Fábio Gomes
While I was researching surrealism art, I was reminded of this artist that I saw on Instagram. Fábio Gomes is a street artist from Trindade, Brazil. He uses spray paint in his work to blend urbanism and nature by using trees as afro-hair to pay homage to Black women.
I thought Fábio’s work linked to surrealism because he blends real-life with art. The Brazilian artist takes inspiration from Black women, much like myself. In some of his work, he depicts child model Egypt Sarai. He has gone viral on Instagram, and his art has even been reposted by celebrities Viola Davis and Beyoncé.
