This song had to be designed in a lab for the sole purpose of fucking with astronauts. whoever added it to the NASA playlist was a genius.

okay so i’m not very sure how to articulate this but i’m going to try because the thought won’t leave my head. sorry in advance if i fail

i just find it very interesting how ticket to heaven frames the male and female figures in barthtanrak’s lives

i think in one of the layers, one big reason why barth despises god is because capital he reminds barth of his father. the authoritarian male figure who dictates how people should live their lives. barth yearns for freedom and love and even though his father’s gone, there’s still god looming over him and tanrak

but barth is done letting men control his life

now, female figures remind him of his mother

and he’s met with sweet memories that cause pain because of course, he misses his mother so very much. she sacrificed her own freedom to protect him, so they could be free from that oppressive man. the lighting and music in this scene speak of no resentment, just longing

his mother’s love is the only real, powerful thing that’s ever made a difference in barth’s life. no god, no prayer, no faith has ever done for him what she has

as for tanrak, his mother literally named him after the holy mother’s love. he is a symbol of her love

fitting for a boy who will choose love to be the very symbol of it

also, in episode 2 when they’re talking in this garden, barth says this

and sure enough, the next time we see tanrak there, barth goes after him

and the holy mother watches as they confess to each other, as they say they want to be together for life

and i think she’s more than fine with it

Gotta tell you guys something wild in the Chinese fan sphere

So some fanartist drew a “sexy” (read: booby) version of a (cartoon) character who is traditionally very non-sexualised. Fans of the character got mad about it because it’s kind of groundbreaking how that character is written and portrayed and this art totally ignores the entire point of the character. They demanded the art be deleted. In response to that other people said, well what the fanartist did may be distasteful but they have every right to draw what they’re into. The two sides fight for days and each starts a harassment campaign and even report their “opponents’” accounts.

So far so typical. But things eventually come to a head and they decide that this will be settled by votes - not through a poll. Through donations to a children’s education charity via each side’s portal. Whoever can get the highest amount of donation wins.

And that is how this charity received over 1 million in donations in three days lol. Oh btw the “freedom of expression” side won by a landslide (960k to 40k)

Bleeping for comedy is honesty not common for me. In fact bleeping in itself is not common where I am from. That it could be being used for comedic effect didn’t occur to me because I cannot remember the last time I encountered it used that way. I’ll keep that in mind for the next episode.

For further context:

Firstly, the Thai slang word Toto is using is considered a very vulgar term. C*ck would have been a closer translation than d*ck, though it still doesn't quite match the level of vulgarity Toto is demonstrating.

Secondly, the repeated bleeping is done for comedic effect to emphasize how casually Toto is throwing around swearwords, showing his lower-class background, which, as I mentioned in another post, might not be apparent to non-Thai viewers but is quite stereotypical for Thai rescue workers.

Thank you for the context, and I wonder if it is this word, that I saw in a shop window in Australia.

I thought “I know all those letters but I don’t know that word” so I google translated it. But my phone was on super loud and I was holding it sideways so it just yelled “dick” at everyone while the word “dick” in giant letters took up the entirety of my screen.

I was wondering if people would be confused by A Dog and a Plane's lowly-rescue-worker premise, considering Thailand's unorthodox system of mainly volunteer-run emergency services who used to be (and still are, albeit to a lesser degree) seen as "body snatchers", compared to elsewhere where paramedics are well-trained professionals. But so far, I haven't seen anything to that effect.
