“Found anyone worth shackling Derek to yet?” Emilio teased as the strolled passed the noble’s stables. His own kids had threatened bodily harm if he’d even attempted something of the sort. While he knew they were simply joking, he understood their plight well enough. Besides, it was less work on his part.

Pandora hurriedly tied her hair up into a ponytail as she walked down the street to Emilio’s house. She was lucky to have found somebody that would willingly train her. She assumed he understood her situation and reasoning, being a simple human who wanted to do nothing more than protect her family. She wasn’t in a hurry, she had enough time to spare and was able to grab a bottle of water and something to eat so she’s not training on an empty stomach. But Pandora was eager to start after having an argument with her father about how role in her family. 

The scarlet-haired girl stepped up to Emilio’s door, a shaky breath falling past her lips, hand shaking as she knocked on the door. She cleared her throat as the door opened, a small smile pulling on her face. “Hi Mr. Furtado! I’m here and ready for the training. What’s first?”

The Purifier couldn’t help but chuckle at the young woman’s enthusiasm. “Well firstly, you can stop calling me Mr. Furtado. I don’t need to be reminded that I’m older enough to be your father. My name is Milho,” the man relied, stepping aside to let her into the house. He’d bought it years ago to train the twins in a safe environment. It was retrofitted to be a gym. Weaponry lined the wall of the main room and the floor was padded just enough to help prevent injury.

“Let me have a look at that, save you from having to see a healer later,” Bea commented gesturing to the cut that was on Emilio’s forehead. The two had fallen into a familiar pattern, always preferring to go over the details of a hunt right after they’d arrived back. It was good to go over what had happened and the information gathered whilst everything was still fresh in their minds. Opening up her satchel she brought out a cloth and wet it with some water from her flask. Felix always made Bea was well stocked up with medical items before she went on a hunt, especially if she was going on one without him. “It doesn’t look bad.” @emiliofurtado

“It may not look bad but it feels bloody terrible,” he grumbled, wincing slightly at the sound of his own voice. Milho had a splitting headache and several contusions on his face. The witch they’d been after had thrown an entire tree branch at him and he'd barely ducked in time to no get his head knocked off.

Rolling her eyes, Joanna made herself a touch more comfortable. “I’m hardly the espionage type, Milho. If she wants to know anything about you, she can ask you herself. She’s a big girl. And I’m Switzerland.” Far be it for Joanna to get in the middle of another couple’s relationship, or lack thereof in this case. “I’m genuinely interested in your life and well-being. Tell me you’ve done something other than go to work and go home.”

“You’re right in the fact that you’d make a terrible spy but extremely wrong when it come’s to Maggie’s ability to ask me anything. She lost that privilege when she was caught fucking someone else on my kitchen counter,” he replied gruffly. The man poured them both a finger of scotch before returning to his desk. “I’m fine, Jo. And what exactly am I supposed to do other than come to work and go home?”

A smile curled her lips, looking with fondness at the man who had come into her life and had helped make her feel like she belonged. “You know I don’t let anyone tell me what to do, uncle Emilio.” She smiled, hands gliding over the skirt of her dress. The fabric felt odd against her skin, and the white looked out of place against her marked skin, the scars on her arms and shoulder more than visible to the skilled eye. “Thank you so much for coming.” 

“Ahh, right. Of course, how silly of me to suggest otherwise,” he grinned, shaking his head in amusement. She’d grown into such a beautifully fierce young woman. He knew her parents were extremely proud. He was proud. “As if there was anywhere else I would be, pequeno guerreiro.”

“Of course I brought a date. Did you really think I wouldn’t?” There was laughter on his lips. “Her name is Gwen. We’ve been seeing each other for a while. I think she went to go get us drinks.” 

“With you I never know, my boy. Most people aren’t worth your time,” he chuckled, giving the younger man a light. “So, how’d you meet? She must be something special if you’re bringing her to your sister’s wedding.”

“Ever the attentive father, aren’t you? I suppose you’ll have to suffer through the noise and smells–– I think I saw your daughter at a stall. They improve weapons with enchantments.” White magic, of course, she knew Emilio’s family wouldn’t go near the stalls that practice other forms of magic. 

“Until the day they put me in the ground,” Milho replied, tilting his head to crack the muscles in his neck. Sleeping on a bench definitely wasn’t the best of ideas at his age. “Please, I’ve dealt with worst smells coming out of those two’s asses than anything in here,” he chuckled, standing from his seat. He shook his head, already knowing the reason why they were here. “They’re on the outs with their mother again. I’d say they got all their stubbornness from her but I’d be lying.”

“The best way to get back in shape is to come visit me more often, meu tio,” she responded with a bright grin before undoing her own laces. “It’s been a year or so since we’ve spent time together, right? It’d be a shame if I didn’t get better.”

“It hasn’t been that long, has it?” Emilio frowned, trying to thinking back to the last time he saw her. A couple months at the most. “Regardless, it’s great to see you even if you’re putting me on my ass. And I’m sorry I haven’t been around...It’s been a trying year,” the man said, giving her a weak smile.

“Are you telling me that you didn’t bring a date to your sister’s wedding? That’s blasphemous, meu garoto,” Emilio shook his head, teasing as her unbuttoning his vest. “Unless, you’re looking to find someone here. Then please don’t let me stand in your way.” @jonahrhodes

“The college kids always ask for those IPAs.” Though technically from the UK. Or at least that’s what she’d heard when she tuned into the bar chatter. Normally she was too distracted by trying to pick out a meal to really care. “Enough about all that.” After taking a sip from her drink, Gwen gave a slight dismissive wave of her hand. She wanted a game, some kind of stimulation after her workday. Straightening a little, one elbow on the bar, her brows furrowed as she assessed him. “I also feel like you’re well traveled. Maybe it is the cuff links.” She could see it, her lips curved into a slight sly smile at the thought. Yes, well traveled. Some kind of business man too tired to go out with coworkers after a day at the office.

Emilio raised an eyebrow at her assumption, letting out a small laugh of amusement. “Oh, is it the cuffs that gave it away?” He teased, shaking his head. He knew his accent was watered down from his time in the States, something he hated but couldn’t really do anything about. “Alright, give me the whole mock up, darling. Age, occupation, the works...and I’ll tell you if you’re right.”

“I wasn’t trying to hide it,” CJ replied back, smirking at his expression, “isn’t that what beds are for? At home?” Napping in The Frey seemed like a waste of energy– a losing battle really. “Or are the benches here that much more comfortable?” 

“I was coerced along by my children,” he muttered, moving to sit up a bit. “I am wholeheartedly regretting agree to come because my bed is far more comfortable and doesn’t involve as many smells.”
