For my target audience, I thought it’d be best to do a timeline of a day in the life of my potential client(s).
From what I’d found of my ‘day in the life’ was that transport, social media, phones and travelling were common and frequent elements to their day. I feel as though it’s essential for me to factor these elements into my brief to best establish where I should place drink driving ads. The time spent in the pub is also essential for drink driving adverts as that’s where alcohol is mainly available therefore an appropriate field for advertising.
Occupation: Graphic Design Student
Lifestyle: Enjoys hanging out with friends, commutes to uni regularly, plays video games in spare time, goes on regular jogs, likes driving but avoids traffic time, enjoys listening to music.
How could I best attract his attention in day to day life?
Jimmy likes driving but avoids traffic therefore large billboards would be most appropriate in that situation.
Jimmy also likes music therefore probably uses spotify or youtube to listen to music. Being a student, he might not have the money therefore might not have subscriptions in order to use the free versions, adverts will surround these music apps. This could also be a useful platform for drink driving ads. However with spotify, the ads are more to do with audio and I feel as though visual adverts would be more effective in sending out a message.
He goes jogging and commutes to uni, therefore will be looking on the ground, near roads, buildings, etc. pavement ads, billboards, wall ads, etc. would be suitable for this environment and situation.
The fact that Jimmy plays video games means he might be used to seeing gory images and situations so might be able to connect to an ad that has similar context.
Another element to factor into my design work, is that Jimmy hangs out with his friends. So similarly to my ‘Day in the life’, he might hang out in clubs, bar or pubs. Therefore adverts surrounding environments serving alcohol would be effective for the audience.
