sometimes i get to thinking about how season 4 makes you want so much stuff to happen in season 5 that just doesn't and i dont understand how someone could actually write that season and then create season 5 afterwards unless they completely gave up and just started writing out of their ass.

because at the end of season 4, you have the audience rooting for will to find love or have his feelings be reciprocated in some way (it didn't have to be mike i suppose, but still - the painting was. interesting), you also have the audience rooting for mike to be better at communicating his feelings to el, and you have the audience rooting for el to free herself from the lab and having a normal life where she isn't weighted down by that. instead you get will continuing to pine for mike as if the painting never occurred before he gets over him in 1 day, mike not even talking to el in the first half and then they STILL dont tell each other things in the second half, and then el's hopes for a normal life is completely denied.

Whatever you do don’t think about Mike who has learned over the years to control his tears and how to stop them still in his eyes so he wouldn’t appear vulnerable to anyone, and to not mess up his carful mask of bravery.

Don’t think about how when he felt that sting in his nostrils, he closed his eyes, looked at the sky and blinked his tears away, putting on a forced smile and feeling numb throughout the day.

And never ever think about Mike finally and suddenly breaking down, burning tears he had been swallowing down for years spilling violently from his eyes, sobbing loudly, completely unaware of his surroundings except for the warm weight of Will’s arms embracing him and rubbing his back, their wet cheeks sticking together. Finally realising that being brave doesn’t mean he can’t be scared.

'but byler being canon wouldn't be that groundbreaking, there a lot of shows with queer representation' yes but most of them are actually queer shows so they are targeted at a queer audience or its random side characters un the background living the most sterotypical queer relathionship. What you fail to get is that stranger things is one of the most popular series where the main plot isn't romance and is not made for queer people specifically. It has reached so many people regardless of age, sexuality or gender. A lot of people that would never even touch a queer series watched it. So yes two mainchracters dating in such a series while that isn't the main plot is groundbreaking since it literally would be a chance to actually represent queer characters especially in a time like the 80s.

nancy connects the dirty and cluttered cabin to mike's room. mike's room subtextually represents his inner world, his mind and private thoughts and feelings.

mike feels there is something repulsive, disgusting and dirty about him. a total disaster. but wait a minute

water still works! there is still hope for mike. water (feelings, someone's love) can help with cleaning the cabin (making mike believe he's not dirty and disgusting at all).

it is so sweet that it's nancy who says it. i hope this means that she'll accept mike and show him that his situation is not that bad.

will, jane, nancy and jonathan all help to clean up the cabin.

Mike who's thought he was ugly for his whole life and Will who draws Mike constantly because he thinks he's absolutely beautiful and one day Mike kind of offhandedly remarks that Will doesn't have to draw him all the time and just because they're together it doesn't mean he can't draw guys that are more attractive and then Will is just so taken aback because how on earth could there be anyone he'd rather draw than Mike?

i think at some point will gets so pissed at mike’s new hair that one night when mike is sleeping he drags him into the bathroom and does his whole curly hair routine and mike wakes up looking 10 years younger and he actually just starts bawling

I think what’s important (and positive) to remember is that Will and Mike have so much time. The show ended with them being only freshly 18, that is so young. There’s so many different ways and scenarios in which they can get together and be happy. Just because they weren’t canonised in the show doesn’t mean it’s over for them and they’re not even friends anymore and they’re doomed. I believe there are so many possibilities of their future and in each one they’re together and in love.

Every time when I rewatch s2 I get so maternal for Wiw that I'm almost at the verge of tears every second he's on screen.

He's saying sorry and Joyce tells him that they already talked about stopping with the sorries, he tries not to tell people about his episodes because he doesn't want to feel like a freak who needs help, he's losing weight (Owens says Will lost a couple of pounds since their last meeting), he disparages himself with the zombie boy drawing, his eye bags, his sad kitten dolorous expressions, his hollow gaze and apathetic speech at the hospital 😭😭😭
