Jesus was whipped and wounded so that you could be healed from every sickness and every condition. Declare it! Receive your healing in Jesus’s name. (Isaiah 53:5)
Like a Child
Isaiah 36-37
When Hezekiah was king of Judah, Assyria threatened Jerusalem. The Assyrians were known for being merciless conquerors then, and Judah was next in their hit list. Amidst the terror, Hezekiah’s first step was to go to the temple of the Lord. There he prayed to God like a child telling his father about kids bullying him. His prayer began with an acknowledgement of who God is.
“O LORD of Heaven’s Armies, God of Israel, you are enthroned between the mighty cherubim! You alone are God of all the kingdoms of the earth. You alone created the heavens and the earth. Isaiah 37:16 NLT
When faced with a mighty mountain or surrounded by raging seas, the first thing to do is to run to God. We do not need to pray exactly what Hezekiah prayed, but we must always kneel down before proceeding to anything. Praying is acknowledging that God is higher than whatever circumstance we are in, and therefore able to help us overcome our situation. So we must always draw near to our Father, having faith that He can and He will listen to and carry us.
Display
Isaiah 35
Isaiah spoke of wastelands blossoming with flowers and deserts coming back to life. Amidst that imagery, he said
There the LORD will display his glory, the splendor of our God. Isaiah 35:2 NLT
He spoke of blind eyes being opened, deaf ears being unplugged, the lame leaping like deer, and the mute singing for joy. He was speaking of restoration, and mentions that in these things, God will display His glory. This is who God is! Where He restores brokenness, there He displays his power and glory.
If you feel too broken right now, let hope rise within you. God delights in saving you, and restoring you, and delivering you. He delights in these because He will display His glory through you.
Say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, and do not fear, for your God is coming to destroy your enemies. He is coming to save you.” Isaiah 35:4 NLT
The psalmist says
You guide me with your counsel, leading me to a glorious destiny. My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever. Psalm 73:24,26 NLT
We all go through tough times. At certain points, it would feel like we’ve met our end and we can’t go on anymore. But we can claim for ourselves that through Christ, God is our portion forever. This means that however weak we may be, God can carry us through because we know that God’s strength, which dwells right inside our hearts, is strength like no other.
But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. John 1:12 NLT
By letting Jesus into your life and your heart, you become a child of God. This is who you are! Claim it and wear it all over you wherever you are.
See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! I John 3:1 NLT
Abide to Abound
So many times in the Bible, God promises prosperity and abundance to His people. If we are being observant, however, prosperity is always linked to His people being with Him or on His side. Isaiah prophesies to God’s people:
the Lord will greatly bless his people. Wherever they plant seed, bountiful crops will spring up. Their cattle and donkeys will graze freely. Isaiah 32:20 NLT
In context, this was to happen “until at last the Spirit is poured out... from heaven” (v. 15). When the Spirit already poured out, only then will the people flourish. The psalmist also tells us that those who keep close to the word of God grow like trees along the riverbank.
But they delight in the law of the LORD, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do. Psalm 1:2-3 NLT
The same argument is in this very much quoted verse from the book of Joshua.
Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Joshua 1:8 NIV
Jesus himself said basically the same thing.
“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:5 NLT
God designed us to bear fruit and flourish. Jesus saved us for us to have a rich and satisfying life (John 10:10). But fruitfulness is tied to a close relationship with God. A life lived to the fullest is only found by those who remain close to Christ. If you want to abound, then you must abide.
You don’t know where else to go. You don’t want tomorrow to come anymore. You can’t forgive yourself for what you’ve done. Your life is never going to change anyway. You’ve lost trust in yourself. You fear what’s going to happen. You are beyond reach of any help and any hope. It’s useless to try again. It’s all just so messed up.
Maybe all you can and need to do is just fall on your knees and surrender everything to God.
Where do you delight?
Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4 ESV
We usually quote this verse, admit it or not, for the part where it says “and he will give you the desires of your heart.” But it is beautiful to look at these specific words. “Delight yourself in the LORD.” Will this verse get as much quoting if the latter part’s not there? Can we still delight in the Lord even when it seems like He won’t be giving what our hearts desire? The verse says delight... and He will give you. We must first learn to delight in the Lord alone, and then we’ll see our desires being satisfied. If you think about it, if you’ve already learned delighting in the Lord alone, then you will only desire what He desires and what gives Him glory. Surely then, He’s going to give you the desires of your heart!
Come and Return
Isaiah 31
Israel really had it all messed up. They were “such wicked rebels,” turning to so many various gods and powers for deliverance from their enemies. And God in his justice has decreed to punish them for these. However, in His mercy and compassion, He actually invites them to return to Him.
Though you are such wicked rebels, my people, come and return to the LORD. I know the glorious day will come when each of you will throw away the gold idols and silver images your sinful hands have made. Isaiah 31:6-7 NLT
This is God. He is both just and merciful. He surely knows how sinfully depraved each of us is, and He has to punish us for that. And He did, through the cross. Whatever punishment was due us was poured out on Christ when He died on the cross. Now, God invites us to return to Him and be restored, whatever mess it is that we’ve done with our lives. And we can sprint right into His arms because of what Christ has done for us. So come and return to the Lord, for his arms are wide open.
Trusting Him means letting go of the wheel and letting Him totally take over. Let go today, and God will surely bring you where life is lived to its fullest.
God wants you to obey Him now. Not tomorrow or later. Set out to follow what He wants you to do now. Where He wants you to be is where you’ll find greatest joy and peace.
“If you want to live a life of purpose, obey now.” —Maloi Salumbides
Sure Foundation
Isaiah 28
Trusting in anything else apart from God is useless. Every other foundation is bound to crumble and fade away because of its innate weakness and limitations. Take no pride in earthly glory and beauty. Instead, let your entire life be founded upon Christ, the unshakable cornerstone.
Therefore, this is what the Sovereign LORD says: “Look! I am placing a foundation stone in Jerusalem, a firm and tested stone. It is a precious cornerstone that is safe to build on. Whoever believes need never be shaken. Isaiah 28:16 NLT See also I Peter 2:4-6
Whoever has his life anchored in Christ will never be shaken. So let the Lord be your glorious crown. Let Him be your pride and joy.

God is able to make you fall in love with Him deeper than you can imagine.

His love is boundless. ♥
Divine Promises
I have mentioned once in my personal blog that I desire to attend Bible school. That was years ago. I herein tell God's story of His faithfulness to His promise and to His calling.
About two months after accepting Christ as my Lord and Savior, I was driving to school with my dad and I fell asleep. In my dream I saw this: "Matthew 4:20." I was of course far from being well versed with the Bible then, so I looked it up as soon as I had the chance to. The verse says "And they straightway left their nets, and followed him" (the context was that Jesus called Peter and Andrew to be His disciples). I did not get it, because I was expecting it would be "Fear not" or "The Lord sees your deeds" or so. I could not fathom why the verse turns out to be saying only that two fishermen left their nets and followed Jesus. Months passed by and I realized that it was a calling from God. I saw that I desire to devote my entire time serving in the church, and I cannot find joy doing what I was doing back then (I was pursuing a degree in Statistics). Besides that, I understood that that was the first time in my life that I actually had a dream profession for myself. As a kid, I did not have those ambitions of becoming a doctor or a lawyer or what when I grow up. I really had nothing in mind. That was the first time that I actually had an I-want-to-be.
Of course I was too young in the faith, I thought, so I had to clarify it to God for some time because I was thinking that I do not want to go through this just because I wanted it. I wanted to pursue this because God wanted it. By the end of my first year on college, I told my parents about it. Though my parents were themselves believers, they did not want me to attend the Bible school. For some reason, they wanted me to finish a secular course first, then go be a pastor afterwards. That whole summer was a period of heavy drama for me, with all the begging for my parents' approval and their insistent rejection. Finally, God tells me that I must honor my parents so I decided to go on with Statistics. I actually thank God right now that He so wisely made me spend another year waiting for His timing, because if anything good happened during my second year in college, it was that God taught me so many things and I really grew in faith. It still holds true, though, that where God calls us is where we will be no matter what happens.
January of that second school year, I attended a church service where the people get anointed with oil for consecration. Through most of the service, it came through me as a normal Sunday activity. When we got to the anointing, though, I just felt God pour out His blessing and really confirm to me that He is calling me into full time service. What happened inside of me and between me and God during that time will most likely take me another long post, so I will have to skip that for now. The thing is, it was confirmed to me that time that God is calling me.
Months after that, the school year comes to a close. One night, as I worship God, He tells me that His timing is coming near. Of course that made me very happy. Here is the thing: I had to drop Statistics then because it was not working anymore (I am honestly not good with numbers). That being, I had to shift to another course. I was still considering what my parents want, so I planned to shift to Film (although I was wishing they'd finally let me attend Bible school). I applied for shifting, I took an exam, went through an interview, waited for days. The results came out and I did not make the cut. I had nowhere to go. The shifting for any other course was already closed then, so it was either I attend Bible school or I stop going to school for a year then try again the next year. I tried to tell my parents (again) about my Bible school plans and to my dismay they still don't approve.
I ran to my room crying that morning, and I asked God why He'd call me and not really do anything about it. God had one message: Be still. I settled my thoughts and my feelings, and I trusted that God was still in control. I was, during those times, sitting on my bed beside my laptop. For some reason, God leads me to checking my Facebook news feed (I love God for being ever surprising). I did check the news feed, and I came across a post from Chris Tomlin's page. It says something like not your friends or your family or anything else can tell you who you will be; only God has your future in His hands. Naturally, my soul bowed before God. That very moment, I was reminded of every promise God had for me regarding His calling – everything since He first called me. Some weeks after that, one night, after hours of crying and interrogation, my parents finally allowed me to attend Bible school. The events that transpired that night will most probably be in a separate post, as that night in itself has important things about it. For now, this is what I want to declare: God is faithful to His promises. He has called me, and He has promised to lead me to the end of this, and so far He has been true to His words. I still look back to the things God proved to me during my time of waiting when I find myself struggling with hardships of being a Bible student. I remind myself that God has called me into this, and He will be faithful to finish His work in me, as He was faithful to get me where I am right now. God will never break His promises. He is an ever faithful God.
