Eliza started at both his words and the gentle touch of this lips against hers. She pulled back to look into his eyes and to be sure that he was telling the truth, and then decided that she didn’t care whether this was some cruel joke or if she had finally gone insane with longing for him.
"I," Eliza took a slow deep breath in and then continued, "I love you too, Hugo."
When she thread her hands into his hair and pulled his lips back to hers, it felt like fireworks were going off in her very core.Â
This time, when Hugo and Ellie kissed, it felt deeper. Not so much physically, but Hugo felt as though his heart may burst from the surprise and joy of it all. He loved her, and she loved him back, and it was too good to be real. If this was all imagined, then Hugo would refuse to ever face reality again. This was the only life he would want to have.
He pulled away, regrettably so, but not quickly either. The kiss was both instantaneous and timeless. Their eyes locked again, and the nurse smiled as he fixed her messy black hair.
"You realize I'm never leaving you alone again, right?" He asked breathlessly.
