JAMIE KNEW HE WAS CONTEMPLATING SWEARING HER OFF. she could tell by the edge in his voice, the sighs between his words. ‘ i’m extremely comfortable and i do not consent to your non-consenting of this conversation, which will only help you GROW as a person, brother, which is ALL i want for you. ’ she turned to josh, half chewing on his cereal, half trying to read the small print on the cereal box. ‘ you need any love advice too? ’ he only chuckled harder, but jamie noticed the little stir in his seat she probably already knew TOO MUCH about josh and his. . . GIRL THINGS.
‘ COME ON, JACK. YOU’RE CUTE, GIRLS LOVE THAT IN GUYS! ’ he had the potential to make the whole school swoon, if only he could be less. . . JACK. stubbornly, she crossed her arms over her chest and HUFFED, pouty lips overly dramatic as she stared at the azure of his eyes with an intensity that might have gotten him to spill the beans, if he hadn’t twisted away from her in his seat. ‘ what’s wrong with asking if he LIKED it? ’ she even shrugged her arms up, turning to josh for help. all she got was a sideways glance and a slight upward curve of his lips. it was unsurprising he’d be no help, really.
EVENTUALLY, JACK CAVED. AND JAMIE MAY HAVE SQUEALED. no, no, she had definitely squealed. in her defence though, she’d stifled it quickly. the more he blabbered, the more her eyes widened, until her chin was leaning on her closed knuckles; somewhere down the line, josh had done the same. ‘ WOW. you’ve gotta’ be really freaking out to be asking her for help. ’ jamie punched josh’s arm at the remark, but nodded in agreement. ‘ i happen to be VERY good at things like this, actually. but i might need some more information if you want me to help you properly. i mean, you don’t want to EMBARRASS yourself, right? ’
THAT OUGHT TO REEL HIM IN, RIGHT? SHE CLEARED HER THROAT. ‘ first things first, you need to show her that you’re not fazed by it. you’ve got to act like nothing happened, but also let her know that you’re still thinking about it. ’ yes, yes, perfect. ‘ -you should probably lighten things with a JOKE too, when you see her for the first time. ’ that may have been faulty advice, considering WHO she was talking to, but jamie had faith in her brother. ‘ honestly though, i don’t think you should worry about messing it up. did you know she DATED teddy and ROSIER? i mean, he’s really. . . adventurous. ’
SHE GRINS WIDELY, BEFORE SCOOTING FORWARDS.
‘ BUT SERIOUSLY, JACK, TELL ME. DID YOU LIKE IT? ’
