Right: Time to get back on the blog

I've been quite busy lately but I'm slowly learning to juggle. So here's the start of a consciencious effort to keep up with my blog. Last week a worked on some illustrations based on some pretty cool character descriptions. Here's what I've got:

This is the Seraphim, a higher rank of Angel as featured in Dan Bean's book The Angelic Debt which you can find out more about here. Dan's a reporter from Leeds and I've just been reading a review of the book here and a lovely blog post about him receiving my work. Thank you to Dan, I'm hoping to do some more soon!

So this is a joke that got drawn. Sometimes you have to just get it drawn! It's a amalgamation of UK political scandals that were somewhat humours, despite having seriousness behind them. In the Uk at the minute we're experiencing some strange but sometimes horrific and mostly economically stupid bills, rules and legislations in the name of austerity. And while that's going on we learn we're eating horses instead of cows.

Blue Note Launch Event 23/06/13

Well after having a bit of a break I best blog about an event I helped organise last month and album artwork I illustrated and designed. Firstly check this out:

It's always better to have a tune playing in the background while you read. Or maybe that's just me. I'm showing you this track because if you like it you can buy the album for £3 online or £5 for a physical copy (hand-crafted I might add) and the whole lot goes to charity, specifically Orb Enterprise. https://www.facebook.com/orbcommunityarts Orb works with vulnerable people in Yorkshire providing a supportive creative and education space which works to build confidence and develope skills. Their facebook page will give you a better idea of what they do then I can though! The Album Blue Note are a Leeds based band who had a band fund that would go to waste now the band have gone their separate ways. As a result they decided to put the money into making one last album and to donate all their profits to Orb. Working on a budget of, well not much at all, the band borrowed equipment and recorded the album in their living room and Orb's studio. I then printed the wallets onto some watercolour paper and cut and glued them in the nights leading up to the launch gig. Then shattered as we were we pressed on, making brownies, getting together an art raffle and buying food for the BBQ (because everyone loves a BBQ). The day had a total of 8 bands playing throughout the day. The mix of blues & bluegrass, soul and funk and sci-fi punk was a good choice for a Sunday afternoon.
