I've been drawing a lot, but not with references or tutorials lately. I'm trying to get back into that now.

I've been drawing a lot, but not with references or tutorials lately. I'm trying to get back into that now.

I'm starting to be proud of some of my drawings. They sure aren't perfect, but they're closer to 'good' than before.
Yo! It's been a second.
I've been practicing Chommang's method for drawing bodies and heads for just over the last week and a half. I joined his Patreon and have been seeing some massive improvement, seeing as none of these are references.
I'm currently just studying bodies, and I'll add in the head practice alongside it over time.
12-1-2025
I'm starting to try and draw muscles. Art is quite painful...
The tutorial I'm currently studying: Chommang
I'm really bad at visualizing 3D, hence my flat-looking art.
11-29-2025
I think I'm starting to 'get' how to draw people--or at the very least I'm on the right track...
Don't know what to draw after I make the mannequins, but at least I'm getting better at the mannequins..?
PS: Happy Thanksgiving
These are my further attempts at hares from yesterday and today. Ones marked "Ref'd" are referenced, while the rest are from imagination.
I probably won't post again until I see a large improvement in my art, despite my stand against cherry-picking my good art. I just don't want to have this Tumblr contain a thousand photos before I get 'good' at art.
Hare: 2nd Try
I tried drawing with a pencil and paper. I feel like it's a world of difference and improvement. Probably only gonna post paper drawings from now on.
The head shape finally clicked in my mind. Kinda like a rounded rectangle with a downward slope for the front and a notch to indicate the nose.
Simplification Practice #2: Hare
After a rather disappointing attempt at another hare, I tried boxing out an animal in a way that would help me the most. I think it helped...
Instead of blocking out things from what I see, I think I'll do what I did with this:
Trace a block out, focusing on bisecting parts and using shapes instead of an exact trace.
Draw the picture using my trace-block-out as the reference.
Simplification Practice #1: Hare
Took an hour, but I did my first simplification using this pic of a European hare. Looks pretty bad for it to take that long, but it is what it is...
11/23/25
I think I'm gonna take a short break from human drawings and try to actually go small for once instead of trying to tackle the larger subject all at once.
Following this kind of concept:
Simplification: RapidFireArt
Simplification: Drawing & Painting
For showcase purposes, here's how I currently draw people.
I've been learning the body parts individually over the past few weeks and mass sketching them:
Head -> Neck -> Body -> Arms -> Legs/Waist (Currently focusing on)
Evidently, I haven't gotten to feet yet...
Yo!
I'm EmptyCarton and I make 'meh' art. This is a dump for said drawings so I can visualize my improvement over time. My goal for the foreseeable future is to draw gooder. I'm currently trying to draw more 'realistic' anatomy, following some of Chommang's tutorials.
I feel like I draw better with pencil and paper currently, so I may post some of those later.
If anyone has art tips, feel free to send them my way!
