Reeve has had a little too much to imbibe this evening. Some de-stressing from the horrors of the prior work week.
The heavy oak doors of the tavern did little to muffle the rowdy, rhythmic clapping inside as the bardic melody of "Make It Last" pounded through the floorboards.Â
Cissnei sat on the bar, swaying. Her tie was loosened and some of her top buttons undone. Her sleeves slightly rolled up with her blazer on a back of a chair somewhere. She couldnât quite remember. She was flushed with her own drink and as the bartender shouted over the crowd, âDonât rush the pour, travelerâŠâÂ
Cissnei winked and raised her glass, sweetly purring, âNot if you want to taste the best of it!âÂ
Here she completely belied her day job with the Turks. She found the most whole in the wall places to let loose in hopes her co-workers couldnât see her on bad behavior. Tonight, she wasn't tracking targets or filing reports for Shinra; she was adapting to the driving rhythm of the music, turning a lively tavern song into a mesmerizing performance.Â
She leaned into the crowdâs energy, slapping the cask next to her. Her voice rising to melody,Â
âThereâs a heavy oak cask resting dark on the bar with brass bands glowing like a midnight star~â
She grips the handle as the bar tender puts a pint glass underneath, and Cissnei slams it back, âMost men grab the handle, and slam it wide with a shout! They splash it all over til the pressure runs out!âÂ
She slides it down the bar and it splashes as one of the patrons catches it. Cissnei chuckles. âThey leave a big puddle and a cup full of foam. One quick little gulp and theyâre walking on home.â She waves as the bell chimes above the door. She leans forward and searches the crowd for the thirsty, âToo fast with your grip and your turn is all through. She ainât pouring another round for you.âÂ
She pushes off the bar as the bartender takes over. The pub is absolute chaos. The band is driving hard into a rowdy, driving tavern track. Most patrons are pounding hand-drums, heavy acoustic rhythm, and a room full of shouting along to the chorus about keeping the taps open and mastering the flow. Everyone is bouncing, boots stomping against the floorboards, matching the steady, muscular pulse of the music. The room gets rowdy with a round of stomping boots,Â
Cissnei is laughing and she spins to dance with someone or perhaps to get back to her seat. But, she finds she ends up running smack dab into the chest of someone taller than her.Â
For a moment, she was stunned, taking in the scent of his cologne. Something about it felt familiar and his warmth made head more haze than her drink. She hesitated to pull away, as if still processing that the room stopped moving suddenly. Her cheek turned to look up to see who she needed to apologize to.Â
But she froze in place at who it was. His hair is delightfully disheveled with the amber glow of the light dancing across the flush of his face. â....Reeve?!â Ah. There went her hole-in-the-wall hideaway to remain anonymous.
She supposed the fox was out of the bag.Â
Cissnei failed to suppress a smirk, âWell, well. Look who the cat dragged in~â It wasn't every day you found a Shinra executive completely compromised by a rowdy tavern song and a few too many pints. A Turk certainly couldnât leave him alone in this place, could she? âFor a man who builds rock âem, sock âem robots... you have a remarkably soft heart. I could hear it over the crowd. It's going thump-thump-thump really fast right now." She teased softly.Â
She leaned in closer to him, so he could feel her breath on his neck, or rather so he could hear her over the crowd. âI could use a partner for some pub games tonight.â There was a mischievous glint in her eye, as if she was enlisting him for a bit of trouble. She wasn't going to let him exit easily.
