“—s’why i tell people to get a dog.” he crumpled up the small town newspaper in his hand, otherwise sidelining the article about the thefts, and that one super dumb article about the deer who got was hanging out in the grocery store parking lot, and slouched into the low slung couch. deftly, with the skill of someone who’d made smoking a second habit, he pulled a stick from his back pocket and fumbling briefly for his lighter. “you mind if i smoke in here?” he asked—but not really, because as he was asking he was also actively lighting up. he took a long drag before he blew it out his nose.

Emma stared at the boy as he made himself comfortable in her living room, wondering how he got inside in the first place.’’ Prescott? ‘’ She asked but he did not hear her. ‘’ Sure, my dad used to smoke in here all the time anyway.. ‘’ The brunette replied, but interrupted herself when she noticed the cigarette was already lit.’’ What are you doing here so early anyway? ‘’

“i’m not saying you have to hang out with me, but it’d be nice if you did. especially since i’ve been watching crime shows ll day and i’m kinda freaked out.”

‘’ Seriously? Crime Shows? That’s what freaks you out? ‘’ Emma laughed, sitting down on the couch beside her. ‘’ I suggest you not to ever watch the Saw movies, you’ll never sleep again. I mean, dude, crime shows. ‘’
