The basing continues, im worried a bit as I varnished my commander and a bit of the pink paint ive been using came out so im hoping when I varnish these they'll be fine, we'll see.
Also this boys ready to be primed, looking forward to seeing what they look like with a bit of paint on them.

From left to right:
A aluminum chocolate cigar tin, with some piping from Mantic Games and a ladder from Uncertain Scenery.
A 99p cardboard gift box with plastic card and tubing, various terrain bits from Crooked Dice and the terrain sprue from Maelstrom’s Edge.
And a miniature Pringles can with some piping from Mantic Games, more terrain bits from Crooked Dice and some random plastic bits thrown on to break up the outline.
No one asked but here’s a brief tutorial on digital underpainting and how it can add some extra flavor to your art!
(I got asked this a couple times so just to clarify: I used “overlay” in the second slide… but the rest of these examples are JUST painted on, no effects! Try playing with the opacity on your pencil/water/brush tool to allow the base color to show through!)
I love how impossibly goofy Imperial capital ship designs are in the Warhammer 40K universe. Like, I can just about see the sense of putting stairs inside a starship if you’ve got magic artificial gravity and such, but exactly what scenario were the ship’s designers envisioning when they put in an exterior staircase? Even leaving aside the gravity question, who exactly is expecting to need to access the command bridge of a kilometre-long starship from the outside on a sufficiently regular basis that putting in some stairs feels like the smart call?
The Mechanicus, probably. They’ve got good reason to go out there (fix things) and Then again, “Smart calls” and “practical decisions” fell by the curbside in favor of the “Rule of Cool” practically from the start.
Because clearly if you need some emergency repairs made in the thick of battle, the first thing you’re going to do is make a bunch of asthmatic cyborg nerds climb a two hundred metre staircase on foot.

And with that, the Cadre is built! The last model was my Enforcer Commander and now I’m shifting heavily into painting. Looking forward to putting down the glue for a while and making my army look awesome.
My commander is Shas’o T’au Ko’vash Shi (nicknamed Shas’o Ko’Shi by his Shas’vres). His names mean “In pursuit of a worthy cause” and “victory” together meaning “noble victory”.
He was initially part of the 3rd Sphere Expansion (when I last played) but his fleet was struck by an anomaly while returning to T’au and he was lost to space along with half of his Cadre. It wasn’t until well into the 5th Sphere Expansion that a weak distress beacon was detected by Air Caste scouts using an antiquated signal. To the amazement of the scouts, the source of the signal was a derelict T’au wreck; but more amazing was that thousands of Stasis Pods on board were still active, including that of their commander Ko’Shi.
Ko’Shi now finds himself in a very different T’au Empire than that of his birth. Larger, more powerful Battlesuits dominate T’au strategy and there is a startling rejection of aliens among many of the Fire Warriors serving beneath him. Ko’Shi is very much a traditionalist at heart and believes the Tau’Va is for all, and he staunchly opposes the suspicion of his peers.
Despite being a T’au out of time, Ko’Shi has had several notable victories and surviving members of his original Cadre have flocked to his banner once more, eager to follow him as he fights to spread the nobility of the greater good to the stars.
Don’t you love when you get blamed for academic misconduct, write an appeal to the Dean proving how it wasn’t academic misconduct, and then they say you performed academic misconduct anyway so the best course of action is to drop the course?

This piece has really given a fresh look to my paintings. Especially with the 2D painting of the background. I can't wait to continue this kind of project that pushes me to improve.

So Kill Team Ares are a group of veterans of the Long War (the Legionnaires are anyway) who have access to some of the most dangerous weapons the XIV Grand Battalion. They are entrusted with these weapons and devices as they are to utilise them in the destruction of emplacements and defenses, to pave the way for the arrival of the Warsmith-Praetor's forces.
