I've been working on a batch of custom medals for the 2014 Boccia Championships being held here in Newfoundland this year. They consist of the medal backers that were outsourced with a laser engraved 1/8" clear acrylic front. The acrylic was engraved on the back side to give a brighter white look when viewed from the front. Each piece floats off the medal with two standoffs incorporated into the design: the wheelchair wheel and the quarter circle above the maple leaf. This way you see the medal and not some ugly hardware that only serves the purpose of holding the acrylic up. The acrylic was glued together with rez-n-bond and then glued to the medal backer with a gel superglue.
