throne for sure, but there isn’t a suitable replacement to be had. Alexandra’s reluctance to her manipulation only makes her need to destroy the queen worse.
Henry Westmore | Enamored with: Henry was a pawn that Charlotte fully intended to exploit. She banked on the fact that him being a man would tear him out of his wife’s arms. If the papers were correct in assuming their marriage was icy, it only made her smile that she could wreck the royal house so easily.
