how are you deciding the emojis for each poll?
Full list of emojis supported on Apple platforms, including new 2025 emojis in iOS 18.4 (iPhone), iPadOS, macOS Big Sur, watchOS, and tvOS.
this website lists all emojis available on ios version 18.4 (i will not update this if more emojis are ever added). i have taken most emojis listed there and placed them all into a randomly generated tournament bracket, revealing a single pairing each day.
are you really gonna do *every* emoji?
no. mainly i don't have the time or resources to do all of them, but there are also just some emojis that would cause too much discourse.
then which ones are you *not* doing?
firstly, i'm excluding all emojis that contain non-yellow skin. i am not racist, i want to be very clear. but i know if i put multiple skin tones in the polls, there is an unfortunately high chance that there will be a poll that is two of the same emoji, but different skin tones. we shouldn't be judging the emojis based on the skin tone, anyways. i will not facilitate that.
secondly, all country flags will be excluded from the pool. mainly, this is because that would inevitably lead to heated political discourse, which i don't wanna deal with. however, this does not apply to the chequered flag, triangular red flag, black flag, white flag, gay pride flag, trans pride flag, or pirate flag. the only unsavory combination i could imagine in there is gay vs trans, and even that probably wouldn't get very heated, so i feel comfortable including all of them.
thirdly, i'm excluding most of the gendered emojis that have a gender-neutral equivalent. for similar reasons as the above ones, it'd start a lot of sexism discourse, and i don't really want to deal with that. the ones i am including are boy, girl, man, woman, old man, old woman, santa claus, and mrs claus.
fourthly, these ones. gone. too many. leave please. all these depictions are valid, yes but just. too many.
finally, i'm excluding most of the heart emojis. there's just too many. look at this.
this is too many hearts. i'll be including the double pink heart without motion lines, the broken heart, the burning heart, the bandaged heart, the red heart, and the pink heart. everything else will have to go. i'm sorry. but not really.

no. i do not have time to manually pick any pairings. the top of this faq links to a post where you can see live every emoji that's already been decided, and where it ranks.
this is never going to tell you what the "best" emoji is, the tournament system is inherently flawed, i think you should do this system instead-
no. whatever system you're going to suggest, i've already considered and decided it would take me too much time to plan out. we're doing tournament style, not round robin, not anything else.
