in chronological order because these papers are all basically responding to each other; this papers focus on the (morpho)syntax and semantics of english singular 'they' referring to specific people (like they/them pronoun-users).

Actually this is a lie and all linguists flirt (platonically or otherwise) by drawing and interacting with complicated-looking diagrams in front of people who don't understand them.

by the way. being educated/trained in linguistics does not automatically free you from having reactionary thoughts about the validity of different ways of languaging. it does give you the tools to recognize and counter those thoughts as being false. you still have to be an active participant in shaping your own linguistic worldview.

cool (and free!) resource for german 💌

i've never seen anyone on the internet recommend this website (i found it by chance while stalking my uni's german department ig account).

it's called blueskywords (and no, it's not related to the app). it includes materials for all levels. each unit offers a text and the rest of the items revolve around it: questions, vocabulary notes, audio tracks, grammar quizzes... it's a limited compilation but it's 100% reliable and FREE! (i know this sounds like an add but i've just joined tumblr and i literally have like 5 followers?).
