The Sun. Art by taurzza.
So I do 3D modeling and printing as a hobby, and a few weeks ago I designed wheel guards meant to prevent office chairs from running over cables and clothes... or your pet's tail.
I got the idea from cowcatchers old locomotives used to have.
Anyways, yesterday I uploaded the model to Thingiverse, and just hours after uploading it, the Community Relationship Manager of the whole website left a comment suggesting I enter the model into a competition that's currently being held on the site.
So I did... and now it's in third place not even a day later. First place is $500, but the competition still has a month to go.
Then the Community Manager contacted me again, telling me they want to feature my model in an upcoming design promotion.
Just, what is happening? I mostly made this thing for myself in, like, an hour, and now it's suddenly super popular? This is all a little bit overwhelming 😵💫
Other models I worked on for weeks didn't get nearly as popular. I swear, it's impossible to predict what people will like.
Anyways, if you want to print the wheel guards yourself, you can get the model here or here.
I also made a quiet version you can stick furniture felt pads on.
People love simple, extremely practical things. I hope you win!

hey real quick can anybody help me find this image that I’ve seen before here on tumblr. it looks like this
the button doesn’t necessarily say “Elucidate the Rapture” but it does say something that’s kind of lengthy and has religious connotations. the woman pushing the button has an expression of indescribable smugness. there might be other buttons on the machine (?) she is pressing.
FOUND IT
Oh this is only the first image in the Eschatron 9000 Series
and the finale, because of the Tumblr image limit
thanks this is part of an even grander incomprehensibleness than I could have expected
I cannot believe that this is a website where you can ask “hey i think i saw a weird image once” and put a bad stick figure drawing of it and someone will be like “oh yeah that’s the first installment of a 12-part post-ironic apocalypse fever dream photoshop series” and just hand you a dozen of the most unhinged images you’ve ever seen in your life, that still have a better three act structure than most modern cinema
I dont think thats the whole photoset…. I found one more
But from what i can gather thats Crystal Thierry, also known as page73girl. Who seems to have been a model for the now defunct biggestletdown.com…
But i have no idea when the eschatron 9000 pictures were made or for that matter the original photos that were used to make it
this is far more than “random person in 2005ish creates surreal visual narrative” - let’s go deeper down the rabbit hole, shall we?
to Immanentize the Eschaton means to bring about utopian conditions and create heaven on Earth
the phrase is first cited in the Discordian religious text, Principia Discordia (1963), for whom Discord (aka Eris) is goddess:
the first line of Robert Anton Wilson and Robert Shea’s 1975 The Illuminatus! trilogy: “It was the year when they finally immanentized the Eschaton.”
in Frederik Pohl’s The Eschaton Sequence (1997 - 1999), the human race is caught up in a galactic war between two alien races attempting to immanentize the eschaton
in Ken Macleod's The Stone Canal (1997), one of the chapters is “Another crack at Immanentising the Eschaton”
Crystal Thierry’s (aka the modern Discordia / Eris) narrative lives in esteemed company
here’s what the warning in the image says btw because i wanted to read it but it was too blurry so i had to spend several minutes hunting for a version with better resolution, so I’m posting it here so nobody else has to make that same journey
“DO NOT OPERATE THE ESCHATRON 9000 UNLESS YOU’RE REALLY, REALLY SERIOUS ABOUT DESTROYING THE WORLD”
also just noticed the labels on the dials on the left side of the device’s control panel:
“MAYHEM” and “DESTRUCTION” are both turned all the way up
As they should be. Can’t make paradise without scrambling a few universes.
Official ominous sign(s)
You definitely don’t get content like this on other webbed sites and apps
I don't think I've made a post of my own in years, and I don't think anyone except for my partner follows me, but I am extremely pleased with how this Chaos Dwarf I painted has turned out. He still needs a shield (that's why there's a weird nub on his hand) and to get glued to a base. But I couldn't be happier with how it's turned out so far. He's the first one I painted as a test so I'm hopeful they'll only get better as I go along.
Commissar Graves in her transport.
If the rules let me bring all three additional weapons I’m bringing all three additional weapons, idk what I have to trim and bolt onto a armour panel.

George Lucas & C-3PO" 1988
Original Japanese double-sided promotional poster
An original Japanese B2 fold-out advertising poster issued by Matsushita Electric / National for the MACLORD MOVIE MC15 / NV-MC15 VHS-C camcorder campaign.
A wonderfully unusual late-1980s Japan-only image:
George Lucas stands with a compact camcorder while C-ЗPO appears beside him with a butterfly net. The slogan reads T-AZDEAD. 1 - "Lucas's Imagination" — linking Lucas's cinematic creativity with Japanese consumer video technology.
My list for the first 750pt game of our 11e escalation league, going hard on the squig theme. My clan's warlord, ZaggaZ Splitwit, has arrived on Armageddon ahead of the rest of his warband to get first dibs looting scrap and establish a foothold on the planet. He scours the landing area atop his personal armored squiggoth, Storm Krusha, followed by a stampede of squighog boyz while a squad of squigs bound behind. His entourage of loot snaggas lie in wait inside the squiggoth, ready to charge out of its giant maw if needed.
Im excited to try this list. Gonna be rough with just 4 units but well see how it goes, that big unit of squighogs is gonna be tough to chew through at 750.
Needs a bit of finishing up paint wise but theyre table ready so im happy :)
