To the Dark Lord, I know I will be dead long before you read this but I want you to know that it was I who discovered your secret. I have stolen the real horcrux and intend to destroy it as soon as I can. I face death in the hope that when you meet your match you will be mortal once more.“ -R.A.B
fortescueiism:
“Yes, I know. But I am still not going to kiss you,” Alice stubbornly pressed her lips together to a thin line. Shaking her head as she did. It was not that the Gryffindor hated Regulus…. she simply hated to be forced to something as private as a kiss. “I could trry to hex it instead, though. Who knows, maybe it gets pissed then and will finally give up to bother us.”
@regvlvs
“Yes because I relish the thought in putting my mouth anywhere near almost perfect strangers.” Regulus drummed his fingers against the bone of his forearm. “It’s supposed to be uninterruptable, last year I watched it almost beat to death a Hufflepuff who refused to give in even when they tried to banish it.”
Regulus pinched the bridge of his nose, the migraine throbbing in his temple. It was so very nearly Christmas and he had managed to escape unscathed so far. Until today. The enchanted mistletoe thrashed about above them, refusing to release them no matter how far they tried to wander. “It’s not going to just give up, you know.” He mumbled, turning to the other unfortunate victim.
benjyfens:
— “i wish my parents had named me after a star or something cool – maybe like ursa major…or maybre scorpius, that’s a cool sounding one. but i’m guessing they just opened to a random page in a baby name book and went with benjamin.” he was thinking out loud at this point, but regulus hadn’t appeared to mind the conversation thus far. at least he was still here, wasn’t he? ben returned the gratitude with a lopsided smile of his own. the copper gears of the telescope clicked and whirred as benjy turned the massive telescope toward a different section of space, squinting as he pressed one eye to the cool metal of the scope, trained fingers adjusting the levers and focus knobs. “so what really brings you up here on this chilly night, regulus?” he pried his gaze from the telescope only to observe the dark-haired boy. “you aren’t out prowling around for gryffindors to beat up, are you? should i be worried?” he teased, though the worry was nagging quietly somewhere in the back of his skull.
“see, that right there is why i wish they bloody hadn’t. too much pressure to actually be cool when someone hears that your name is that pretentious. benjamin’s nice, i could live with that. I definitely don’t look like a regulus.” he pawed at his tired eyes, angry blue-black smudges beneath them betrayed just how tired he actually was. regulus had hardly slept at all since the previous christmas. his eyes drifted to the sky as the gryffindor busied himself with the contraption that magnified the lights a thousand times over, the wind came and went but when a particularly strong gust swung by it felt like it tore right through him. freezing, refreshing, familiar. “yes, that’s definitely my prerogative.” regulus huffed, caught off guard by the question, his face screwed up slightly in confusion. did he seem like he was a threat? standing there in his gloves and scarf with his back to him. “wait at gryffindor tower on the hopes that one of you will be terribly cliche and sneak out, follow you wherever you’re going, strike up a conversation to lull you into a false sense of security and then punch you on the mouth when you’re least expecting it.” he counted them off on his fingers, sarcasm dripping from the words.
olprewett:
“Well, I believe you’re wrong. I was just told I was an EMBARRASSMENT to all Purebloods but I do believe that’s pure trash-talk, you see?” Whenever Fabian was upset, he would hide in Hagrid’s cabin or worse, near the Forbidden Forest. Something about being so close to the nature and natural things relaxed the boy. He just kept talking as he reached for a highest branch, awaiting with a soft smile on his features, even without knowing who was behind him, sort in an innocent way “Muggleborn, Half-blood, Blood Traitor or Pureblood, we ALL deserve to be ALIVE, don’t you think?” his smile widened as the small creatures jumped to his hands, carefree “Even if you’re just a TINY INNOCENT creature, you deserve to be ALIVE… right?”
Regulus raised both of his eyebrows as the man seemed to repeatedly mutter to himself, he felt his fingers itch for his wand. “You seem to have that Pureblood NUTTINESS down pat, so you’re already half-way there.” He felt himself speak before he could help it, certain he should have just walked away. Cold, blue-grey eyes fixed on where the man seemed to be looking and he could make out slight movement against the branch. “That’s a bit subjective if you ask me. None of us ‘deserve’ anything. Nobody exists on purpose, nobody belongs anywhere and we’re all going to die.”
rabastcn:
Rabastan laughed and shook his head. “You’re a fucking dork Regulus, did you know that?” he asked, before patting the ground next to him, signaling for the other boy to sit down. “What brings you to this hallway today? Anything on your mind?”
“That may have been mentioned a few times in the past, yes.” The vivid memories of Sirius’ elbow digging into the thin flesh covering his ribs and a bark of laughter. Regulus blinked owlishly before slipping down to rest beside Rabastan, almost shoulder to shoulder. “Too much.” He huffed, pinching the bridge of his nose and watched the violent orange burn of the cherry at the end of Lestrange’s cigarette.
benjyfens:
— he’d have been content ignoring this new unwanted? guest and diving right back into his hobby, but somehow he felt the unsettling feeling brought upon by a slytherin lurking in his safe space wasn’t going away any time soon – and neither was regulus, it seemed, by the way he was ogling the telescope. “are your parents fans of astronomy, then? or did they name you after a star because they just knew you’d have a bright, shining personality?” a smirk was present on ben’s lips, as he asked half sarcastically, half out of pure curiosity. “if you look hard enough, you might be able to see regulus in the sky tonight. though it’s much more visible during the spring.”
regulus didn’t know why he felt the pull to stay atop the tower, perhaps it was purely out of spite. his own safe space, fringed by stone and then nothing but air, was already occupied. yet he couldn’t fault benjy for seeking it out when they were there for what seemed to be identical reasons. “not particularly, at least, not my parents. a few generations back maybe. just a tradition at this point.” he didn’t know how to find the words to say that he’d come to do the same thing, he’d only ever used the naked-eye to trail across the litter of stars, usually with andromeda or sometimes narcissa when he promised her some sweets and one of his best warming charms. it was his biggest comfort if he could only see the stars. “thank you.” he murmured quietly, shooting benjy a small and grateful smile. he knew when his star shone the brightest but they were words laced with kindness, something he hadn’t felt much of lately.
youngwarrixrrosier:
“A toss that doesn’t give a toss, how poetic. You’re almost as careless as your good for nothing brother.” He threw out, without much room for regret in mentioning the other. “I don’t know, being dragged back to London by your mother? That’s a nightmare all on it’s own. I might keep the whole.. letter writing thing in mind for next time, Reg.”
Regulus bit the inside of his cheek so hard he could taste the salt and iron tang of blood. “Quite.” He agreed blandly, smirk not dimming in spite of his flare of fury. “This is why the old bag loves you so much, Rosier, utterly charming. I’ll get away with it though, won’t I? They’ve run out of heirs to blast off the family tree.” He quirked one eyebrow. “Mhmm, next time.”
rabastcn:
Rabastan sat in an empty hallway, head against the wall, smoking a cigarette. He didn’t want to be in his dorm, cooped up, but he didn’t want to be around a large group of people either. So instead, he went to the place he always went to when he needed to think or relax or just be alone, the mostly hidden corridor next to the library. He was perfectly content being alone, until someone walked up to him. “This abandoned corridor is occupied,” he said, taking a drag of his cigarette and flipping the page in his book.
The weak winter sunlight streamed down through the small, high windows, illuminating the curling smoke that Rabastan exhaled. “So was Poland twenty years ago, Lestrange, what’s your point?” Regulus hummed around a smirk.
regulus arcturus black // the black angels - young men dead.
benjyfens:
— well, it could have been WORSE, but he certainly could of thought of at least a hundred other people he’d rather see atop the astronomy tower than regulus black. the youngest black was the least frightening of the family to him [ besides sirius, of course ]. though doubtlessly, regulus was certainly capable of inflicting pain upon muggleborns just like the rest of the pureblooded bunch ; benjy found himself thanking his lucky stars above him that it hadn’t been bellatrix taking a night-time stroll. “ hopefully they did hear me, and maybe they’ll join us. then it’ll be a proper party, won’t it? “ benjy smiled dryly at the slytherin, before reverting his gaze back to the telescope. “ not that i’m opposed to a bit of one-on-one time with you, mate. ”
regulus blinked owlishly at the bespectacled gryffindor, rubbing shyly at the outside of his elbow. “i don’t reckon a bunch of teenagers would be that eager to roll out of bed then immediately get up all those stairs.” he scoffed, silently gliding closer and nosily inspecting the telescope. he knew there was no astronomy lesson taking place, had checked in an attempt to make sure that he’d be utterly alone. bloody gryffindors, ruining everything. “ah yes, i’m sure you’re beside yourself with glee.” regulus murmured with a roll of his eyes.
mos-diggory:
“To the genius who took my father’s watch. Ha ha good joke. You’ve had your fun now. So could I please have it back? This isn’t funny anymore.”
“I’m certain it’s Peeves.” Reg snarled, fist tightening in his pocket at his own loss. “I just have no idea why he hasn’t floated by to sodding gloat yet.”
nvrcisssa:
“WELL, REG, DESPITE popular belief, not every Slytherin is a pureblood. A girl in my dorm had it. I liked it.” There was a defensive edge to her tone despite her serene smile. “No one’s even here to here this.” Narcissa knew that her parents would believe some sort of devil would have tainted her, or perhaps her cousin had gotten to her and she’d soon be trying to sit on James Potter’s dick just like Sirius, but the simple fact was it reminded her of the Wizard Rock she listened to occasionally and it was nice.
“Yes, I suppose that must be true. Although if I ever pointed that out I feel as though my mum and dad would snap my wand for my trouble.” He nodded slowly, grey-blue eyes still flicking around them. It was a trait he had been determined to ignore sprouting within him recently, paranoia was never a good sign. “You know I get it, Cissa.” He hummed quietly under his breath, dropping the wry edge to his voice as the music continued to wash over him. “I just want you to be careful.”
