Captain Swan AU - It Was Destiny (thief!Killian / Princess!Emma)

It was supposed to be an easy job, all he had to do was get inside the castle while everyone was busy with the ball, and steal as much gold as he could. However, things rarely ever go according to plan, and this was no exception. 

His plan was disrupted by the very princess whose birthday was celebrated that day, the one he had heard so many stories about, stories that made him admire her from afar. Their conversation was cut short by a portal that took the princess to an unknown destination. Of course, the guards arrived instantly, and having found him at the scene they arrested him. 

He managed to convince the king and queen that he was not involved in the disappearance of their daughter, and that he would gladly prove that by helping them find her. What he should have known was that princess Emma could take care of herself, for he found her already out of her cell and on her way to freedom. Together they traveled back home and used that time to get to know each other better. Killian was pardoned for his crimes and was given a fresh start,  which he used to win the heart of a certain lass that has caught his eye, and made his heart beat faster. 

Things may have not gone according to plan, but if you ask him, they turned out better than he could have ever imagined.
