Sunday 29.11- Dracula’s Castle and the Capitol
We woke up to a bit of an odd start and I was ready to go eating the provided breakfast by 8 am. That was slightly behind my intended schedule but Izzy and I never communicated the time we planned to leave, simply when we would wake up. Izzy according to her schedule was ready to go at 8:30. We made our way to the bus stop and after waiting 30 minutes and seeing countless other buses pass by but not the one we needed, decided to walk. I wanted a day picture of the court yard we passed through the night before so we separated and I got my pic and met Izzy at the bus station. We found you buy the tickets on the bus and we waited for our bus to come.
When the bus got there we piled on and both bought two tickets hoping to cover the return trip at the same time.
The ride was a quick 45 minutes and then we were dropped off right in-front of the famous Bran Castle. It seemed much smaller than I imagined it to be and was not situated in an area that was as tall as other castles/fortresses in the area. We hiked our way up to the ticket booth swaying in-between the many people shopping at the souvenir stands all around. We decided to splurge and buy tickets and the audio guides. Luckily the entire package was cheap especially with the conversion rate at what it is.
We made our way through the castle delighted at the info given to us and the simplistic beauty of the estate. We were fine until we got behind tour groups and the hoards of children that were also visiting. We made it through the castle in about and hour and then made our way back outside to shop a little.
After doing some shopping we realized how much time we had before we had to try and get back on the bus so we grabbed a quick deep fried bread and cheese pizza and a donut to go before waiting on the curb. After remarking on a woman trying to steal a parking spot from a family attempting to leave at their own pace we finally were able to find and get on the bus back to Brasov. We showed him our second ticket and we were told we had to pay again anyways. Realizing we got jibbed from the first man we payed the price simply because we needed to get back to town to catch a train.
After our ride back into town we went to the train station and got on our train to Bucharest. Having missed our early train that required a reservation we got on a train that required no reservations and takes a little longer to get into the city.
town was supposed to be the most beautiful and well planned cities in Romania and possibly europe
what we say was neither well planned or containing beauty
seemed like decent people
went downstairs and went to get dinner with izzy
we got dinner from this bar fused with a lounge and it was smoking area?
joked about people around us and their stories
finished food and walked around old town
found all the beauty apparently its within the city not on the outer main street
walked into christmas market and advent program was starting at university square
this city was busiest place in all of romania and even on a sunday
we walked through and I dropped her off at the train station
I walked back to the markets
the concert was over but I looked at shops
saw some more sites before heading home to the hostel
I got some wifi before heading to bed
my room of ten was filled with people wanting to stay up
they left the lights on all night and were having fun in the kitchenette outside the room
luckily i am a pro at hostels and went to bed around midnight
