On top of the Yankees field cat there was a praying mantis on top of the nationals players hat tonight. Huge night in baseball
He was keeping the mantis updated on the number of outs, too

it’s funny cause EVERY SINGLE time I see this, I’ve been scrolling for 30 seconds tops
I met my friend for the first time in a while. 👀✨👀 I got a heart from a friend.💖

@chennnington submitted: Hello! I don’t know if you remember (I hardly do), but I told you ages ago that I was planning to get a moth tattoo and you asked me to show it to you.
Well, I finally got it so here it is:
No ID needed 😀
Also no pressure to post it if it doesn’t fit on your blog or something, I just wanna spam it everywhere at the moment 😀
I do remember, and I’m happy to post bug tattoos! This one is BEAUTIFUL. One of the best bug tattoos I’ve seen by far. I would love to share the artist’s name to credit their awesome work, if you’d be willing to share! If you’d rather not since it gives away personal information/location, I understand :)
Thank you so much! And it’s okay, I traveled to another country to get tattooed by her. We actually met on tumblr about ten years ago, long before she even became a tattoo artist. Here’s her Facebook 😁
Also thanks to everyone else for the compliments 😊
Reblogging with credit added to the artist, Adrianna M. Grzelak!
Waxy planthopper, Cerogenes auricoma, Fulgoridae (Lanternbugs)
Found in Mexico and Central America, these bizarre-looking planthoppers are not afflicted with fungus! This species excretes white and yellow waxy filaments as a by-product of their sucrose-rich diet that build up over time and are thought to provide protection from predators and parasites. These filaments can reach lengths of over eight inches!

Sorry everyone, I've been gone for a long time. :' D I’m not super active on Tumblr anymore, but I still love insects! I will occasionally return and post/reblog things. I made a twitter @/mothmage that I’ve been updating more often recently. I hope you’ve all been doing well!
The Pale-Green Assassin Bug (Zelus luridus) is one of the only assassin bugs that actively hunts its prey

Once I saw a mole cricket fly by me. I was surprised because I didn’t think it could fly! 😅 do you have any surprise encounters with bugs?
Wow, I would love to see that! The most surprising I can think of off the top of my head was finding a lost-looking eastern hercules beetle twice in the parking lot at my job (two diff jobs) in two different parts of the state, both just wandering around with their heads covered in dirt. :' D
Did anything ever come of finding the triatoma bug? I've found them around my house in Texas before but never reported them or anything, which I think we're supposed to do? I've heard they can transmit disease but I'm not sure what's the norm when finding one/was curious what you did after finding yours!
It is still in my freezer actually. O: I tried calling someone in this area to report it but I never heard back.
