Beauty
Omg these look so realistic
“Take 1 pint of water, add a half pound of sugar, the juice of 8 lemons, the zest of half a lemon, pour the water from one jug into the other several times. Strain through a thin napkin. Grandmother, the alchemist. You spun gold out of this hard life. Conjured beauty from the things left behind. Found healing where it did not live. Discovered the antidote in your own kitchen. Broke the curse with your own two hands. You passed the instructions down to your own daughter. Then she passed it down to her daughter.”
Congrats to all the black and brown graduates of 2016, we did it!!!! 🍋✊🏾

pretty! big hair is always gonna win
Here are some beauty problems all black girls will understand
1. When the white skin tone is called the “normal” one
2. Finding the right color of foundation is near impossible
3. And “nude” rarely means nude for you
4. You have to deal with stupid beauty campaigns that help promote negative stereotypes
5. Your pre-bed rituals can be exhausting
6. The mere fact that it took this long for this to happen
7. You can be ostracized for being natural
8. People always say the wrong things
9. Straight or natural hair…both bring their own hate
10. Things that are “skin-colored” but…not

All these things are too real, and this is offensive. All these stereotypes were created by white people, and black people are obliged to live by their rules.
Black people are the most disrespected people in the world because of what society tells us to believe and how society tells us to behave based on our history.
This is our time, our life to be who we are and be proud of it.
