There’s definitions of things but there’s often parts of a thing that exist on the edge of that definition but everyone knows is still that thing. Definitions are useful but at the end of the day you know a thing when you see it. You know that a horse is not a chair and that a 90s inflatable chair is a chair and that a table is not a chair even if someone is sitting on it. You know a chair when you see it. A beanbag both is and is not a type of chair and this is a comfortable truth.

My favourite rule when making the systems for my Saint ocs is that they all follow rules where one is an exception. My reason for this probably doesn’t require me to explain prototype theory but i cant think of another way so im not gonna explain why I’ll just say what.

For example, They all have something signature they wear that signifies they are the saint of their convent. Satiety has the NPO sign, Burden has the weights and chains, Chastity has the black veil, Humility has the blindfold, silence has the mouth and neck covering, servitude has the crescent’s rapier. Poverty however does not because Poverty is identified by the absence of something.

There are many other things. All the saints are figures to be admired by their people except Burden. All saints have their own people except Servitude who exists as a saint for the saints. All saints are expected to take essentially confessions of their subjects except Silence. All saints study their holy writings except Humility. All saints do have the freedom to make spontaneous trips in their free time except Chastity. All saints have national days of mourning at their deaths except Satiety.

In today of I’m making my mam listen to the Magnus archives.

a really really really underrated feeling in learning a different language is when you start to hear words. as in it's no longer a string of sounds, you can parse through where words start and stop as you're hearing them. even words that you don't know what they mean yet but you can distinctly hear it as a whole word
