I got to thinking about what shubbur said, that it was Wilbur who was more interested in the relationship than she was. it could be true from the perspective that for Wilbur, it was this "celebrity" crush, the person that he wanted to be with so badly. I feel that, although obviously, they were both very happy and there was nothing toxic in terms of their attitudes, he put her on a pedestal, he already had expectations.
That's why he put in an enormous effort, that's why he took her on those trips, which is where he wanted to be with her because it was his dream. If we compare that with Shelby, I think maybe she didn't feel that same intensity about the relationship. Yes, she was excited, but it was the honeymoon phase. She visited, but I think it was also because of her career and her friends. not just wilbur.
Shelby obviously felt the same for him, and I don't want to say that she was a bad girlfriend. I just mean that the intensity and expectations were more on Wilbur's side.
but I firmly believe that it was rather the distance that killed the relationship
I disagree with shubbur, as always actually we always disagree 😭 but like we never will I am the wilbur guy she is the shubble gal, like we don't correlate. I don't believe it was lack of interest in any side to be quite honest, I think they both were in love, very much so, but him succeeding with touring ruined their relationship as it was like, their hopes and dreams couldn't be the same anymore. I think shubble actually was as invested as him, because she is way more open with feelings, she was way more open about their relationship, she took it hard it seemed too, so I do not believe for a second she was uninterested.
I think the dream girl thing plays even harder into the problem concerning him by the way, realizing that even though this was the girl of his dreams and that he did everything to settle he can't, it won't work, they're pursuing different things, etc. Also why would he cry to your sister was right too? If it wasn't his choice, I think the songs will define this too, I think its even possible they both came to this conclusion together. I lean more to Wilbur making the decision and regretting it though, but it's not an exact science this is just me knowing him, analyzing their reactions and their relationship as a whole.
ALSO! Going to the UK would not benefit her at all, so if she wasn't super in love I don't understand why she would make that choice. I think they both loved each other but it all changed when he started touring.
Again, just how I see it.
