“—tell me, persephone, what is it like to have a crown in one hand and divinity in the other?”
remus eyes wandered around the room as he left her some time to make the changes. the only sound audible was that of emm’s quill scratching the parchment. ‘ see? ’ he finally commended, a smile on his lips. ‘ this solved many problems. looks better now. ’ his words were followed by a thumbs up.
em glanced up, a bashful smile on her lips. “you managed to do that, in about five seconds.” she brushed a swathe of strawberry blonde hair over her shoulder. “merlin, i’ve been sitting here for an hour and i missed it.”
Regulus peeled his eyes open, pupils blown wide across the dark grey-blue. “You know we can’t keep doing this.” He regretted the words almost before they finished leaving his lips, the thumb still resting on Emmeline’s cheekbone taking away most of their conviction.
“Merlin, you pick your moments don’t you.” Em raised her palms to his chest and pushed him gently away, using a drying charm on her front. “I don’t have time to think about this, look, we like sex, yeah?” She tilted her head questioningly. “It’s that simple, just, let me know if you want to let it be simple. Okay?”
REGULUS & EMMELINE ➝ MOODBOARD ( @emmelincs )
RED OAK, PHEONIX FEATHER, 12 ½ INCHES, REASONABLY SUPPLE
Red Oak — You will often hear the ignorant say that red oak is an infallible sign of its owner’s hot temper. In fact, the true match for a red oak wand is possessed of unusually fast reactions, making it a perfect duelling wand. Less common than English oak, I have found that its ideal master is light of touch, quick-witted and adaptable, often the creator of distinctive, trademark spells, and a good man or woman to have beside one in a fight. Red oak wands are, in my opinion, among the most handsome.
Phoenix Tail Feather — Symbolizes Resurrection and Renewal. Those who are very kind, brave, courageous, noble, wise, willing, self-sacrificing, bright, strong-willed, out-going, friendly and/or loyal would have this wand core. Having such a wand core suggests that your loyalty and courageous nature is much admired amongst your friends. This is the best core to have for Evil Repealing spells and DADA (Defense Against The Dark Arts). It is a wand core predominantly found among those of House Gryffindor, but can also bond well with those of House Ravenclaw or of House Hufflepuff. Their main strength lies in Defense Against the Dark Arts, although their adaptability can wrench them to Hexes and Jinxes if need be. As with the Dragon Heartstring core, Phoenix Tail Feather cores are common amongst Light Wizards and Light Witches, but their users are not necessarily always Light Wizards and Light Witches.
EXPECTO PATRONUM — DOLPHIN
“There is an adventurous and carefree nature to the dolphin, one that is reflected in those with it as their patronus. They are incredibly unique individuals, and quite often social and loved by most. They are strong and like to explore new things and meet new people. Despite their need to be themselves and individuality, they can at times become incredibly dependent on others, asking them for help in every aspect of their life. They can sometimes forget how to function on their own and start to feel down or like a different person when they are not surrounded by others, which can make them seem needy. The most common house for a dolphin patronus is Gryffindor.” ( x )
“I’m in, as long as the auras good and the men are fit, I don’t quite care where we are.” She chuckled
“amen!” emmelinecrowed in agreement. “i know it’s only october but i already can’t wait.”
cecilia raised an eyebrow, not saying anything, but glancing down at the ruined papers. she quickly pulled her own parchment away from the mess, and then began to separate the other girl’s work, so that it didn’t begin to stick together. “what subject are you doing?” she asked, quietly, as she tried to assess the damage, even though she had not been invited to do so.
em hurriedly tried to stop the flow of ink onto her side of the table, a flush burning at her cheeks. “arithmancy.” she mumbled as the girl picked gently through her work.
‘ you don’t owe me anything, vance.’ remus commended, stacking the unneeded books on the right to clear some space. his eyes scanned emmeline’s book. ‘ mhm, i can’t say these look easy, if that makes you feel any better. ’ remus noted, raising both eyebrows. ‘ but i think if you change up a little this part, right here- ’ he pointed on the parchment. ‘ the meaning of the passage will become clearer. ’
“you can say that all you want, i owe you a favour.” em murmured as she leant in to watch calm eyes scan the page before him. “slightly.” she mumbled sheepishly, twisting her fingers together in her lap. taking a deep breath she let it out with a steadying sigh, “okay.” she grabbed her quill and took another sheaf of parchment from her bag, carefully combing the passage and attempting his suggestion.
Regulus shifted his grip to her hips, dragging her down the length of the wall until they found the divot of an alcove, not breaking their kiss once. His thigh slid between hers and he bit at her lower lip hard enough to bruise.
Em let herself be guided away from the main doors, only slightly aware that her shirt was sticking to her skin where Regulus’ wet clothes pressed against her. Not to be outdone she raked her nails harshly down the back of his neck, gasping as their lips parted for a second.
“I don’t know I was planning on just partying in muggle london, stay with people I met over summer, I’m not exactly welcomed to the holiday parties my family goes to for obvious reasons, but i’m doing Christmas day with them but new years could be a blast, us in Romania with dragons? I think I know someone we could stay with.”
“Yeah? Sound good? The dragons won’t know what hit them and I think we could spend the actual New Year in Bucharest if we feel like it.”
adelina laughed, pointing to her own nose. “you have a bit of ink on your nose.” she wasn’t laughing to be mean, but it was more to lighten the mood. she sat down across from emmeline. “no worries, what were you working on?”
it was a soft laugh, a kind laugh but em’s cheeks still burned as she scrubbed at the tip of her nose with the palm of her hand. “iwas attempting some arithmancy equations but...” she mumbled, carefully taking out a new sheaf of parchment as the girl slipped gracefully into the seat opposite. “you saw how that was going.”
“Don’t joke with me, I already have a bag packed and I’m ready when you are?”
“What are you doing for New Year? Were you going to stay at the castle? We could go, y’know, I’ve got some galleons saved up.”
21 & 23
21. What are your character’s manners like? What is their type of hero? Whom do they hate?
Em... knows what manners are, she always tries to be polite but she has the tendency to forget a little bit. Especially if she’s joking with her mates at the Gryffindor table, you might end up seeing her spray pumpkin juice out of her nose, so she’s not exactly winning any awards. Her type of hero is someone who can be honest and manage their fears and doubts without pretending they don’t exist. Someone who can protect their friends no matter what. Emmeline doesn’t really hate many people unless they’ve directly done something to her, she thinks that Regulus Black is a complete prick if that’s any consolation.
23. What do they want from a partner? What do they think and feel of sex?
Emmeline would just like someone who has her back and can make her laugh if they were entering into a relationship but she has a very healthy view of sex and as long as people aren’t hurting anyone and making sure they’re safe they should do what they damn well please. She knows that these random encounters with Reg are probably a terrible idea in the long run but she uses it to take her mind off the war and just be a regular teenager, she enjoys it and she lets herself be selfish every now and then.
“Gives new meaning to the term chasing the dragon, ey?” She laughed at her own joke relaxing as she smiled at the girl. “But Dragons.. can I come?”
“Of course you’re invited!” She dragged a hand back through ginger curls excitedly. “That’s it, we’re running off to Romania. Pack your things.”
adelina couldn’t help but to hear the girl’s struggles, especially when the ink fell over. she walked over to her cautiously, just in case she wasn’t in a mood to talk to anyone. “you alright there?” she asked, though she knew it was a stupid question to ask given the current state of things. “here, let me help.”
em was torn between just giving up and banging her head against the desk or ripping the parchment into bits. she lifted her head self-consciously as the girl approached her, swathes of jet black hair and not a single one out of place. “um.” she laughed nervously, vanishing the ink and still managing to get a smudge of it on the tip of her nose. “i... thank you.”
‘ ah, ancient runes. ’ remus nodded knowingly. the gryffindor got up from his table and moved to hers, quietly enough so that he wouldn’t disturb the rest of the studying students. ‘ alright, is this what you have to work on? ’ he sat beside emmeline, pointing at the current page.
em’s eyes lit up as he stood from his table, he neatly gathered his books and crossed to her. “i so owe you one, thank you.” she whispered, shuffling over so he had a bit more room. “i can’t get the grammar right, everything i try to write ends up as jibberish.”
