Slowly playing around with colour. Paper is definitely a must. Using moleskine as testing ground is definitely not a good choice as you can see. This is an old watercolor sketchbook but I never liked it much and you can tell why. It doesn't like me much using the airbrush in it since it can't handle neither too much water or alcohol. The other illustration I used 100% cotton professional grade paper in satin but I feel that 100% may be too much. I have ordered some ecoline paper as well as some mi teintes, see how they'll fair. I'm running from 100% cellulose but I'll still try the dedicated brand's paper see how it goes.
I need some sketches for illustrations but I've been blank on that. Meanwhile I've been working on pages whenever I have some minutes. Goal this year is 1 chapter complete at least 😂
Been working on this page so slowly but at least I'm happy with it 😂 wobbly fence but that's its charm
a bad collage of hands from the best webcomic you never read
I got this new tool which is a manual airbrush (or blow airbrush or mouth diffuser, whichever you prefer to call it) and just tested it with some ecoline and it worked exactly as I expected. It definitely needs practice, especially for the lungs ahah. But huge potential.
The splatter spots was pure ecoline (pastel red) and the more diffuse and smooth spots I diluted scarlet in alcohol. Alcohol helps diffuse and spread colour in paper. Obviously it will soak through if it's too strong a spot, just like alcohol markers. But this is definitely a great alternative to dedicated aerographs and very very cheap (less than 3€).
slowly and steadly remaking some pages that never saw the light of day 😂
My brain has this thing that it's great at unmaking knots but making knots, even drawing them, it takes an effort to understand the pattern🥴 I know I could make it digitally but it's the imperfections of handmade that give the inking its charm to me.
Making correct references for the comic, rebuilding in 3D from a frontal and blueprints reference. I miss working on my comic but I'm taking it slowly getting back to drawing. No rush.
Ecolines on cotton paper
some practice with watercolours and ink.
Inking pages by hand is so much more satisfying...
