Before approaching the restaurant Emilie had a feeling she would need to do some defending on her sudden disappearance. The truth was Preston was the reason. Since the night of the event, they havenât spent much time apart outside of the workday. Who could blame her? The man she thought she lost and she assumed would hate her if they were to ever meet again, has come back into her life with the exact opposite feelings. It was hard for her to control her level of happiness, another reason one would say she was avoiding Emmett. She didnât like lying to him, it was one of the hardest things she could do. As she sat across from him, she grabbed the napkin that was neatly placed on her plate and threw it on her lap. As he asked her what other stuff was keeping her busy, she sighed lightly. âWell you know, Iâve been working at finding the right unit for Sugar Rub and Iâve been getting closer with Oscar Beaufort recently, so that kind of stuff.â She looked at him, as he took his glass of wine. âIs that the answer you wanted to hear?â She knew him well enough to know his question wasnât exactly what is was at face-value, there was a hidden question within that she was going to have him ask her flat out if he wanted that answer.Â
Emmett had said he was going to keep out of her relationships, specifically anything that might have to do with Preston. So when she started talking, he knew her well enough to know that she wasnât going to share anything that had to do with him. he listened to him and nodded. âChris reached out to me. I think he is interested in the offer I presented him.â He said as he sipped his wine and shrugged. âI just wanted the truth and if that is the truth then that is what I wanted. And youâve never lied to me, so then yes, Itâs what I wanted to hear.â He said with a smile. âIâm starving lets order everything.â He said with a laugh.
