Blaze almost retorts with a comment pointing out the absence of any customers, all thanks to the bartender's little compliment. Those are reserved for one certain mech only.
He keeps his mouth shut. He wants a drink and he wants to give this bar a genuine try.
"Just a regular High Grade for the start." Blaze hops up on the bar stool and has one of his feet dangle freely in the air. As he waits for the order, he glues himself to his own datapad screen to quickly check on some emails that had arrived while he was making his way to the city.
After receiving the drink and basking in the emptiness of the bar, Blaze glances at Octane.
"Is it normally this quiet at this bar or did I happen to choose a strange day to come here?"
One of Octane's hoses detaches from its task of grabbing a pre-made drink, still fresh and at the perfect temperature, and slides it down the counter to Blaze before returning to its work. Twitching at the minor inconvenience as if annoyed by the task throwing it off course.
"You missed a Junxies celebration a few hours ago. The place was packed, but they decided to leave after draining this place of nearly every bottle. Anyone still here was either too drunk to follow them out, or they were regulars here for their late fix before the place closed."
He gestures over to the rooms on the other side of the bar, with the word "occupied" glowing in neon on one and "come in" on the other. "Some are in there for, you know, swapping cables and private stuff, if you're interested."
What was he doing again? Oh, yes, the show on the data pad. Frag, he needs to rewind back to where he left off. Those horns distracted him from properly pausing the show when he first spotted them; in fact, they were starting to look familiar for some odd reason he couldn't place.
"Say... have we met before?" Octane asks, glancing back and forth between the data pad and Blaze to ensure he stops and pauses where he last remembers watching. "Maybe we just crossed paths, but... I feel like this isn't my first time seeing you."
So... a burly looking mech, so feral that he sticks out like the sorest metal thumb, walks into the bar. He then thus proceeds to lap at his drink while occasionally nip on the glass cube much to the bar owner's dismay.
This wouldn't be the first time Octane has witnessed mechs and their strange drinking habits. Although he could do without this one chipping away at the cube like it was some chew toy for his amusement.
He leans forward to tap the glass away from the mech, a simple gesture to, with any luck, avoid any unnecessary drama.
"I'd hate to be that mech, but if you keep that up, your tab will be slightly more expensive to replace what you're destroying."
This is a new bar to Blaze. He's certain he has seen the sign many times before, just never been inside. Well, that changes now.
Blaze is in.
The horns are the first thing Octane notices when the mech walks in. Red. Long. Something that would be considered a hazard if they were pointed any lower, and if the owner of the bar were here, Octane knew they would suggest putting rubber noodles on them for safety reasons.
Slag, he just might because of how hilarious it would look.
Octane sat behind the bar, watching a show on a datapad propped against an empty cube since it was a slow night. Two hoses worked behind him, restocking the shelves and tidying up the place for the morning crew, without having to lift a single digit himself.
As Blaze approaches the bar counter, Octane turns away from the datapad and puts on his customer smile. "Annnd what will you be having tonight, gorgeous?" He asks, getting straight to the point and studying the frame type as his hoses continue to work in the background.
It couldn't be an animal alt mode, no, something tells him a flier with those rotor-like pieces on the stranger's arms.
Or he was simply getting out of touch with ground models.
Take a gamble and swipe right. Jk I'm the handsome one.

Octane is a fueler first and a (Ex) Decepticon second. He wasn’t in it for the war, but for the benefits and personal gain. Plus, playing with both sides had its pros and cons. He is a coward, a cocky bastard, absolutely horrible to deal with, and the only reason he’s been able to function this long is that he can find, drill, and convert any fuel or energy into energon, despite being difficult to work with and even more annoying to get said fuel from. His wits help him out of almost any bad situation he’s in, knowing exactly what to say or what to offer. He will even give up things he knows if it means he’ll avoid being beaten or thrown into a cell.
Octane likes the attention and the need to feel important, so being the only fueler around makes him feel like a star. Sometimes, he is far too confident that he won’t be attacked because of it, which can put him in dangerous situations, because the last thing he wants is the fuel tanks inside of him rupturing and taking everyone out in a huge explosion. My personal opinion: he’s a jerk with a semi-gold heart. Octane can do good and will occasionally (if there are no witnesses) help, while making it seem like he’s not, believing that it’s for his own benefit. He was simply more terrified of what the Cons would do to him than the Autobots, which is why he didn’t switch sides or become neutral, at least not until after the war ended.
Likes: Drinking, People begging for his fuel, Humans & other alien lifeforms, Anyone with a large chassis.
Dislikes: Working, Bossy people, Psychical fights, Needing to purge his tanks.
Fears: Explosions, His fuel tanks getting hit, Insecticons.
Headcanons:
He has four hoses that will draw from his back plating, and are used for fueling, drilling, lifting/moving things, etc. (Think TFP Soundwave, just don’t call them tentacles, he hates that.)
Like a bartender, he can make just about any drink, knowing almost every recipe.
Due to his high tolerance for fuel, it takes longer for High-Grade to start affecting him.
Anything considered fuel can be converted into energon within him.
Heavily armored, especially in tanker mode to protect the fuel.
He suffers from PTSD after the war.
He has a mod to sneak into people’s sub spaces. (I will obviously ask ahead of time to ensure it’s acceptable.)
History
Before the war, Octane was your average, single alt-mode transporter who kept things casual and had a few close friends. After being approached by a porn director and doing some side gigs for extra cash, he became quite popular and more outgoing with people. Life for him was getting good up until the war started to shift people around, and one day he was found passed out with bullet holes in him.
Due to the shortage of staff and supplies, Octane was placed into stasis so he could be safely transferred elsewhere, but ended up in the clutches of Shockwave instead, who was finding specimens to use for his triple changer program.
Despite a painful procedure, Octane survived and was greatly upgraded with not only two alt modes, but hoses and a complete frame overhaul to suit the fueler role. He loved the new look instantly, even though it took time to get used to having another alt mode that flies and has wings, and to understand he was much taller and wider than before. He met the other triple changers, as well as Megatron and a good handful of the other Decepticons before the war continued off-planet. Shockwave requested that Megatron allow Octane to remain on Cybertron with him to keep the base running as long as possible, using Octane’s new fueler abilities, and to defend the base against Elita and her crew. (I say “defend”-more like he flirted and just wanted to drink with them.)
Once the Decepticons got the spacebridge working, Octane got to visit Earth whenever Shockwave would allow him, especially to refuel the base on Earth as well as the one on Cybertron, giving them more of an upper hand against Elita’s squad. Although at times, he would be very distracted by the inhabitants on Earth, finding them interesting to interact with by indulging in car washes or outdoor parties, but at the same time, sunbathe on a highway to block traffic because hearing them complain is pretty funny.

Verses / AU
Verse: IDW
When the war was over, Octane returned to Cybertron and avoided any conflict by hanging out in Blurr’s bar until things settled. The whole ‘Tall Tankor’ thing doesn’t happen, nor do the interactions with the other Tankor. After Starscream was removed from his leadership position and Onslaught won during the re-election, Octane resumed his duties of being a transporter of fuel and other things, while also continuing to take trips back to Earth or other planets as a much-needed vacation.
Verse: G1
Takes place in Season 3 but before the last two episodes. The war is at a standstill; there have been a lot of casualties, some people are MIA, Galvatron is still out there somewhere and Octane is working for the Autobots on Earth, or for himself, depending on the day.
AU: Cityspeaker. Pronouns for Trypticon are He/Her.
In Season 3 of G1, Octane finds and heals Trypticon back to health after his defeat by Metroplex. The events of Thief In The Night did not happen (don’t get me wrong, I love the episode), and since Trypticon was basically abandoned by the Decepticons and Octane was deemed a traitor, they remained on Dinobot Island.
Octane had no idea what he was getting into when Trypticon wanted to link up with him. He figured the titan needed some internal damage fixed up after his battle with Metroplex and was not prepared to have their minds connected.
Does it make it easier to communicate and understand what Trypticon wants? Yes, very much so, but this is all still a learning curve for Octane, and he doesn’t want the power to get to his helm. Or does he?
In this AU, Trypticon can make an appearance if you, the mun, are okay with it. Keep in mind, she is a titan and only trusts Octane. If she feels he’s threatened or scared, she won’t hesitate to give a warning.
Since artwork is rare for her, I will be using icons and gifs of the dinosaurs from Jurassic Park/ World and 2014 - present day Godzilla. I also visualize Trypticon as a mix of the Indominus Rex & 2024 Godzilla because his ‘80s stance is so silly and in need of an upgrade.

Octane’s personality is a mix of G1, IDW, and my own version of him. So don’t expect him to be close to anything canon-wise. (You can thank Hasbro for treating him as nothing but a background character most of the time.)

*So to explain, I had an Octane blog back in 2014. It was fun; lots of people loved him, but unfortunately I had to deactivate him because some people were… very uncomfortable to deal with. I had DMs where I was treated as if I were actually Octane, and smut was occasionally the only thing some people were interested in.
And I get it; I love writing it as much as the next person, and even though Octane may have been portrayed as someone who is very sexually active, people did not understand that, sometimes, depending on the situation, it was all talk.
Therefore, if these rules are not being followed, or if I feel like you are only coming here for some sort of nsfw dumping ground, I won’t hesitate to block you.
I miss playing this guy, and I will not tolerate people ruining it for me again.
